With the "Student View" button, you can also complete assignments as a student, upload, etc. Then when you are back in instructor mode, you will see "Test Student" at the bottom of your gradebook and will appear in SpeedGrader as well. Great way to test or see things as a student.

Wow, I didn't know that you can add emojis and I didn't even know that Windows has that menu for typing them down until now! I think the emojis would be useful for making the modules more aesthetically pleasing to look at (they'd also be great for labelling things!). The other tips here are so useful as well! Thank you for this tutorial!

Glad I could help! My one caveat would be to rely on simple emojis. I read an article about how men and women in the workplace react differently to emojis and that has stuck with me this past year. www.wsj.com/articles/why-you-should-not-use-emojis-at-work-11637603265

@@HowToCanvas This is a good point. Context and relevance is important in planning the visual design too. Personally, the class I was setting up has to do with media studies so some emojis really help with labeling stuff based on topic and it's not gonna look too out of place since the class has lots of topics about media trends. Emojis would most likely look out of place for other courses though, heheh...

I like to use the little cloud button in the editor to copy code in certain places in it's entirety. It is a pain getting the correct spot in code view.

Here's another Gmail hack. Suppose your email is kelly.hering@... You can register for sites without the period and it will still go to your inbox. If my email were how.to.canvas@gmail, then I could register it as howtocanvas or how.tocanvas. You can even move the period anywhere, such as howtocanva.s and it will all go to your inbox. Sometimes for retail sites I'll put the period somewhere odd and then I can set up a rule in my inbox to automatically sort those emails into a folder. That way I know the folder is just spammy retail stuff and it won't land in my inbox and annoy me.

All the pages I create in Canvas have an underlined name. Anyone know how to get rid of the underline?

I don't entirely understand, but if you have a hyperlink and you don't want it underlined then you can use CSS to avoid the underline. It would look something like: hyperlinked text

Just refresh the page and it’ll randomly appear. Most of the time I get the COVID game and I haven’t actually played the frogger one. Maybe I’ll give that a try today.

I gave the other game a try. You get some points for staying put, but you need to try and advance your piece to the colored square. I got a score of 26459. The coronavirus game has a bit more strategy and I have an embarrassingly high score on that one.
