"Compared to a motorized vehicle". I love watching these races because of the commentators. Some of thise guys are just as great as El Guerrouj himself. However, I can also see this as pre-script between them and camera men, and of course with the help of El Guerrouj as they know what he is gonna do. I bet they already have their great lines written up prior.

@@kaismithley6173 Let's be real here, 3.28.39 is an incredible time and would fall within the top 10 fastest 1500m times of all time (not sure why it doesn't appear in the top 10 list, because it would be faster than the 7th fastest 1500m time run by Timothy Cheruiyot, at 3.28.41). That being said, it's crazy knowing that the young Jakob Ingebrigsten had recently run a time of 3.28.68, landing him at the 8th fastest time in the 1500m distance. To call anything under 3:30 "disappointing" seems misplaced, unless there had been a goal time in mind.

@@kaismithley6173 It was most certainly *not* a slow time even for Guerrouj, even though he was certainly one of the most capable 1500m runners in history. I understand your point but it's misleading to call it "slow," rather simply not quick enough. Even for giants like Guerrouj, 3:28 is not simply a walk in the park.

@@animus3328 And it's very impressive mate but records come and go. David Bedford used to smash record after record but he never won major titles. Coe won the big ones and if they had had World Championships when he was in his prime and uninjured in 1979 and 1981 he would have won a good few more. Diets, nutrition, training methods, pacesetters and faster tracks all helped EG compared to Coe. Taking all that into consideration Coe is the greatest runner between 800 metres and a mile the world has ever seen!!! Sebastian Coe is the GOAT.

To suggest that Coe, Ovett and Morcelli are better that the legendary El Guerrouj is simply stemming from pure jealousy or hate toward him, because simply the facts don’t support your notion! No one has even come close to El Guerrouj’s achievements! You can argue that Morceli was the closest out of them all followed closely by Ngeny otherwise you’re just bluffing 🤦🏼‍♂️
