That was my son and I that talked to you at the gas pumps, I think it's awesome that a young lady like yourself had the courage to ride to Sturgis by yourself, you didn't know what to expect and probably heard all these horror story's about the terrible "bikers" at Sturgis. Keep up the positive message about the biker community, we need more like you on two wheels.

@@matt59fire hey so you're familiar nice. I can tell you that if you pick the right one, you can ride thousands of miles safely. I personally have 5k miles with ZERO incident. As long as you stay below the cutoff speed, and you picked one with a good safety record, its perfectly fine. by all means tho, pls do get at least a starter unicycle. even the small ones can do 15-20mph and the newest are pushing above 60mph with suspension. a decent starting one is around 800-1300 dollars. let me tell you it feels like you are flying, motorcycles have nothing on these.

As a 50 year old man, I don't go on long road trips alone. Other bikers are the least you have to worry about out there. Be safe, take a friend. Trips are always more meaningful when you share memories of the trip with friends.

Its preference for sure. I, too, am 50, and I prefer to be alone on longer trips. I understand the weirdos and dangers, but if you are aware and do not put yourself in backward positions, there is nothing to worry about. If that doesn't work well, I have my secret partner, Glock 23. :) I'm actually taking a long weekend trip next weekend (end of April 2023), and it was planned solo... BUT a friend asked about riding the the trip with me. So, guess I'll see how I feel after this trip.

My wife is 57, a Grandmother, and rides a 2009 Ultra. She's got stories for days, most of them good. People just say things without thinking when they see others doing something that doesn't fit the mold. People will come in to her work and ask her if that's her Harley outside. They're saying it as a joke and are shocked to find out it is her bike. My Grandson loves taking rides on his Grandmas Harley. I'm sure those are memories that will create positive views of motorcycles and women.

I don't love it that you went solo...I'm in Memphis and have seen first hand how many crazy people there are...its not a matter of bravery or living your life without fear. It's a matter of whether it's necessary to be alone or not. If you can ride with someone who matches your speed do it....I would understand the situation we're you are having to leave areas because your traveling partners aren't interested in the same things...I could never ride with someone who didn't want to stop for photos.

Support among this community is why it's such a strong fellowship. Decisions one makes can put themselves in a bad situation, but as Americans we have many rights and FREEDOM is our favorite. Knowing the tragedy of a young Mom in Memphis keeps me worrying about all solo riders, females especially! Let no one hold you back and be sensible as well as prepared. Good luck in your rides Goddess, You are in my prayers.

Hello, 60 yr biker. I encouraged my three girls to take the motorcycle safety course. One continued riding until she married. He had some bad ideas about riders and riding. She sold the cycle I bought for her, to kleep peace and harmony. Bad stories about motorcycles and operator's spoil a good sport. You have to make a visit to Iron Lake road and lake. In the fall it is beautiful. A scene in Dances with Wolves was shot there. Also off Spearfish Canyon road is Rough Lock Falls, a nice walk-about and picture area. I hope you rode the long view of the Bad Lands? Most people do the short ride, too bad. There is another ride down Vanoker(sp) Canyon road too. It is a blast on a good bike that handles twisties. At the end of it you have two choices, take either one and have fun. Start over and do them both, I did.😮😊 PA Tobin, on BMW's. 10:03

Men get a 1 match in 40 on Tinder, Women get 1 in 2, there are more men on Tinder (75%) likely because approaching women that call us creeps and pervs makes guys turn away and they know it creates a pressure with women for them to say yes so if a woman swipes and you swipe there is mutual attraction. That could just by my reason, which happened to me when I approached a girl for her number she gave it to me then flaked out on three dates she agreed to, twice a nice dinner at a restaurant with live music, once where I offered to make her tacos and play guitar for her. The reason why guys watch dating coaches are in those statistics, dating coaches teach making it sexual, and women are not excited by men who are "like their brother". Respectful men don't get dates Ma'am, and they eventually just give up. You could argue that being called a creep or a perv is rude/disrespectful as well...

The old AMA saying “99% of motorcycle riders are law abiding citizens”. Though, this led to motorcycle gangs embracing the “1%er” mantra, and outlaw motorcycle gangs wearing the “1%er” patch. Those are the guys she was lucky to avoid. No encounters with hells angels, mongols, sons of silence, pagans, outlaws, or highwaymen is always a recipe for success at any biker run.

Doodle does use common sense to hopefully avoid bad people and situations which really is all we can do. Truth is that especially women do get attacked through no fault of their own by criminals turned loose on us. Murdered while jogging at 4 am in safe area, beat up/murdered in their appt. bldg., thrown in front of trains, sucker punched from behind and much more. Hopefully criminals will soon be locked up as they should be so we can be safe again. Try to be safe, keep head on a swivel and enjoy life Doodle.

