This is a splendid performance of chopin's Heroic Polonaise by Rafal Blechacz. The other recording on youtube has an annoying man speaking for 3 minutes in the beginning. I have cut it and uploaded only the playing.

@@davidsastre8724 to be honest I do really hear the mistake pretty well but how he kept on going afterwards makes it even better. Because some people get super stressed after making a mistake

Heard many versions of the Heroic, but this is by far the best. Real Heroic

The clarity of the playing is astonishing.. So many lesser pianists muddle those marvelous ascending runs, losing the notes. Here, all is crystalline and intense. The ascending scales sound as scales, not avalanches, really soar, and we are driven along with them. It is lightning before thunder here. Bravo.

the reason for applying pedal during those passages is to get a fuller volume. I enjoy the clarity, but I think that playing it pedaled is a valid choice and I want others to understand why I think so. Honestly, the specific piano would dictate whether or not I would choose to use pedal during that passage. The fact of the matter is that on a well-regulated Steinway concert grand that even if one was to pedal the scalar passages that the sound would still come out pretty clear..just not 100%

Devant une telle maestria, une telle sensibilité, on ne peut qu'être ébloui et ému. J'ai eu la curiosité d'écouter d'autres interprétations disponibles sur la toile. Rafal est incontestablement l'un des meilleurs. Et, le tout, sans cinéma. Bravo!

Ole Frederic Francois Chopin wrote all that “elevated rhapsodic soul music” the likes of which sets him quite over and above most other of the pianistic poets. The ancient Greeks would surely have loved his Heroic Polonaise and given him the laurel leaf crown of distinguished achievement. This pianist takes this rhapsody to the heights of “Fire and Ice”giving it a personal stamp and visceral message which resonates from head to toe. He certainly earned the gold in the Chopin competition of 2005; to set the bar of pianism up to the planets and stars. This is one of the most exciting renditions yet. PWG

Rather than banging keys that often distort a piano’s soundboard, his hands/ears control the dynamic polyphonic notes across the soundboard from start to finish. Wonderfully clean acoustics, note definitions and timing.

I doubt that Chopin, in his frail and sickly nature, would've been able to put this much grandeur into a performance.

This is the piece, when as a child, I would hear just the main theme and had beautiful conniptions. I didn’t even know who Chopin was, now I know I share his birthday. I have said that this confluence gives me a special insight into his musical psyche. When I composed lyrics to one of his etudes some years ago; as I wrote them I felt the inner aura of “The Golden Filo” as I literally wrote that “I knew not what”. The lord inspired me to achieve a message far beyond my natural experience. So, you never know how things will turn out! I tell people regularly “brother Green will continue to SING HIS SONG. I became to know Rafal by Seong-jin, Cho. Rafal's very very energetic. I feel like he gives his inner power to listeners and so easily pulls our mind into his playing. I think he can recharge people's exhausted soul... Thanks 🙏

Uwielbiam Chopina!!! To wykonanie jest fantastyczne (raz zdarzyło mi się, skrytykować inne wykonanie), ale to jest OK. I love Chopin !!! This performance is fantastic (once I happened to criticize another performance), but that's OK.
