I'm wondering how much they actually use the bow thruster on this boat...it just adds so much weight to a performance cat that is already pretty maneuverable. Beautiful boat!

Hi Kirk, it's a 6kW retracting bow thruster on the stbd hull. Extra safety with wind on the beam pushing the bow off I guess, but yes, as you say, pretty manoeuvrable in any case with the twin engines

@@katamaranscom I imagine all it needs to come in handy is once and it will have been totally worth lugging the extra 300kg around the planet. I'd rather have the extra load carrying capacity for rum : )

@@kirkb3473 probably 30-50 kg I would guess, but I hear you, that is still quite a few tots of rum!😉

@@katamaranscom trust me it’s way way more than that, we looked into this option on a similar sized boat and to have a unit capable of being powerful enough to be useful when the wind is really blowing it’s freaking heavy when you add up all the necessary equipment. Would be interesting to hear exactly what this adds though on the HH

@@kirkb3473 you could be right, I was basing this on a 6kW Lewmar...still a very heavy suitcase, I will ask. I shouldn't think they would agree to much weight on the bow, the Weight Police at HH are famously fanatical

Was that a knife in the helm station? It looks like it's a permanent bit of kit that is meant to be there? Why would that be? kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a7alasiez8uqh6M.html

Always useful to have a knife handy... fishing line wrapped round the props, jammed halyard, mooring line emergencies etc. Hopefully it stays in its sheath!

@@katamaranscom True enough. Was wondering if it was something to do with all the lines coming back to the helm. Interesting boat though, kept thinking there isn't much room, but then thinking ok it is only 50 foot and started to compare it to a GB48 and it looks quite roomy in comparison.

To cut lines (but only in an emergency). Any (smaller) fishing boat will always have one nearby, for example. Experienced sailors carry one too.
