In this tutorial, I will show a simple way to make halftone patterns using a basic hexagonal shape. The basic idea is to blend two different stroke thicknesses of Hexagon using the Blend Tool, then duplicate the Object with the Transform Effect.
This is a simple tutorial.

the numbers are based on the height and width of the object and also the distance between the two objects. I can't explain specifically, but try playing with comparable numbers like 1000 and 100 or 500 and 50.

at 9:07 you select just the column and then choose expand appearance- how do you select just the column whenever I click in various location within that column it highlights the entire box and then expands the appearance. When I then get to pathfinder and unite my entire grid looks mainly black. Any suggestions or keystrokes? I am using a PC.

I also use a PC, there is no keystroke when I select the row. if you follow the video, you know that the row is a single blending row that has a transform effect. I don't know why you get results like that.

Gan saya ikuti step by step sampe 4:33 Minus Front, eh... Hilang semua kecuali baris terakhir di kanan. Tinggal sebaris dr atas ke bawah. Bagian mana ya yg salah? 🤔 Posisi terakhir di panel layer, bagian hitamnya Compound Path, yg kuning Group

Coba yang kuningnya dijadiin compound path dulu (ctrl +8). Divideo bagian kuningnya saya seleksi semua dulu (pake similar object) kemudian di Unite, kalo udah diunite biasanya auto jadi compound path

@@user-ek7lm1qd3i First when you ungroup the objects, make sure you ungroup them all ( ungrup until no ungroup option when you right click). 03:50 Next select the black parts (use select similar object) and unite them all. Do the same process with yellow parts. Then select all object and do minus front
