Ever played Requiem: Advenging Angel? Very hidden gem. Probably the most hidden I've ever seen. AD&D Slayer on the 3DO is also a good one.

one of my favorite games from back then came out in 1998 called Shogo: Mobile Armor Division. some levels you played piloting a mech and others on foot. it was a fun game to play and even more fun doing a lan party, used to get 5 or 6 people at my apartment using every available horizontal space to set up their PC's and spend hours blasting each other.

Realms of the Haunting (though it’s more first person horror adventure with shooter elements than straight FPS, it’s still awesome). Also Killing Time, and finally Last Rites. Those are in order of best to worst, but they’re all obscure, underrated gems.

I have Last Rites on Steam. Played it until I got stuck and couldn't figure out where to go next. On either the first or second level...

Thanks for reminding Space Hulk and RoboCop 3, these are true gems. I didn't know about DefCon 3, looks and sounds pretty hard sci-fi.

Glad to see you guys playing Pyl, it's a total lost classic, and imo should be higher on the list. Too bad the devs made it using the horrible Glide libraries, and the software mode writes checks no CPU can cash, sadly... and the coder of the game tried twice to resurrect the game, but even he couldn't wrap his head around the engine anymore ;) Great video!!! Although I would see The Wheel of Time nowhere near the podium... but oh well. Kind of surprised you didn't mention Wrath of Earth, esp you just made it available on the website. And I know you probably have enough recommendations for the life of work, but are you planning to repack Shadowcaster and it's cousin game, In Pursuit of Greed?

Wrath of Earth was going to be an honourable mention, but I forgot to put it in there. Was editing down to the wire again. There's loads on my to-do list, including the two you mentioned. Just have to get to running and playing them.

Great stuff! I'm impressed you can pump these out so fast, please don't feel obliged to make em so fast. I don't want to sound selfish, but I hope that the videos don't too disrupt your game tinkering! Would you ever upload Pyl and WoT?

That's the plan :) Both need more work though. My aim is to do as I have been doing, two full reviews and a monthly 5 mini-reviews per month.

Surely Brahma Force (or any of the related Kileak games) deserve at least an honorable mention.

Honestly I prefer Terminator Rampage to Terminator 2029 though I agree that Future Shock is better then both of them. A modern Rampage release which allows remapping controls would be awesome IMO. I would put Rebel Moon somewhere on the list. Especially since number one has been re-released, as has one of the honorable mentions, meaning there is a free slot. The sequel Rebel Moon Rising could go there too but the original is more forgotten IMO because AFAIK the only way to get a legit copay was bundled with some piece of computer hardware while the sequel was released commercially.

Are you gonna upload the games that are on this list that aren't on your site? I'm now curious to try some of them

Some are imminent, some need a little work. Pyl and Wheel of Time being the most troublesome. Pyl works about 50% of the time for me and I'm having issues running video within WoT. I'm also having trouble sourcing a complete version of Hades, but I believe it's an insanely rare game to find physically.

Hrm, vaguely hoping this has one shareware one set underground that I've always wanted to give another try. When I last tried it, I couldn't even figure out how to leave the first room, so wanna give it a fair shake. EDIT: Thought for a second it was in the Honorable mentions, but realized it was just another game I've confused with it before. T-T Still no idea where to start looking. It was closer to contemporary with CyClones or the Doom games, and definitely not part of the wave of 3D FPSes after Quake.

Glad to see Pył (Dust) on the list. It was more sneaky than action though. And for some reason singe fire do more damage than burst. I guess it was the most demanding DOS game? Never encountered other game that gave me so much trouble with it's requirements. Beat the game years ago and ending was bit tricky. Good luck finding that launch code...

You're a better gamer than I :) It's a DOS game from 1999, that probably had something to do with it. It's still tricky to get running on DOSBox, and the setup I have doesn't always launch which is a pain, but I still managed to get a good idea of what it's all about.

@@thecollectionchamber7416 I also tried to run that game with decent frames (no success), turns out some people patched up the game and fixed the engine to run it smooth.

Zombeaver's package may help you. I have a link to his site called Zomb's Lair in the 'sites I like' section of the page. I can either get videos and no gameplay or gameplay and no videos which I can't seem to fix, but your setup may work with it. If not, at least you'll be able to play the game in some form. Games from that era are annoyingly finnicky.

Ever played ZPC? It a strange FPS game using "Comic" art style, probably made in 1997 or 1998 using an updated Doom engine. Anyways it basically you playing as a Space Jesus coming down to a dictatorship planet, liberating the population living there
