Hertfordshire Village Walks. Part 7: Watton-at-Stone, Sacombe, High Cross and Wadesmill.

This walk takes Sylvie and I from the Hertfordshire village of Watton-at-Stone out through Woodhall Park and up to Sacombe, where we stop at the church used for scenes in the 2001 film 'Enigma', starring Kate Winslett. Then we go on to Standon Green End, where we visit a monument to an extraordinary event in British history that many people probably haven't even heard of? Then we pass through High Cross and down to Wadesmill before walking back to Watton.

Walk in the dark, then drinks in village pub wow amazing. Christmas tree farm, Enigma shooting in St. Catherine Church, Kate Winslet, man flight, the historic story, everything so much delighted. Superb long walk provided a great feel to watch. God bless both of you.

Love your films.. As a lover of Hertfordshire history.. One of the most interesting things about Sacombe is that it still has its celtic or bretonic name.. Sacombe means wood at the end of the valley.. Hertfordshire has a lot of places with their bretonic names as there are no saxon settlements till around 620 and it remained a romano british enclave until the saxons became Christian . You may say why is that.. The answer is quite simmple..ST, Alban the british saint and martyr.. The romano british did not want ST Albans tomb to fall into pagan hands.. Keep up the good work you two 😊

Enjoyed video but surprised that you passed right by the memorial to Thomas Clarkson without giving him a mention as he was very influential in the abolition of the slave trade.
