It's been about a month and a couple of weeks since I've had my hands on Samsung's latest flagship, the S23 Ultra, and let me tell you now, this is the most complete Android smartphone you can buy at the moment. Whether you like or don't like Samsung and their phones, the S23 Ultra feels more refined and perfected over last year's S22 Ultra. The 200-megapixel camera in my opinion is a gimmick, but I'll let the sample photos speak for themselves. But when it comes down to video quality, the Galaxy S23 Ultra is the ONLY phone that can compete with Apple's iPhone 14 Pro Max. The Pro Video Mode on the stock camera app is a game changer, and if you're a content creator, this might be the phone to get!

As an owner of S22 Ultra who upgraded to the latest model, believe me that S23 Ultra has so many quality of life improvements and there's really more to it than meets the eye. The changes in terms of battery and performance is noticable to the point that upgrading seemed justifiable. Also, I traded in my S22 Ultra 256GB to S23 Ultra 512GB for around $700 and I have zero regrets.

I highly doubt it considering the s22 ultra is still extremely fast. $700 is not just worth a little more battery life. That's not enough. Cameras are almost the same, screens are pretty much the same. Speakers are reportedly better on s23 ultra.

how much battery life are you getting. I have purchased it a week ago and am getting around 5hrs of sot and am pushing the it much. And 5hrs is not great.
@gibowski9206
@gibowski9206 Жыл бұрын
@@mjjones1045Clearly, you haven't yet experienced S23 Ultra, do you? Probably, you're basing it on paper and the listed specifications. Let me elaborate the "reports" you're reading. First, the thermals are way better on S23 Ultra. I'm a big gamer, so the fact that a phone doesn't get warm easily in relatively long gaming sessions is a huge improvement. Second, I am not a camera guy so I didn't pay attention to the iterative upgrade from 108MP to 200MP, but hey, it's good to know that its there and its still an upgrade. Third, the ergonomics. Both S22U and S23U are huge phones and they are actually similarly sized. But once you hold the S23U, you can definitely feel the difference. The relatively squared-sides coupled with slightly less-curved edges feels like you're not holding a huge phone at all. It's amazing how such minor tweak made a huge improvement in terms of comfort. Fourth, speakers and haptics are noticeably better on S23U. More immersive content consumption because of the improved speakers. And better haptics would definitely help whenever you receive notifications while your phone is in your purse or pocket. Lastly, and the most important one, the battery. I am a heavy user, and from my experience with S22 Ultra, I have to charge it at least twice a day depending on my usage. That phone could not last a whole day especially when using 5G and location turned on. So, I developed battery anxiety thinking that I might miss important calls or notifications mid day because my battery might get drained. With the S23 Ultra, I must say with confidence that this phone can rival the best phones in terms of battery life. From 4-5hrs SOT on my S22U to 7-8hrs SOT on S23U, that's a massive leap. Not to mention that having to charge your phone less often will benefit your battery in the long run. So, yeah, feel free to read my report. EDIT: oh and I forgot to mention, the double-the-storage deal from Samsung definitely helped. I was running out of storage on my S22U 256GB since I've been saving all my photos and videos on my phone since my Note 3. So yeah, the additional $500 that I spent together with the $700trade-in value on my S22U seemed justifiable.

@@dhalsatyaprakash I purchased mine four days ago. It's still learning my usage patterns but from my initial tests, it usually lasts at least 7-8 hours (on wifi) from 85 to 15%. Now, I'm testing it on light mode to see if there is any difference. 5hrs is definitely not good on S23U and you're using it casually. But I would understand it if you're a heavy user and you're using moblie data, especially 5G, and if you're lcoation is always turned on. Also, if you just restored your apps from your previous phone to the S23U, you might want to consider identifying which one is possibly draining your battery. You might also want to uninstall the bloatware that came preinstalled with the device.

As someone who owned the S22U and upgraded to the S23U, I can safely say it's worth the upgrade!! Battery life alone is substantially better and camera upgrades specifically in the video department is noticeable, that is also without mentioning the performance which is free of constant stuttering and no noticeable heat when using the phone a lot especially when playing high-demand games.

As an s23ultra owner and a former s22ultra owner, the 23 Ultra is NOT "basically the same phone as the s22 ultra." Many s23 Ultra owners will agree with me that the s22 ultra was basically a prototype for the s23 Ultra. Night and day difference.

