In every category this controller pulls ahead of it's Xbox predecessor the Hex Advanced, except one, and it's a big one. Most controllers offer onboard storage of 2 or 3 profiles, this controller sports 6! The 8 included thumbsticks are my favorite to date, and the trigger stops are nipping at the heels of the current crown holder the Scuf Instinct Pro. This is an amazing pro controller I did not want to set down.

Yeah back buttons are my concern. If they make the 4 buttons merged into 2 on each side and less bulky would be nice. Still think Instinct is the best 4 button system by far. Hopefully new thumbsticks on Amazon soon. Thanks for review

See those buttons look like they're on the verge of perfection. Move them down the chassis a bit so you can actually hit them, and have them the tiniest bit recessed so you have to press them instead of accidental clicks and it'd be great. As it is now I'm not sure how it made it past their internal tests

Hell yeah, nice review Kevin. Was looking forward to this, it’s a shame though that the back buttons aren’t as ergonomic friendly as I thought they might be. Hopefully maybe they take your critic to mind and maybe next year we can get a revamp with the back buttons going back to the old ADVANCE buttons but keep everything else from the UltraX controller.

I've had 2 elite 2 controllers, one had stick drift out of the box but not bad the other had stick drift but then one day bugged out as if I was pressing the right stick upwards ALL THE WAY. Still love it though and I'm probably going to get a custom one before the one I have gives out. Until everyone starts using the hall sensors or something better I don't think there's a better option. Although those aim ps5 controllers with the v3 paddles are tempting af with all the customization

Hi Kevin! Have you used this controller much since getting it? I’ve been told the white casing on extreme rate controllers and products fades and yellows and I was curious if you’ve experienced that with this or any controller of yours with white extremerate housing?

Aw bummer. I'm a huge fan of Extreme Rate's HOPE back button kit (the same as the Advance controller), but I just bought an extra set of back buttons and replaced the fatter bottom buttons with the smaller sized top ones. Are you supposed to use the UltraX back buttons with one finger, with the end of it for the buttom and knuckle for the top?

How much gf (grams force) does it take to actuate those clicky triggers? I have the extremerate hope back buttons which are good. I got their clicks triggers..unfortunately bad because it it takes around 300 gf to actuate them. I re-mounted the buttons and reduced it to around 200 gf,the same as a bumper. How much gf does it take to actuate the scuff triggers?

I wish it wasn't so hard for me to find high end controllers that had all the bells and whistles, but didn't include rubberized grips. I don't even like the bumpy texture on the regular series x controller, but with rubber it just feels gross to me and I also have longevity concerns. My hands don't ever really sweat while gaming, but do that many people really have trouble and lose grip of their controller? Er maybe it's just preference and people like that rubber feel?

I don’t know if its just me but I got the instinct pro for the xbox when it first came out and the triggers don’t feel as light as the ps5 version or the pc envision. Its not “heavy” really but it definitely isn’t as light and “clicky” as the ps5 scuf. I’m not sure if its just because of the shape of the xbox trigger (being that its not as flat) but I’m not sure 🤷🏻‍♂️

My rear buttons on my hex controller for me are too close together. So I end up using a 4 button controller like a 2 button anyway. And the rear buttons are really loose. Don't like how loose they are

hello everything is fine! my friend, I need help. what controller do you recommend for racing games like forza motorsport? Compared to the original xbox 360 controller. Current controls have less travel on the analog sticks and triggers, in addition to a low-resistance spring that causes low force feedback. Example. Braking...in a certain situation I need to use 70% of the brake, on the xbox 360 controller it was very easy, as I had already trained the power point to perform this braking. and much is due to the stiffer trigger spring. The analogue strokes are shorter, although more accurate, when exiting a curve and when trying to control the analogue's return from the original position, I have immense difficulty because the analogue's stroke is too short and the return returns faster than it should, thus causing loss of grip when exiting corners and this is even more evident on blocked circuits and this also occurs when entering corners. I am immensely grateful if you managed to read everything.

Probably Elite 2. Victrix gambit felt ok. Razer Wolverine is good, but weird. I like them, though I might be the oddball. Nacon Revolution is neat- buttons are not in the way of normal hand placement, but harder to actuate.

@@ofat9082 Thank you. I did a little googling, and found that you don't really need to overclock if you plan on just using it on the console. I actually read of people having input lag after overclocking their Elite Series 2 for the PC. From my research, many found the Series 2 perfect for overclocking to be used on PC, but when going back to console, it's almost unusable. Interesting..

