You could do everyone a favor by keeping it simple. If you start saying that you’re going to show things only to those specific extra paying people you will lose some viewers. One of the attractive things about your channel is that you are a regular down-to-earth person who doesn’t think that they are some sort of chef cooking all the time, also you don’t play ridiculous music that a lot of people don’t want to hear. Just being down to earth, not selling extra stuff and pushing ridiculous products is what makes your channel great. Keep it simple

You have a good point. I unsubscribed from a few channels once they added membership/Patreon. The content on the channel went downhill. It might be nice if he posted pics of the upcoming campsite before the video posts for the members, keep it simple

Just let people do what they want. Disparaging yourself as “janky” can be interpreted as almost an insult to people who choose to follow you. You don’t determine who signs up. The viewers do what they feel like doing. So many YT creators are constantly chasing likes and views. I find those unpleasant, almost like pandering. I vote for no big production. You’ve got a good thing going. Don’t mess it up by overthinking.

Yes, Matty, keep it simple. I love listening to your thoughts as you walk around. The motion is smooth, not jerky. Your voice is comfortable. Just do you. Don't feel guilty because people prefer your channel. I'm so hooked on vanlife videos, but some people have a really weird cadence to their voice. Some try to act like it's a cooking show. Sme just have that dumb "Today I'm going to show you how to--" didactic vibe. Yours is personal, like we're taking a stroll with you, chatting.

Personally, I love the sound of fast water, wind blowing thru the trees or across the desert, and you provide us with the simple, "as-it-is" version of the surroundings that you vlog in. Matty, I vote for not making changes. I usually don't watch the videos with all the music and staged scenes. I watched one channel as the person started their journey. It was simple and she appeared to be authentic. Her channel grew very fast. She went to one of those social media conferences. Next thing we knew, she was always trying to do adventures, staged most of her scenes. I unsubscribed. Matty, I think most of us love your honesty and simple approach to telling your "story". Hey, I subscribed when most of your videos were filmed in the front seat of your van in Nashville.

I'd join if I could afford to. I like watching your videos. I love seeing new places. Beauty, nature, listening to you talk about whatever. Even grumbling about trash- someone needs to say it. Your occasionally playing... The little easter egg surprises like that cross (Probably a memorial) and even the makeshift toilet. I can't speak for others, but I like your videos because they are plain and simple. You're real. No fluff, no click bait bull, no drama. If something happens, it's real and not staged. Well Matty both me and my wife love watching your videos because they are just what you said, from the heart. You would be making them whether people watched or not, and that sets you apart from a lot of creators on KZfaq. Please don't ever feel like you have to create, when channels grow, sometimes they lose focus. We are not watching for music or epic stunts. Personally, we enjoy your channel because it is just the vlogging of a normal guy. You are very personable, and people see your sincerity. Just to add to the list another thing I think most of us appreciate is the no big deal intro you just start by saying hi and something I like is you go places I am familiar with you go places thats kind of my stomping grounds The furthest back video I can remember seeing of yours is when you did a video of van Halen died but I had started watching awhile before that People are sick of high toned phoneies and we lack the friendly next door neighbor and that is who you are the neighbor you stop to talk to on the the front porch Mattie 👍

Keep on with what you do, you do you! Special for patrons? Have a special sticker, pen,....MAKE some personalized goody! Plenty of suppliers of swag that can be personalized. Have a meet up in the area where these folks reside. Soon you will have a contact in every town. We enjoy seeing your places, listening to a guy with pleasant attitude. We dont need any "jingles" in the background.

Matty, I started watching Van Life videos with Van City Van Life (Chrome Valdez) and branched out to several others with you being one. I enjoy seeing places I will never see, and van life tips. Might make a weekend van rig to play close to home. However, the scenery is why I watch. Absolutely loved how you showed the Oregon coast, Top Notch!!!! Also, where you have been recently. If you're looking for ideas on a little extra you might do for paying members, maybe a members-only Q&A? While I do like many "produced" channels, the low-key nature of your content and commentary is what keeps me coming back to yours. You've said a lot of things in your videos while just walking around in a forest or wherever - about life, about your experience, about yourself - from which I have taken great inspiration. We share some of the same struggles and hearing your thoughts on these things has given me fresh perspective. I'm eternally grateful for your candor and style.

Part of the reason I like your channel is because you don't do the whole "it bleeds, it leads" model. If I wanted to be sad or angry or whatever, I'd turn on the news. I'd much rather watch your channel and have eight minutes of peace and joy. Keep doing what you're doing. :)

I pick your videos over others bc you give me a first hand look at the world around you. Your commentary or voiceovers are perfect too. You just point out the normal stuff you see. I make videos of our travels for my son with autism. I use the same video style but I do use dorky music over ours bc I’m usually doing a ton of redirecting my son to stay on track or pick up the pace! 😂😂 Regardless, I prefer a first person video style! Thanks for what you do!

I enjoy your videos. I don't pay for any videos. You produce them because you want to and you post them. We watch them because U Tube is free. I have posted videos, not for money but because I believed in the content. I have never asked anyone for money and I never will. I earn my money with my own two hands. As a kid, I picked cotton for 3 cents a pound and cut sugar cane for $1.00 a day. I worked from age 11 to age 75. I never inherited a single penny. I love everyone and I love life every day of the week. I live within my means and owe no one. I also like your channel because you are a real dude and I appreciate that. I see you have a lot of support in the comments, but I'll add that I agree that simple is best. Someone told me to open up the channel membership option, but like you, I thought, "I don't have anything special for members AND why in the world would they join?" I'm not sure how it works, but I've watched people who say they put out videos specifically for members with maybe a little more personal information, planning ideas, or even a live with only the members. It doesn't have to be much. Keep on Truckin'! lol

I agree with the comments. I think many subscribers like the personal touch of you commenting to them. Sometimes it might start an interesting dialog.
