Loved your comment regarding red dot sights. Bingo. Also, my Glocks are easy to take down. I traded a Target Ruger MKIII 22 because it was THE hardest gun to assemble in the entire world. Good video as always. Kimber does make some really good firearms. Their 1911 style guns are sweet. Every gun maker makes a gun or two I am sure I would not like but they do make something I do like.

Thanks for doing the review without the optic, as I too have taken off the optics on my Sig P365XL and S&W Shield Plus 4" with ported barrel. I hated seeing the red dot bouncing around & when I took the red dots off of both of these pistols my accuracy immediately improved. Go figure... Love the Shield Plus Performance Center 4" ported barrel as it shoots with the accuracy of a full size pistol. I equate this to the excellent trigger (4.25 pound trigger pull) which my Sig 365 & 365XL don't have, but I shoot them pretty good too.

I’ve come full circle ⭕️ with red dots on pistols. I’m with Hickok, I like my trijicon rmr on my 34. It’s fun to shoot especially at distance. I retired the optic on my carry gun, as I get older maybe I’ll need mine too. For now, I’ll be sticking with a nice set of night sights on my handguns.

for the "smaller" carry guns I think night sights and a grip activated lazer is what I'm going to be looking for. Pocket carry or belly gun. Slim summer carry. From there as Hickock 45 often says your stepping up. I know at my present set of abilities I won't be snipping a hostage taker.

Another great video! We ALL have at least 2 pistols that need an advanced degree from MIT to break down. So, I " feel your pain." I spent the day here at deer camp . I started the morning in my nice cozy blind, with my nice Mr Buddy heater and my little LP camp oven to heat up my food and coffee. I was a happy camper.... until the day started and I spent most of the day hauling in deer with the kids, watching as they field dressed their first deer, and helping our club VP track a 9 pointer that was dead when he was hit but didn't know it. He ran 250 yards into the thickest briars and thorns that he could possibly find as his last act of revenge. Of course, the wonderful feeling of getting shredded to pieces as we were extricating him makes me realize that we need to bring extra blood plasma with us next year. But, as always, it's deer camp so even the worst of times becomes the stuff legends are made of as each year passes and the stories are embellished. Well, I need to get going. My 45-70 needs cleaned and dried. I need to find dry clothes and Neighbor Ned is tending bar in the lodge and we need to make sure he doesn't try to make flaming martinis again.

When I first bought my Kimber Mako I had difficulty breaking it down after following the instructions. Then I stumbled on a full proof way of doing it and it has been clear sailing ever since. First step. Unload the weapon dropping the magazine and clearing the chamber. Second step. Very lightly pull the slide back while at the same time pulling down the breakdown tabs until they click. Third step. Pull the trigger. Fourth step. Hold onto the slide and barely push it forward and it will come right off. Let me know how that works out for you.

Right after my initial comment a year ago, I noticed a tendency for the weapon to double-tap on its own, and had some surprise firings when re-acquiring targets. I was just about to write Kimber about it when I got the recall notice concerning the firing-pin issue. Sent it back, waited a couple of decades for the fix. Finally got the weapon back. Yes, the problem was fixed. Trigger still good, but not quite so impressive. I found that with some less-expensive range ammunition (that my other pistols eat just fine) I started getting some failure-to-feed and failure-to-eject issues. That, coupled with the take-down difficulty and the aggressive grip texture that abraded my wife's palms after about 50 rounds at the range made me holler "Uncle" and trade it in on a 365 XL for my wife. This pistol was like a great first date that tells you she wants to just be friends. Okay, I won't take you to the prom.

Manufacturers have always put out wacky oddball items that are too big, too heavy, or looks- like-a-Hi-Point-but-its-a-Kimber models in order to appeal to the oddballs among us. Maybe its a great idea, but really its too heavy, thick, bigger and lower capacity for more money than its competitors. Its not gonna compete loose the shroud:, takenoff 3 ounces and add 3 more rounds and maybe with that great trigger it'll be a winner!

A 15 round mag is available. That should suit most. I have no pity however as I live in R.I. which restrict anything but 10 rd.mags . It's actually a felony here to own "high capacity mags".

So glad to see you miss, I've been thinking you are some kinda cyborg. LOL just kidding, love your cannel and am in awe of your skills. And loved the Tucker video. I am torn on my next gun. I have a Hellcat and a Glock 19, I am thinking about the Mako or the Glock 26. Just got a Kimber Rapide Black Ice in 10mm that I haven't shot yet. We will see.

I'd be happy with that shark, that cleaning break down issue is a strong negative though and I'd use it as a trade in for another gun. Lol. Requisite 1st. Thanks to all of the sponsors of course.

If you haven’t tried it yet, take a look at the Hogue grips for the P365 XL. I think you’ll like it.

My carry piece is a 365XL, and it's the yardstick I use to measure other carry pieces. Got my wife a 365 SAS, which was really good in theory as she uses a corset holster and the SAS has no projections that might snag on fabric. Unfortunately, her chemotherapy-weakened hands cannot operate the shrunk, recessed, stiff controls of the SAS and the sights do not encourage rapid target acquisition. So, today I traded the SAS in on a "hand-friendlier" piece: the competitors were the Hellcat, a "standard" 365, the Mako, and the M&P Shield. Walked away from the counter with the Mako. Initial impressions: I'm with Hickock 45 with regard to "iron" sights vs. powered optics. However, once I spent a couple of mags zeroing in the dot, I was able to tighten my grouping nicely around the bullseye, about a 2.25" group at 7 yards, almost as good as I can do with my 365XL. Using the co-witnessed sights I shot a small increment better, largely because of that glorious trigger. It's every bit as good as the trigger on my VP-9, which is a dream, In fact, it may be a touch (pun intended) lighter. The trigger made up for my initial stumbles later on in stripping and cleaning the weapon. Once I got into the manual and figured out the right grip placement for each hand, the disassembly went a lot smoother, although certainly not as easy as my XL. But oh, that trigger! Great objective review, Boss.

Addendum - right after writing the above comment, I noticed a tendency for the weapon to double-tap on its own, and had some surprise firings when re-acquiring targets.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who doesn't like optics on a conceal carry pistol. It's cool that manufacturers are offering it but I'd gladly take the same model without it being optics ready and maybe knock off the extra $75-100.

I can relate to how hard it is to break down I broke down a Ruger Mark 111- 22 and couldn’t put it back together how do you send it to Ruger to have them put it back together. I love my Beretta P-4 Storm, you gave it a good review, I’ve put over 2,000 rounds through it and it runs flawless. The Fiesta Flash 🤙🏼🍺🍺

I have a question about shooting with your glasses: I wear progressive lenses (basically transition bifocals for those who don't know), and it makes it difficult to hold my head in the proper position when I shoot, do you wear progressive lenses & how do you deal with this issue?

That Mako R-7 is heavier because the top strap of the slide is solid. The others have a full cutout where ejection of the case or whole round unfired is elected.
