The one thing we must take from each of these stories is the Freedom is not free ... we must be vigilant every day against those who would srip those freedoms from us.

Question: Why do Sci-fi writers routinely omit current human military abilities, such as using air-power, or beyond range of sight attacks, to take the battle back to hand-to-hand combat like everyone is fighting WWI all over again -- only with Aliens? For example, the bunker assault should have gone like this: "Sir, there's an entrenched bunker filled with enemy soldiers." -- "Well, son, I don't like it." -- "Yes, sir, deleting bunker immediately." I mean, hell -- they could just take that out from orbit since they are so "advanced".

It’s obvious you haven’t been in the military. Boots on the ground win wars, not aerial obliteration. Right now, Russia has absolute air superiority in Ukraine despite what you hear from the MSM. Why haven’t they bombed cities, power plants, electrical grid, utilities, water and hospitals? They could do it and war would be over in a day or two. Their goal is not to commit genocide and kill civilians. That’s why you need physical people to occupy land.

That’s the problem with SciFi, it’s a product of the the age it was written in and will reflect it. Also, the knowledge gaps of the writer will be reflected in the stories.
@mcjitsu

the biggest issue is that the core idea is fed to an AI engine. The AI just doesn't include common sense. AI cannot create an original idea, it can only play with previous ideas, so if the author did not include instructions for air-power, etc. It can't include it.

What I picked up in the beginning from basic story, I thought was a great idea. And that was the humans come and relieve a conquered hero. We got acquainted with the main guy Javine, the position he and his people were in, Javine's iron will and readiness to sacrifice all to find a way to save his people, What seems to be the good humans come to the rescue and try to make an everlasting peace with the galaxy. And we get an opportunity to explore the good and bad sides of humanity through the eyes of an alien. That seemed to me to be a story worth almost 3 hours of listening. I haven't seen that before in these novellas on line here. But I have only been doing this 1 or 2 stories a week for a few weeks. The problem is the story seems focused on the main guy Javine and a constant repetition of his challenges and solving those challenges with variations of the exact same words. We get a constant repetition of "...this is what he fought for, and his willingness to die for..." and "...take the fight to the xyz with everything we got..." and "...if they won't stand with me, I'll stand alone..." and so on and so so on and so on, and so on, and so on. I am sorry, but at 1 hours and 10 minutes, I have to bail. The story of a view of the human race, both good and bad, could easily take 2:42. The story of Javine about 30 or 40 minutes max. I give you an A for creativity, and urge you to continue to write. Someday we'll be buying your bestsellers on Amazon. You just need to get your storytelling skills up to match your ideas. And that comes with practice and repetition.

So far halfway through and I liked the first part. I was good with the beginning of the middle but how many times do we have to hear "it was going to be a long and daunting task" or about ten versions of that. Could have shaved twenty minutes off without hurting the story. Going to finish it, though, as I think it will be worth it. Might be a long a daunting task though!

Over all a good story, but I have one big issue. They snuck into a barracks of sleeping soldiers and went from one to another whispering to them. 1) where is the midwatch guard? 2) They whispered to a lot of soldiers (apparently) and none of them raised the alarm - not likely. 3) As dawn approached , they just sneaked back out. I know about "suspending belief" for the sake of the story, but that was too much for me.

It seems as though everyone in the comments has missed the true message at the heart of this story. Humanity is not on a warpath of revenge, and the Threen are not mindless warmongers bent on genocide. No, the REAL moral of this story is about tables... tables, and podiums, and any other serviceable horizontal surface. THOSE are what Javine really wants to see destroyed! If he had not seemingly pounded or slammed his fist on every single table that had crossed his path, than he had not completed his mission in life. Those cycles spent in isolation while seeking out the Humans steeled Javine's resolve... He swore to himself, to his broodmates, to the Balkan gods themselves that every table in this spiral arm of the Galaxy and the next would tremble in exquisite terror at Javine and his fist!

To the author of this story: the species named Threne has been misspelled throughout this story, occasionally spelled three-n. Your AI narrator also tends to misspell some words as well. Why not just hire a voice actor to narrate your stories instead? That would also provide a more nuanced presentation with better emotional input as well.