The 200mp is not a gimmick but yes I’d like a bigger sensor and if you’re not using this camera in pro mode you haven’t really used the camera at all. The pro features are insane on the camera. And this was a big upgrade maybe not visually but everything else hit the mark like crazy. I literally have not touched my iPhone 14 pm since getting my s23 ultra and I had the s22 ultra. This is an even bigger upgrade for the other half of the world who were screwed with exynos.

I was on the side with not upgrading from the S22U. AT&T offered a great trade in deal and I went with it. No regrets and the performance and battery life you can notice. I'm not a camera person so the 200MP is not as important to me. Including the One UI 5.1 update, smooth. I would say, upgrade if you can afford it. And if anything else and you can afford it, do it to have the latest and greatest. Nice detailed review .

Industrial design, maxed out specs, an enthusiast's or a professional's obvious tool of choice, a clear cut from the rest of their lineup. At his point, Apple can no longer afford to keep a good-for-all design for their top/flagship phone, iPhone Pro Max. Demonstrate maturity and rise up to the challenge, Apple, show us what you can.

The S23U desperately needs a huge camera update. Oversharpening still remains easily perceptible, especially on pet fur, fabric and threads, plant leaves and tree branches, if one just double taps to zoom in, the default exposure in auto mode is always too bright and begs for the user to manually slide it down a bit, skin smoothing and face brightening continue unabated despite the feature turned off. It's another year of Samsung's insultingly stubborn approach to continue overprocessing photos. Even the ExpertRaw photos are "infected" with Samsung jpeg processing. Samsung, for some absolutely perplexing reasons, intereferes with the RAW data capture and still adds a hint of sharpness, denoising and extra saturation which frankly should be entirely the user's decision to make! They don't allow the photos to be as "editable" as the 48MP ProRaw capture of the iPhone. I sound like I am really pissed and disappointed because I really am. I thought that this was finally the year Samsung's marketing wouldn't be a complete hoax as usual
@nipunsharma5351
@nipunsharma5351 Жыл бұрын
It is clear by now that Samsung does not have the image processing prowess of Apple and Google. Hence their solution is to throw as much hardware as they can as a solution to a problem. The Marketing team does the rest for them in trying to convince us that they have really made a competition beating, brilliant 100X moon zooming camera. The buzzwords at their event and subsequent reviews rotate around 200MP, 100X zoom, 8K video. All marketing BS.

Why is everyone praising this camera when it's honestly - below the average. I'm so mad at myself for buying Samsung device once again...shutter lag, oversharpening, oversaturating... I swear, if someone presented me photos from my gallery I'd believe it's some five - six years old midranger. Instead of heavy marketing and all these free devices and paid reviews, they should invest money in camera software polishing PS software update just ruined battery life on my phone. Samsung, once again...
@nipunsharma5351
@nipunsharma5351 Жыл бұрын
@@stevanb.2590 Absolutely. The problem is with the reviewers is that they will not admit that they see the oversharpening. If asked they would just day "oh i don't notice it" Which is ironic because it's most likely the reviewers who have the other devices to compare the photos with. If they wanted the could easily see the differences in image processing by comparing one device with the other and seeing the differences between image processing. An average consumer would never be able to tell because they just have one phone.

Oh stop moaning. Side by side with iPhone 14PM vs S23U and various pro camera reviews are out and you still got the phone with your own money. In the end its largely a taste thing, however despite a bit worse raw editing side than iPhone I still get more consistently good photos with the S23U. Its convenient to forget the telephotos which of the 10x one you are not getting on anything else. The main sensor is really splitting hairs with the slight exception of the 1'' sensors that appear to deliver a bit more raw resolution.
@stevanb.2590
@stevanb.2590 Жыл бұрын
@@Ruudwardt So, you need reviews to tell you that the camera on your device is good or bad ? 1) most of them are paid or at least they got a free device 2) pictures they compare are flowers, sky, buildings... if you used the phone, you would know that shutter lag makes taking pics of anything that's moving - impossible 3) this camera just can't be compared to Iphones because it lacks - predictability. Like with all Samsung devices I used in last 6-7 years. With Iphone, you pretty much know what the end result will be. Using Samsung - you can take pictures of same subject in same conditions, one after another and get three different results. One good, other below average and third that's unusable.
