Devarion Loyd I was a heroin addict who self medicated for 13+ years my last 3 years with heroin I'm well educated and not a liar and been through alot but now April 4th I'm bringing in my 5th year sober so your close minded and judgemental ass can keep those rude comments to yourself we will be happy but you will alone and just miserable. Hey I agree most people can't succeed or get safely to the other side but I conquered it with the amazing support of my family and kids and it's why I got far alot of people do not have that and it hurts their chances of making it. I just on March 3rd got a tattoo that says I played the most dangerous game called addiction, but I won with the help of my family and got everyone's name underneath. alot of addicts do not have family at all so they have noone like you it's unfortunate.

I don't think she spoke a single word of untruth. She comes off as quite eloquent and expressive, but also as someone who has lived a tortured existence. I wish I could just feel her pain for her, even if it's just for a few seconds, to relieve her but also to know what it's like. I'm amazed she hasn't killed herself yet, but sometimes addiction has a perverse, paradoxical life-extending property because seeking drugs and being high becomes the addict's new purpose in life, and they don't wanna give it up.

I am her younger sister, and I have to say, Cassie did always have a flair for storytelling. Most of what she is saying in this interview is true, though. She had an unusual and really amazing life in between the bad times. She fought her demons and mental illness like crazy, she really did, she wanted to have a "normal" life. So, for the commenters who wanted to know how she fared...obviously not well.. but she lived and loved and traveled this earth and read books and she was a beautiful person, when she wasn't trying to destroy herself. I hope her story brings solace to anyone reaching out for it.

@craftysplat

@@inishlor505- I am her oldest half sister. The stepmom is my biological mother. I can attest that I remember a lot of this, even at the young age. I remember the beating, the trial, the social workers, the threats. My parents do not take any responsibility. They maintain the older girls were liars and thieves. Once they moved out we were not allowed to speak about them again. I snuck and kept in touch with my older sisters, getting punished for doing so. I'm 40 now. I have a daughter of my own. When I was pregnant I cut off contact with my parents in an effort to break the cycles. My daughter has never met my parents and they have never reached out. One of the big issues is, of course their complete refusal to acknowledge any of this ever happening.

I met this woman at my job last week, months after watching this video. I’d seen her come in a few times and she’d always looked so familiar. I asked her if she’d been interviewed on soft white underbelly and she almost fell to her knees. She said she was so embarrassed because no one has ever seen the video, not her family or friends. She then started sobbing and I apologized for making her cry and walked away because I didn’t know how to handle it. I felt so terrible, I left work feeling like a really bad person. Rewatching this was horrific. I, basically a total stranger came up to someone and told them I know their trauma, the most intimate parts of their abuse. And I said it like I was a fan because I watch so many of these videos. It’s not the first time I see someone from these videos, I’ve seen some homeless people around LA but never spoke to them. I remembered her story so well because I watched everyone minute of this interview. I don’t know how I feel about watching these anymore.

Like many of y'all, I've been bingeing these interview videos. Hookers, addicts, gang-bangers, all these people have a story, and what I realised is that before these interviews, these people are never heard. They are never understood. They hold all this pain in, and try to mask it with drugs and destructive behavior, because it's easier to mask the anguish and pain that way, then to face it alone. There needs to be better systems in place for abused kids, and those with mental issues. We can save so many people from a lifetime of pain, if only better and earlier help was available, and people didn't have to continue to self-medicate and rot themselves. I have felt for every man and woman I have watched so far, because I actually feel their pain, and am horrified how much some have gone through. Cassie is a really beautiful person, eloquent, and very aware of her relationship with the world, but is stuck with the horror after horror that pains her til this day. Its painful to even know so many people took advantage of her, so I believe her when she says she hasn't said aloud some of the stories before, as she is just constantly numbing herself from remembering. Out of all the people I've watched, Cassie's story hit different. I am profoundly changed after listening to Cassie.

@@fishfire_2999 so sad that you are probably right. Heart sick that this woman who is so articulate and beautiful had her innocents taken away by her own family. If her family failed her, society failed her, why should she have faith in anyone. She has only herself for her survival. So yes. She would steal the horse and keep making her mistakes. I've had that happen in my own family. So very heartbreaking. I hope she survives the demons chasing her.

This is by far the most amazing interview yet. I've watched so many of these interviews but have held out on this one because it's long. Cassandra is one of the most beautiful, genuine souls. She's endured so much that no one could ever imagine, and she is so strong for that. I'd love to see an update, and I know that if she was able to get clean she would be doing huge things in this world. More people need to hear her story (all of the people's stories on this channel, frankly). I have tears in my eyes. I'm keeping her in my prayers- she is truly one of a kind, and it shows.

I’ve never related to someone so much. The shame an abuse survivor carries with them throughout their childhood into their adulthood is truly overwhelming and takes so much work to overcome. I wish you well Cassie. I hope one day you’re able to defeat your demons so you can live your best life. Lord knows, you certainly deserve it.

Cassandra's story is amazing and tragic. She is so eloquent I would happily sit through spoken word events where she tells her story. She has a talent. One of the first SWUs where I am not only interested in her story but also captivated by the way she expressed herself.

@@EchoBravo370 Hi there. I'm a therapist and need to respectfully disagree. Mental disorders are different than a disease like cancer. They are the adaptive coping strategies our nervous systems learn in response to our needs not being met as people. They're adaptive survival strategies that become wired in at a very deep level -- a behavioural language. So while it's true we can't just "snap out of them," or "choose happiness," therapy is THE treatment that will rewire these circuits. Psycho-therapy means "treatment of the psyche." It provides a corrective relational experience, and literally rewires the attachment system of the brain and nervous system through experiencing a safe, guided, restorative relationship. So yes, it IS a treatment for trauma and mental disorders

@@richardsherburne6889 God hasn't treated her poorly, man has. We were never promised we wouldn't suffer this world, we are promised eternal life through faith in Christ. This life isn't the end all be all, this is only an experience...a time to come to know you need a Savior, to know you need Jesus through the struggles here on earth. God bless you with the eyes to see and the ears to hear the Truth.
