Here after hearing the news that the developer, Tango Gameworks, was just shut down by Microsoft. This game was a throwback to a better time in the gaming industry and has essentially been the poster child for a good Microsoft owned studio game, so seeing them get snuffed out like this really hurts. The game was fun, passionate, and well received by almost everyone who played it, on top of being very modestly priced, and the devs who put their time and effort into this gem of a game simply deserve better.

What i really love about this game is that it doesn't punish you for being off the beat like other rhythm games, instead it rewards you for being on-beat

Once the stun bar is full, they get staggered, lifted and whacked just like any small enemy... I guess he realizes this at some point, but dang. I know there was a tutorial for that but I guess he missed it? Not sure when it happens though. Probably with the first large enemy?

hi-fi feels like a fever dream. its hard to believe a game like this cane out now. its so high quality with such a high attention to detail. every little bit of this game has been carefully examined to make sure its the best it could be. Like even weird stuff a lot of people dont notice or need, like super great accessibility settings, clear description difficulty, streamer mode, etc. its nuts also streamer mode is super expensive, especially in a music based game. That one setting pretty much doubles the soundtrack budget because they have to pay licenses and a composer

As fun as this stream was to watch and can agree with some of your sentiments about the game (Cough Cough that second lightning floor area) I can't help but feel that part of the struggle with some of the later game fights falls on not utilizing all your tools for encounter. It seems as though you kinda relied on your jump dash, and ground pound attacks to carry you though most of the encounters, as well as an overreliance on the heavy combos and companions instead of mixing both. Which means you were underprepared for every encounter that demanded you to parry or deal with aerial enemies or multiple enemies at one time. Though the parry doesn't do any damage, it is *Insanely* useful as you can block nearly everything from lasers and hits to boss attacks and since its done on the light beat, it means you can interrupt a combo if you see an attack coming your way. As long as you hit a "good" or "perfect" parry you don't take damage, and since the parry window is moments before attacking, means as long as you can hit the parry button before it hits, your fine. The grappling hook also helps you close the distance to keep combos, but to also help with Aerial threats, or tall bosses plus can act as a secondary dodge if your traveling across the arena. Lastly, air combos can help you deal with single enemies very quickly, as once they're stunned as soon as you can juggle them in the air, you can start mopping up ads by either taking out the big threats first, or cleaning through the yard trash. While I'm not one to say "Your playing it wrong," you weren't utilizing the full breath of the mechanics at your disposal to make your time easier. Simply put, when this game introduces a mechanic, it expects/requires you to utilize it in the fights to come, and if you don't your gonna struggle.

I am not even through the full thing, but the energy of your playthrough is insanely cool and entertaining. You are so sincerely hype and equally chill about things and still criticise things you don't like. I felt the same hype when playing it, but I am way worse than you! Found you recently, and have been binging all of your longplays. Played this game the day it was announced/released, and it very quickly became one of my favorite games. I love the way you approach and appreciate the games you play, it's real good stuff. Also, take a drink every time he says "it just feels good." Highly reccommend doing a play through on your own with the non stream safe music, brings it to a whole nother glorious level

Holy sh*t the animation is top notch. i wish they talked about animation n videogames on Corridor Crew. i know they are mostly film stuff, but i always thought that FMVs and story telling is where they crossover into each other, and while movies were still talking about ''oh incredibles was the first time we did long hair incg'' games had done it long before that with like Tekken 2. i could go on a whole rant about how i think videogame animations have been ahead of movie animations and cg for ever. but i wont. i just think this animation is epic. and game animators dnt get as much recognition as they deserve.

Hey man, you are a great guy overall, love watching the shorts and the videos! I just have to say the encounter you got stuck in around the 3:30:X mark was not BS like you mentioned. The key to safely engage mobs in this game is air juggling (pretty much the same in most examples of the genre like DMC and GoW games) and you've not been doing it too much so far and not at all in that encounter. Those big guys can be thrown up when their shield bar is broken, you broke it multiple times but never went in for an air combo (dash+heavy is great for getting enemies to the air).

This game looks intense, fun, and challenging! It also looks like it would give me a headache, and make its way into my dreams.

Glad I watched this playthrough. I am currently very sick and had trouble resting. So I turned this on and had some success but not much. I managed to get some sleep thanks to this since it was quite uncomfortable just lying in my bed. Thank you, Thor. Your reactions were quite entertaining though hilariously you can indeed buy the shark costume among other alternatives if you felt like putting more time into the game. But it was a fun watch nonetheless. I also forgot Shinji Mikami was involved in this one as an executive producer which still catches me off guard.

The moment at 10:26:00 was a pretty cool reference to a game called Xenogears, a PSX JRPG that some acclaim to be the best game on the console. The 2nd disc is mostly a character sitting down with a pendent swinging in the background, explaining the plot to you, with boss fights and dungeons to break it up right before the world is opened up to you at the very end.

I find the game design in various rhythm based games to be really interesting in how they are able to use it in their own ways to make challenges. I see this game making you manage different various beats during fights, but seldom in a way where they step on each others toes or completely overwhelm you. It's kinda neat!

the reason the factory part was so difficult to get the timing on is because the music is played with a laid back feel but the attacks and quicktime events are still exactly on grid. If you listen to it you can hear how disjointed they sound together

I watched for 3 hours months ago, bought the game immediately, played it and beat it and decided to go on and play again on the highest difficulty before coming back to watch you beat it - imagine my disbelief when I didn't realize Rhythm Master isn't unlockable at the start, All my restarts from falling into the 'D' rank rhythm meter after clearing a boss checkpoint and then coming back like "HOW, HIS RHYTHM METER IS AT D?!" But honestly, other than some absolutely detestable boss checkpoints and the trap of getting respawned at checkpoints with your Rhythm Meter Reset to a Low C - This entire game was such an incredible experience. I've now played through three times and will definitely go back when I get a hankering for good rhythm combat because this is an itch I didn't even know I had to scratch.

I think one of the coolest aspects of the game is that the pulsing background acts as a giant metronome for deaf people. Plus, having the other standard options to help deaf people and this rhythm game becomes very accessible to deaf people.
