35 minutes? Yay!!! Love you, love your channel and videos! Thanks for another great distraction from our current realities! I smile every time you say “bag”. I don’t want this to come across negatively, so please please don’t think I am. I get confused with the new camera angles. When it’s a side view of you talking to another camera. 🤔. Stay safe, stay healthy. Happy Earth Day 🌍 ❤️

I really appreciate you going over your clothes. Very helpful as I plan my hike to Kilimanjaro in a couple of years! When I hiked Mt. Fuji over a decade ago during a night hike the best advice I received was to bring an extra set of gloves because people always lose one! And sure enough, I did--with the high altitude--lightheadedness and the dark things happen!

To keep your hydration line from freezing you can blow the water back into bladder. Also works to keep the water from getting hot during the summer.

QUESTIONS! - As a lady, how did bathroom breaks go through out the day as you were hiking. You’ve stated in your videos about having to use the bathroom multiple times through out the hike due to how much water you’re consuming. - In your group, did you have anyone traveling alone? If so, did they have their own tent or did they have to share? Do you by any chance know what KA’s policy is on that? - Last One! Could you please please please type out the brands of ALL the clothes you bought/invested in for the trip? I would love to start stocking up now even if I’m 2 years out from my trip! haha Thank you for the AWESOME video!

Brands we used and like: Merino wool shirts/baselayers - Smartwool, Icebreaker Rain gear - Marmot, Arc'teryx, Rab (gore-tex is the best) Insulated jackets/fleeces - Patagonia, Arc'teryx Pants/shirts/clothing - Kühl, Arc'teryx, Marmot Hiking boots - Merrell, Keen As far as backpacks go, Osprey and Deuter make some of the best. There are lots of other great brands, but some of these were picked over other options because of the styles and how well they fit us. Hope this helps :)

And, congrats on the baby - hope all is going fantastic! Best moment of my life! That said, I am loving your packing vid, and wonder if you could help me translate. You mentioned for your shirts - Marina Will? I am just not sure what that line of gear is. And, did I notice that your puff jacket was patigonia. I like having a referece so and brands you could share that I could check out would be great for your clothing. Again, congrats! Debbie
@heynadine

Exciting! Which route are you climbing? Merino Wool is what I was talking about regarding the shirts. It's a great material for hiking clothes as it breathes well, regulates temperature, and it doesn't hold body odor as bad as other materials. Patagonia is a brand I love. Really good quality stuff. Arc'teryx, Icebreaker and Marmot are other brands that I'm familiar with and enjoy their stuff. There are other good brands, but those are the first ones that come to mind that I'm most familiar with. Hope this helps!

Question for the Q&A: I saw you mention the "bathroom" situation in this and another video. Can you give more detail about that "bathroom" at camp and when hiking? Was the bathroom at camp actually private/only for you two? Also, when hiking, do you take breaks where you can go pee in the woods? With so much hiking/drinking water, did you have to "go" often when hiking? Thanks!!!!

My heart breaks knowing the porters don’t have proper clothing or shoes when joining the hike. Did they have warmer attire when you guys were in the snow? I still don’t understand why they’re needed, hikers should carry their own stuff. I just worry with everything they carry they can lose their balance and get hurt.
@SazzyRazzy
@SazzyRazzy 4 жыл бұрын
Alli I. It's to do with the laws of the national park. The idea is to keep the local people employed. Everyone hiking up the mountain needs a porter and it's also a health and safety issue, but you're right they need better gear
@heynadine
@heynadine 4 жыл бұрын
So the short answer to this is that not all companies treat their porters the same, and some treat them quite well. The porters don't climb any higher than basecamp so they don't need the extreme cold weather gear, but they do have warm clothing. Lots of people would gladly climb the mountain on their own, but the reality is that by making porters necessary, it creates jobs for thousands of people who might struggle to find other types of work. Look into KPAP the Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project for more info and also choose a provider KPAP certified.

@mattofstie9298
@mattofstie9298 Жыл бұрын
@@javiervera7025 Yes, we used the same boots on summit day. I would just recommend having some really warm socks and maybe even some of those small heat packs to put in your boots or gloves depending on how warm your gear is and how cold it is on your summit climb. As for the camera, your iPhone 14 will do a perfectly good job. I would recommend bring a battery bank to make sure you have plenty of battery power when it's time to summit. On cold days and during the summit climb I would keep the phone inside my layers of clothing and in a pocket that's close to my body. Extreme cold will drain batteries very fast and may even prevent your phone from turning on. Use your body heat to keep your phone/camera batteries from dying and they will work perfectly well when you need them on the summit. Good luck!

@@carog7467 take warm clothes to sleep in , warmer then you think you need only the first night for us was warm and we went end of September into Oct . Something to line your cameo pack or water bottles as it will freeze on summit night along with something to eat that dosnt freeze too easy. Lots of snacks specially sweet as you mostly get salty things on the mountain a plus if it’s anything ginger . Different kinds of pain pills for headaches, I only brought ibuprofen while other girl brought something else and we swapped on days it felt like it wasn’t enough etc . Other wise slowly slowly as they preach it’s doable but the summit day is no joke specially as what goes up must come down so all the down bill after summit is hard on your knees

Couple of drop toilets randomly on trail but not one you’d really want to use lol but if you have day where they make lunch mid trail then they will have a bathroom as well .
