Arwen was pretty bad where I am. Took out my fence and put half my buddija into the pond. Follow that up with storm Barra. Luckily no damage to the shed and some of the fence just slotted back into place. Going to get a kind relative to help me fix the rest of the fence this weekend. Weather permitting will take up a few slabs to expand the garden :)

Peter I'm sure you probably wont see this however your videos (and others) are a constant source of inspiration and information. I'm currently developing a Zelkova Serrata and it is doing exactly as it should do according to your guidance (also from your book). My aunt is actually visiting us in New Zealand from England and she must have just missed you when you did your latest "Wisley" video as she was there on that very day. If I ever get the chance to travel to England again I will make a mission to visit your nursery if it is open.

Definitely the clip-and-grow developed maples look more natural. I never wire Japanese maples nowadays, because their bark scars so quickly, and then can take up to ten years for the spiral scar to become unnoticeable as the bark matures.

Living in mid west France where it is often very hot, I had a great tip from Peter. He said that they don't always use bonsai substrate, but put them in ordinary compost. Great news for me since it is very difficult to obtain the bonsai stuff. I have some substrate left and mix some with ordinary compost. Very pleased with the result and the trees don't shed branches. Had my bonsai for 25 years now and they are the best ever this year.

I also potted two other seedlings. One might be an oak and the other I have no idea!😂 This will be a fun time figuring it all out. I’ve never seen started plants by digging them up from my yard.😁