I hope all of your experiences are good and safe. Thanks for being a good person in a world where there is so much that could go bad. Enjoy!

Am glad you shared this perspective of Sturgis. I have been curious about your personal experience as a solo female rider visting the event. It is nice and a relief see that there are good people out there to counter the dodgy/sketch individuals. This was a great episode, Carolyn! Appreciate your work on this.

This was so wholesome. I'm sure there is a lot of that which makes it infamous online that does go on but I'd venture to guess it's few and far between, it only gets notoriety because it's so egregious. Glad to see you had a good time! I need to get up there sometime but I'll probably go with a buddy not as brave as you :P

As a father of two grown single daughters I hear all the time how many men act towards a woman alone. It’s often deplorable the expectations they have towards females. I live and work out here on the road and so does my wife. I have the utmost respect for you ladies who are out here. Love your videos Doodle, be careful out here and keep up the great work.

Nice video, good to see the positive in people. Being a biker / motorcycle nut most all my life and having done many big trips solo and with company I have overwhelmingly seen the good in people come out when I am on a bike. The bikers the old timers who used to ride but health is failing, I love hearing and sharing stories that connect us as people. Any advice on that 360 camera would be nice. Planning on riding to Alaska next year with 2 other buddies on our Adventure bikes. The 360 looks like an interesting way to go. Cheers!

Genius! I love the content in this video. As a single father of three, (2) boys and (1) fourteen year old young lady who believes she's going on 35, I'm a huge proponent of educating our young women. I want my daughter to be confident in everything she does but this starts with educating yourself (ourselves). Especially as a female rider. Clearly you have done your research. I can't wait to show her this video. Kudos! - Joey

You captured it perfectly, nothing but respect for everyone. My wife rides an Ultra Classic and we sometimes separate while at Sturgis and she gets the EXACT same treatment. The media only looks for the worst possible scenarios. We have GPS tracking enabled but it only encase either one of us was to wreck and end up in the hospital or down an embankment somewhere. Plus a friend back home will also be able to monitor us too. Other than injury no worries at all.

Sturgis is completely what you make of it. Alot of the questionable behavior most people think of happens at the campground I have heard. I started riding May 2020 with my husband on my own HD Freewheeler. Sturgis was my first long distance trip and it was amazing. After riding through 22 states and 35,000 mile, I can say that this has been my experience as well. You will meet many interesting people. And people will just start talking to you about when they used to ride. My husband can't get over how much attention I get while we ride. I hope I have been as much of an inspiration to other women (and men) as you are being on KZfaq. Keep the rubber down and shiny side up!

Interesting to watch this. Good to have you address these issues. Personally, I'm so impressed that you are riding the big bikes that well. And building relationships with other women riders like Meg, Jess other female KZfaqrs. Meeting you and getting photos with Meg, Mike and you at the Harley tent was an unexpected and pleasant surprise. Looking forward to watching more of your adventures which encourages me to get out and ride.

As a male solo rider I'm going to have to say I am happy to hear that most of your interactions are positive ones. The topic of female (especially solo) riders safety is very important to openly discuss. I followed your channel as well as many other female rider channels for some time and find this topic brought up often. It's not about "This day and age" lines as popular females are often subject to much more negative attention than males. Although this was and still is more of a pronounced problem for movie stars and music entertainers, it has become increasingly more of a problem since social media has made becoming "famous" much easier. WIth hundreds of millions of social media users, this opens up the possibility of the trashy people having access to you and others like you. I agree with @hertwowheels and how she doesn't post her riding schedule nor does she check in live along her routes. Although I would love to see live videos of the trips that are taken, I agree and support the decision to be cautious and take personal safety first. Uploading videos after you are safely to your destination or back home is perfectly acceptable to protect yourselves from those that would do you harm (physically or emotionally). Part of social media is the keyboard warriors that make the nasty comments and unfortunately there isn't much that can be done to prevent this. I do hope to catch up to you and the many other KZfaq riders one day but rest assured I'll be one of the ones not invading your personal space nor being disrespectful in any way, Until then, ride safe and enjoy this beautiful country and all the aspects of riding that make it so enjoyable.

I absolutely love how you just dismantled the negative stereotyping we in the motorcycle community get. Our community is one of a handful where nothing else matters other than our common interest of being on two (or three) wheels and respect is paid without thought.

Right I got my daughter a bike at 16yr cause to be honest it nothing like what people think it is we have respect for everyone out there. Most biker just want to be able to be free that what I hope my kids get to achieve. Every time I hear my daughter harley fire up it make me smile knowing I gave her that freedom that only comes from riding.
