After the first three story series I have really gotten into were discontinued abruptly before getting 1/2 way to a conclusion I haven't started any other long series nor do I intend to. Just pick at the occasional single stories now.

I think it is more than the great escape, i think it was on purpose infiltration to know the human's enemy and what could be done, waiting for more to come....

@@RamonInNZ Yes of course, but I think, this part of the story (the purpose infiltration) is just too much. Intended to get caught, imprisoned and to escape with additional data; this is too much and to unlikely. How do you want to know, that they will not immediately execute them, just because they can? A special team on a regular small ship on the way to a special reconnaissance operation somewhere else, the ship breaks down early, the team gets caught by somewhere else (but the were able to throw everything over board right in time)...and later on the great escape, yes this is a possibility. There were few of these special operations in WW2, as example by the British navy, where small crews on a regular small vessel shipped to a neutral harbor to blow up some German ships there (which were used as support vessel in the Indian ocean for German subs). I remember on case, where a British team on a small fishing boat tried to reach a neutral harbor, to blow up some German ships, detained there (on intention and used as support vessel), during the trip, the fishing vessel broke down (engine did blow up) and they were caught by the Japanese Navy, the WW2 with Japan participating has had just started. This was the second trip, the first was successful, the second failed, because the fishing vessel broke down.