WHY aren't all controllers copying Razer by adding 2 more shoulder/trigger buttons??? They are out of the way which means they don't affect your grip and they are easier to hit than back paddles/buttons.

@@GamerHeavenOfficial Great, already looking forward. I have chroma v2 and gambit and used elite 2 for 1 year before. Im trying to find holy grail of xbox controllers but guess that doesnt really exist 😄 Im holding controller with middle finder on triggers and index finger on buttons so I may evaluate ergonomics (especially back buttons) differently than most people. I love chroma v2 M2/3 buttons but hate back buttons and thumbsticks (awful feeling on edge and click feeling 3/4 way to edge - not sure if its standard). I love gambit thumbsticks, its gamechanger on FPS games for me but gosh, hate back buttons. I love elite 2 ergonomics, paddles, and customization (shift button, swap buttons and triggers etc) but hate quality problems. Atm Im using chroma V2 for games like Elder Scrolls Online and Gambit for FPS games. Not sure if spectra has something special to offer, but maybe its worth a shot 🙂 But only 2 extra button is bummer for me.

I was just thinking about going and putting one of these controllers together and buying one until i watch this review.... For me the perfect pro controller needs to be extremely comfortable in the hands i guess you could say almost to the point where you don't even know the controller is in your hands and a big part of this comfort is the placement of the 4 rear buttons, The Hex UltraX has completely dropped the ball when it comes to the placement of the rear buttons it would be so uncomfortable to reach up from where your finger natural want lye on the back of the controller. If Hex had positioned the rare buttons in the exact same place where your middle 2 fingers natural sit when holding an xbox controller aka "Similar to the elite series 2 rare button setup" i would have been sold but the placement of the 4 back buttons on a pro controller is a big comfort thing to me and Hex blew it with the rare button positioning i won't be buying one unless they redesign the back button on the Hex. P.S. If the back button were positioned like the Elite Series 2 i would have bought the Hex UltraX.

@@JackLeftTown427 My fear when trying new pro controllers is wasting the money and not liking it due to the positioning of the 4 buttons on the back and how comfortable they are to use because i use all 4 buttons on the back... If the positioning of the 4 buttons on the back were in the same spot as the elite and the hex was just as comfortable use as the elite i might think of trying it.

@@kurtnordli1381 have you looked at the Scuf Instinct Pro? All the same features: trigger locks that aren’t just a bar of plastic to restrict the trigger pulls; 4 rear buttons that are completely remappable to all the other inputs; easy button remapping with 3 programmable profiles; and lastly swappable thumbsticks. You will have to purchase additional thumbsticks sold separately if you want more options than the stock included.

@@JackLeftTown427 No i haven't tried it but i was thinking about it until i seen the layout of the buttons on the back, The back buttons didn't look comfortable to use over long periods of time i don't like the back button layout on the instinct pro.... My current Elite Series 2 is almost at the end of its life span so im looking for new ideas but can't make up my mind, the biggest thing for me is the controller has to have 4 back buttons and those back buttons have to be comfortable for big hands over long periods of use. im leaning towards trying the new version of the hex but im not sure yet.

@@kurtnordli1381 i have no idea about big hands, but I know fat fingers. I’ve got these little chubby sausage digits. The instinct pro for me is the most comfortable controller I’ve ever used. I can’t hit all 4 buttons simultaneously, but I’m unaware of a game that would require that of me. 1 finger from each hand to hit either button when needed. My middle finger on each hand is nestled right between and I can roll from 1 to the other easily. The only reason I’m looking at a Hex right now myself, is I had to send the instinct in for warranty work. Not a major thing just thumbstick issue not stick drift. I couldn’t hear the actuation when I pressed it. I’m big on knowing I can hear the parts work. But being without it for however long made me realize I needed a backup custom/pro style controller for this type of emergency. And if I’m gonna get a spare, I wanted to try out something else that was at least comparable to what I have. And looking at the Ultra rear button layout, I might be able to use just 1 finger to actuate the rear paddles on Hex’s controller. The other thing I like about them, unlike a lot of other customized controller companies, they aren’t charging for each piece of customization. I think I added $10 total to my build by getting the adjustable triggers. Went from $189.99 to $199.99.

No it is not worth building your own, unless you know exactly what you are doing and aren’t going to break tabs and other major components, the best bet is to buy exactly what you want from the highest rated manufacturer and get the best warranty possible because they are not cheap and a lot of sellers will not back their own product, ask me how I know.
