It was NOT known as Star Quest in the UK! Star Quest was used in some continental European countries.

wikipedia claims Germany, Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands it's StarQuest. I have the German version and it has many unique changes to the lore and terminology which I'm told is unique but I could be wrong about that.

The suspensors card was totally broken. That's about the only thing I remember. :D But it was my first intro into 40k in the 90s and I loved it. From here to Space Hulk and i'm still painting toy soldiers today.

I'm so glad you made video about SC. ❤ That's the game I received for my 9th birthday (I ordered HQ but it was out of order 😢). This game I managed to keep until today remembers so much of my youth memories. ❤

Ah the good old times. I also had the german version of Star Quest with both expansions. We played this as children and i guess the rules were a bit too complex so we never wver played it exactly as intended. We then got heroquest and just sticked to that (until now). But damn i loved the Art of the game, the book and the cards.

Great video Ash. It was Space Crusade in the UK but I never had a copy of it. I had HQ and AHQ (and still do) and by the time I knew this game existed I was dabbling in 40K and also owned Space Hulk. Looking at the contents of Space Crusade in your video, I kind of wish I had it instead. Although I have fond memories of playing Space Hulk with my brother, the variety in the basic box is not a patch on Space Crusade. Space Hulk’s modular board was ace though.

One thing I always thought was cool and weird is that it's quite clearly 40 or 30k however the aesthetics are really not good decision I feel made it feel different

This was iirc the first board game I purchased with my own money as a youngster but ended up returning it and picking up HeroQuest instead. You see I was tossing up between the 2, after opening Space Crusade I was a little disappointed I think. Pretty sure it was the toy factor in HeroQuest that made me return Space Crusade. Also the setting up of SC was a factor, I knew it was going to be more fiddly compared to HQ. Your SC looks to be in great condition.

Hi love your videos ❤ KitbashCarnage hear at the age of 31 iv recently got back into the warhammer/kitbashing community agen after taking 15year brake to pay bills and so on . I have taken the leap head on and started a youtube channel along with Instagram, Facebook and Tiktok. It's hard with this algorithm thing is somthing to get used to along with editing and so on but my love and the flame for my lost passion has been reignited more then ever and dont plan on stopping soon . Definitely Space Crusade in UK… I believe Star Quest was certain other parts of Europe (Germany I know… but not sure where else). And LOTS of games had building instructions etc on the inside of the lid!

Good review of this beloved classic boardgame, *never* call a marine a soldier! They ain't mere grunts. As an aside, I've always wondered when GW introduced the Imperial Fists, well, it was in this boardgame from 1990 but we really didn't see them well represented until 2nd edition 40k.

Pure nostalgia. I love HeroQuest and StarQuest. It would be nice if StarQuest came out with a new edition. The new Space Crusade with the half-naked girls is, to say the least, really embarrassing and totally ridiculous. but I think there would be problems with Games Workshop again. Hasbro didn't even get the licenses for the Chaos Knights, the Witcher and Fimire. They even had to design the gargoyle differently. why whatever. I would see black for the Space Marines, Dreadnoughts Eldari etc. still one of the best board games ever released. I still have mine in the closet. If a new edition should come out again, please please provide decent material for the miniatures. The only point of criticism with the new Heroquest. the miniatures are made from the cheapest plastic. I don't think it's possible at that price and in my opinion it's just money made with the name.

Nice video. You have the original box cover with the Jim Burns. This was changed after the first print run as US management did not like the Giger like boarder.

The board and model modularity looks cool. I could see borrowing the blip token idea for unidentified threats like if you were able to listen at a door before opening it. It could be particularly useful for enemies that move out of line of site or for dungeons that start with open doorways.

You got yourself a pristine copy. In the early 2000s, I bought a good condition copy on eBay as well as Space Hulk, and Ultra Marines. I wanted to share with our young son the fun of board and miniature gaming. 2004 rolled around and I caught the HeroScape wave until it ran out. Many Scape forum members were HeroQuest fans. Nice video. I listened and watched while working on train graffiti books. Thanks

Hey ash, by any chance do you know where ti find all concept art of the characters from the HQ game?, I like painting them as how they come out in the cards, but the stats cut away the art and usually can see either their feet or below their waist. I keep searching for where to find the complete concept art, but nothing comes out. In the new expansion of the jungles, the berserkers in particular are not shown below the wait and sucks can I want to get the closest possible as its intended. Hope you can help out, thanks!

if you try to construct a modern Warhammer 40k army similar to the figures presented in this box, it WILL cost you a pretty penny (unless you go for the GWS shunned 3d printing). there is a ton of value in here, in terms of sheer generosity of plastic. it's why I chose this over the more popular Space Hulk (nothing wrong with that game of course). I'm hoping to have my fan translation of Starquest (german version) by then to play together
