This will be the first in our PFG Shop Class Series for 2022, with Jim Russell who will guide us through the age-old period techniques for using hide glue and hammer veneers to veneer a tabletop. Jim will start us off with a 30-minute presentation on all aspects of Hide Glue and will then demonstrate how to use the glue along with a hammer veneer to apply a figured veneer, stringing, and cross banding to a tabletop.
Jim will also demonstrate and give us the opportunity to make our own wooden veneer hammers.
This experience will be followed up in our second meeting in February where we will team up to make our own tabletops, providing us some valuable practice in these techniques.
