Even more right when you realize the game itself is a pretty on the nose satire on the current state of companies. They only care about profits and want to mind control people into buying useless products, QA and production that cares more about reputation and snuffing out naysayers than responding to criticism, R&D that needlessly wastes money, marketing that's just narcissistic and doesn't know what actual marketing is, and so. Even the robotic workers are calling out bad management and inhumane workplace practices.

@@vullord666 It's hilarious how they managed to deliver one of the most damning critiques of modern corporations I've yet to see in video games. It's all petty power trips and self-aggrandizement even as the company barely holds itself together by inertia of the past. One of the funniest subplots is finding the notes that tell you why the coffee is now permanently decaf, because someone decided to pull "I'll make you quit rather than actually fire you" routine. Hell, the intended use case of the big bad's evil plan: they create the ultimate violation of human rights, not for some grand evil scheme, but because the product team can't be assed to keep defining good products.

Low key one of the best things about Hi-Fi is that even though it is a rhythm action game it doesn't necessarily punish you for having a poor sense of rhythm until relatively late in the game. Your actual attacks ALWAYS land on the beat, even if your button timing was off. That said, it does do more damage the better your timing is. The other best thing is drum machine cat.
@Triforce_of_Doom
@Triforce_of_Doom Жыл бұрын
Yeah basically the only time not going on beat will really fuck you over hard is the post game with either the challenge rooms that have extra conditions like ending the fight with enough of a Just Timing percentage or the unlockable difficulty where you die if your combo meter's rating dips low enough.
@ekimmak
@ekimmak Жыл бұрын
Are you sure about that? I think the moments where minibosses lock you into a parry/dodge combo and force you to repeat their attacks perfectly or else kind of demand you to have perfect sense of rhythm.

Honestly I really hope this is the start of big studios bringing out more mid tear budget games again. Not every title needs to be 100 hours long and cost full price. AA back in the 6th and 7th gen are why those are some of my fav generations in all of gaming. A mid budget game has more freedom than a AAA game due to the smaller risk and more budget than an indie to put more detail into stuff like the animations and visuals giving you a nice mid point between the two.
@TheKnewGreg
@TheKnewGreg Жыл бұрын
You’d think they’d figure that out by now after dumping embarrassing amounts of money into shit games no one cares about. Maybe they wouldn’t “need” to raise the price of video games if they focused on making them engaging rather than making them look good. If they made smaller games more often they could definitely make more money than blowing it all on a big game that fails miserably. Though like Yahtzee said at the end, it’s more than likely that they already know this. Even beyond Hi-Fi Rush itself, There have been so many remasters coming out recently it seems most game publishers realize how much better their games used to be

It really seems that Hi-Fi rush is a really early game of the year contender, and hopefully as things go people do remember it during the year. A few years ago, a game that could be considered a precursor to Hi-Fi Rush by name of No Straight Roads came out. Not perfect by any means, some'd say it's not that interesting as an actual *game*, but it's not a bad debut title for a new dev studio. And there is just as much love, style and awesomeness radiating off of it as with Hi-Fi Rush. Mainly in terms of the world, characters, and the *music*. All bosses have a default, EDM and Rock version of their theme that changes depending on how well or badly you do, and with the Christmas DLC and the Encore Edition, that's two more versions for every boss. That, and there's like... 573 credited pieces of fan-art you can find around the game as part of a special event lead-up to the Encore Edition being released.

I don't think you're a dumb ass, I just think you haven't put a ton of effort into trying to learn combos yet or trying to create your own. Once you do, your taste in games will change forever. @@Jabroni_14 I was never good at memorizing preset button combo's, ı am better at stuff that is simple but can be used with each other like abilities in DOOM Eternal or Ultrakill and sometimes at tactical stuff like CS. Preset combo's that can be done via button combinations ı was only able to do at Sleeping Dogs simply due to how easy and simple it was.

@noobguy9973 that's fair, tbh rote memorization works best when breaking the info down into smaller chunks. I was also never good at doing combos in fact when I took an iq test it said my memory was atrocious, but when I was 15 and saw a tournament of injustice and noticed players doing these crazy combos that weren't shown in the game, I decided I had to learn how to do one batmans combos because it looked so sick To this day I struggle to learn combos though whether it's making my own or memorizing someone else's, but once I do, it feels amazing to perform even better than doom eternal weapon switch canceling or doing crazy movement in a platformer or deep traversal system like Spiderman 2

I love how the three partner characters all had a purpose both in and out of combat. Peppermint can break energy barriers both on enemies and in the environment, and hit distant switches, Macaron can shatter otherwise indestructible enemy armor and shatter cracked walls, and Korsica can make enemies more susceptible to stun damage, power up generators for platforming challenges, and deactivate the flame walls giving you a reason to revisit old stages.

Although he rightly called out the P5D (and thus by extension the P3D) game as rubbish, I do wonder if he ever got into the Persona 4 Dancing game, given his love of Persona generally and the fact that it had a semi-intriguing story mode based largely around a side character from the original game. Gameplay once you unlock the highest difficulty is honestly really fun, too.

I'd to think, but MGR:R's finale is probably my favorite. Keeping it in the same genre ballpark, God Hand (as mentioned in this video and my favorite thing with Mikami's name attached) has a fantastic proper final boss (the angra fight is a victory lap). Pizza Tower has one of the most satisfying conclusions I've ever seen, even if it barely has any plot threads to play off. Anyway -- it's pretty good. Especially on the front of showing the team finally coming together. Kale himself is a pretty good final challenge. Could have done with mixing the gimmicks of phase two in a bit better, but that's a relatively minor complaint.

The game’s certainly doesn’t skimp out on the details, my favorite example (that didn’t got mentioned) was that during the boss fights, they play actual songs with real bands like Nine Inch Nails & The Black Keys. But there’s also “Streamer Mode”, where they actually made original tracks that uses the same beat & motifs as the regular songs, so people can post gameplay without having to worry about copyright. THAT WAS SUCH A GENUIS MOVE & some of the original songs (Too Big to Fail) are perhaps better than the copyrighted songs, IMO.

I think what was said at the end is incredibly important. Because almost everybody I see talking about the game said the same thing. There was no advertisement for it. Clearly Bethesda was confident in the product but my God, you'd think just up and dropping it with no warning would almost imply they were hoping people wouldn't take notice. And they really haven't, anybody I ask in real life has never heard of this game. They know how to let passionate people take hold and make something of quality, they're just so focused on making money that they're comfortable letting that greed ruin games.
