I love how Adams mocked atheism before whipping right around and just as savagely mocking religion with the nose cult thing. The man truly was equal-opportunity with his satire. No one was safe and nothing too sacred.

yay for VenomLSX. Finally someone that thinks a bit more than the original thoughts. The animations were fun in the descriptions and they couldn't have picked anyone better than Stephen Fry to voice the guide. Alan Rickman also rocks as the voice of Marvin.

Yes, it's always a toss-up going from book to movie, because the voice in your head is always infinitely funnier than any mere mortal speaking into a microphone. However, I did enjoy Mr. Fry's rendition of it. But i was less than pleased on his "space is big" section during the movie.

Each reincarnation of the story was different and that was Douglas Adams intention.Stylistically I think the look of the guide was a great choice.I was disappointed by a few scenes of the movie that didn't have the grandeur i expected (the earth explosion,the deep thought revelation, etc) but other scenes compensated for that.So I am positive the movie was an improvement over the 80's TV series.Those who disagree suffer from nostalgia.
@MatthewCobalt Жыл бұрын
The thing is, every adaptation before the movie had the precedence of the involvement of Douglas Adams. By default, without his involvment then the adaptation is inherently less faithful.

can someone explain the non existent god proof ?
@dmenor11ification7 жыл бұрын
The Babel fish proofs that God exists, so this remove the need for faith, and without faith, God can't exist, so he dissappear in his own logic. I gotta say that, as a Christian, Douglas Adams and the South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are the only ones that can make God jokes that are funny and not just bullshit

So doesn't this argument create the doubt needed for God to exist?
@Bobzeaux17 жыл бұрын
The whole non-existence of God bit is funny, but I think Adams wrote that bit wrong. If The Hitchhiker's Guide truly is the most popular book in the galaxy, then one would think that the Babel Fish should be used as final clinching proof of the nonexistence of Zarquon, since no other planet but Earth has ever heard of "God". If Adams wanted to say what he wanted about how ridiculous religion seems to him, I think he'd be better off exploiting Zarquonism to no end.
@royalewithcheese72 жыл бұрын
This is the funniest argument against the existence of god ever. God obviously doesn't exist because it is so obvious that he does exist.
@alo75411 жыл бұрын
Well the guide states god is dead now. And as we all know it is reality which is inconsitent and flawed, not the guide!
