Once again HF has lowered the regular price of the tool since introduction in the last week, like they did on the Hercules high torques. So this impact is $130, happy days! Maybe it's only us who pay the early adopter tax =D Rankings have been updated for those who have them (399.1 points, 23rd)

about a week or 2 ago HF released 2 new brushless Bauer "mid" torque impact wrenches 3/8" rated at 450 ft lbs and 1/2" rated at 475. I can't wait to see if they are actual mid torques or if they barely get to the 200 ft lb mark on the dyno.

Lets be honest, those retail prices are nonsense. Retail i can get the Hazet 9012TT around 250, straight from suppliers around 200. And if you have a shop and you tell a Hazet rep/dealer you want to get a bunch of Hazet tools you will get it for a lot less than retail.

Great video as always guys, but one Detail: Don't be too harsh on Hazet, they are basically the German equivalent to Tool Truck Tools. Yeah they sell directly to consumers, but they have to, considering how much smaller Germany is compared to the US/CA. They also produce 90% in Germany, some at a loss and make that up with their bought in Tools which still have the great Hazet guarantee. And they don't really focus on the US, i am from Germany and their 9012TT sells for 175 here including tax. So yeah, would recommend the 9012 If you live in Germany, as their is little competition except for maybe KS around here, but If you live in the US Go for the harbor freight one.

@@TorqueTestChannel Always Happy to provide it, if I can. German tools only really makes sense (with a few exceptions of course) If you live in Germany. I think (!) That some Hazet impacts are actually Made in Germany, because of their absolutely unique Look and Tank like built quality, which also matches the price. I got the feeling, when talking to an Hazet rep, that the 9012TT Line are more of a prosumer line and the shops generally don't buy them, what matches my expierience from working in those Shops. The 9012M/9011m is an exception to that rule because of it's small size, but apart from that I haven't seen an 9012 in a shop, yet. I have however seen their 9012SPC used widely around here and many shops prefer it to the 9012TT or the 9012EL-SPC, although the 9012-SPC is the lowest Torque Rating of them. Me and other mechanics feel Like that the 9012-SPC Delivers 110% everytime all the time, while the others 9012 don't really do what they advertise them for. But that is totally subjective and I have no way of prooving that or backing it up, so please, nobody should quote me on that.
@SuperAffe97
@SuperAffe97 5 ай бұрын
In my opinion, the 9012spc is even weaker than the 9012tt, the most powerfull one In my opinion is the 9012EL-spc. But overall im quite disappointed of what Hazet became in the last years. Rebranding tools is not what I am expecting from a company like them. Take a look at the Ingersoll Rand 2235qtimax… looks quite familiar to the hazet spc, as well as the hazet tt and the capri, or even the 9012att, which is also available from snapon, Matco and capri, so I would roughly guess, it’s not made by hazet as well, and so on and so on

After about 6 months to a year, they would start to reduce quality. But as of late, they seem to have been retaining the original build quality.

Recently started working as mechanic for the first time, and this was the first impact I picked up. Went with this over the big brother not just to save the extra money, but because the way our shop does routines, we often do tire swaps/rotations with it on the lift, that way we have an easier time measuring tread depth. Because of that, the smaller impact is genuinely easier to manage, as holding a smaller gun over shoulder height to zip the wheels off is easier to manage. A smaller or more compact air impact would probably also work, but for just an all around air tool, this thing is pretty handy. ...It also helps that it only comes in green, which is the one color no other techs in the shop use, so if it goes missing it's easy to see who stole my stuff =3

I'm glad I checked around about this impact. HF is running a sale and it's knocked down to $100. I have been happy with their stubby 1/2 gun at work, but I need something stronger than that, yet I don't need Thor's kind of power. It's for home use, and looks to be the perfect balance of size and power, and it's really cheap (considering I've been roped into plenty of tool truck tools over the years).

Excellent test, as usual, but still worth the comment. That new HF wrench looks like a really handy physical package with usable performance. The Thor blows it and everything else into the weeds for the same price but a less handy package. There is no magic in physics, the Thor needs the size to make that happen. But I think one of the new HF wrenches will follow me home next time I'm in the neighborhood of their store. For my projects, the HF will have adequate torque and be a lot handier.

I too ultimately was trying to decide between the Thor and this XT. I ended up choosing (for now!) to buy this one because of the handy size, which is generally a bigger factor in most situations than needing every bean one can get. This XT has good grunt, but is just a joy to use because of the size! A lot less switching tools too! Their performance claims aren't emotional facts. They sell tools based on what they print on those boxes. It was why the channel was made. If the only place in life they get dinged for playing fast and loose with the truth is on our little youtube channel then they're getting off easy. Brands who dont lie to you deserve to be compared favorably. You can still see which tools make more power in the numbers if that's the only concern. We also have a power alone ranking. Clicking on literally any other youtube channel's video on tools will give someone the read the brochure, congratulate the brand for those numbers without verifying, then give it the driving screws and bolts treatment.

@@TorqueTestChannel Its subjective as to how much value it represents, (to me obviously its value equals zero) so it just reduces the utility of the list. To really use your gathered data one has to re-create the spreadsheet and reformulate without the claims score to see what the data actually pans out to. Power alone leaves out price which is an objective factor. I agree your assessments are the superior ones on YT now, but just think you should delete the formulas factoring in of the claims. I think it’s important to point out that even though the design and specs of certain tools may be shared between companies- the build quality and tolerances can be very different. As a retired Euro car tech I saw that with car parts, but also with things like generators and small engines. Compare knockoff Honda small engines with the real thing and the material quality and tolerances become apparent. Sometimes you’re getting a better tool in terms of longevity even if the performance is similar.

One comment here, a bit off topic but might be relevant, what air line quick connectors do you guys like? I am in need of replacing all my connections with something new, and would like some good recommendations, that won't break the bank, or not be approved by the CFO/wife. 😁👍 Something that won't leak after a year or so would be good too. Maybe a segment testing air volume thru them, as it would directly affect the torque from the tools.

How much you want to bet that the makers of that impact sold it themselves to Harbor Freight for a steal of a deal. Especially since it just went on sale. They must have some room for profit on a fairly "new" tool. My guess is that Capri & Hazet haven't exactly had orders pouring in for the tool and the manufacturer would really like to sell a few more before stopping production. If we see a Husky version then that's definitely what's happening lol.

I’m quite sure, the Hazet counterpart is not only the same as the earthquake, but as the capri as well

Underrated to not cannibalize the larger gun sales? Surely they have much better margins on the older larger one. Either way, looks like an awesome buy!!! Thanks for the work/data/tech, boys!

All tools should get the Torque Test Channel Certification on numbers they claim. These torque numbers being thrown around nowadays are more peculiar than Bernie Maddof's stock returns lol.
