the first video that finally helped me understand how to quickly calculate binary -> hex
@br3ak_
@br3ak_ 2 жыл бұрын
I took 4 consecutive hours to absord the information presented here and I've also searched through other sources and done a lot of exercises, and I can now efortlessly convert decimal to binary, binary to decimal, hexadecimal to decimal, binary to hexadecimal and hexadecimal to binary, but I can't help but wonder if this will ever come in handy or I just wasted 4 hours geeking through stuff to bore people with.

Intrigued by the statement that the base-10 numbering system is used by most Western cultures. Is it implying that Eastern cultures do not? I was under the assumption many cultures globally used base 10 because it was easy to count on our 10 fingers. Seems to be evidence of this dating back to the Egyptian empire in 3000 BC. Also, the fact that the numbers we use are literally called Arabic numerals. Also, further, the Mayans were known to use a base-20 number system. Would you not consider them a western culture even though they were from what is today Central America (in the Western Hemisphere)?

0:10 - MOST cultures? Are there any cultures which use another system??

Yes, dozens. Chiefly the unary (base 1), duodecimal (base 12) and vigesimal (base 20) systems.

Can you please explain how "'2fch"' was converted to decimal form Or atleast how is "H" represented in hexadecimal is there any chance to represent "H" in hexadecimal form if yes tell me how..??
@animeshsingh4290
@animeshsingh4290 4 жыл бұрын
No you can't represent H in hexadecimal, the counting starts from 0 and goes to 15 which is 0xF and then 16 is like where you put a one as the prefix like 1x0 and then so on.
@ItsMePricey
@ItsMePricey 4 жыл бұрын
@@animeshsingh4290 0x is a universal prefix to a hex value. Instead of changing the 0, we have 0x10 as 16

Western cultures? What about Africa or Asia? Why not simply say that almost everyone on this planet uses the decimal system?! Besides, the Arabic numerals we use, aren't exactly a Western invention...

I can't understand why ue use 16? at 5:10
@LuckDanko
@LuckDanko 4 жыл бұрын
Because the hexadecimal system is base-16. Our "regular" sistem is the decimal or base 10. That means the value of the first digit from the right is multiplied by 10^0 = 1. The second digit is multiplied by 10^1=10, the third digit is multiplied by 10^2=100 and so on. So for example, in the (decimal) number 436, the value of 6 is 6, the value of 3 is 30, and the value of 4 is 400. It's the same with the hexadecimal system, but using powers of 16. Hope this helps.
