Hideaway Island, Port Vila, Vanuatu - What You Can Do With a Day Pass to Hideaway Island

Hideaway Island is a small resort island just off the coast from Port Vila Vanuatu. It has its own ferry service that runs from the island to Mele, just north of Port Vila.
If you are visiting on a cruise ship you can get a water taxi to the island or a taxi/bus to Mele and get the Island ferry across.
A day pass will not give you access to the Hideaway Island Resort pool and but you will be able to use the beach facilities such as loungers, shades/umbrellas, tables, beach bar and cafe and the famous underwater post box where you can actually post a card (purchased from the gift shop) and it will be collected by Vanuatu Post and delivered to whoever you address it to (within reason).
When we went a day pass was AU$25 and water taxi from the cruise ship AU$50 per person return. You can negotiate a single price if there are a few of you.

If you have not been you need to get to Erakor island I’ve been twice once to stay and once off the ship for a day trip, it’s absolutely stunning and with a amazing history still on the little island

Thanks for sharing the lovely snorkelling photos. We have stayed at Hideaway and been several times using a taxi/bus from the cruise ships. Have a blast every time.

Hi Deb. She got a bit too much sun on Mystery Island and didn’t want to get more and be ill/sore for New Year’s Eve which was the same day as Hideaway.

oh yep makes sense :) just a reminder for us to take sunscreen :) you have mentioned previously in your videos to buy reef safe sunscreen, would you know where i can purchase some please when we get up to brisbane?? thought maybe itd be good to have for airlie beach too :)@@robandalicruisetravel

Thanks. I use GoPros for most videos, primarily because they have fantastic stabilisation and I don’t need to worry as much about getting them wet or damaged. They are no good in low light though so recently I bought a Sony ZV-1 which is fantastic. Still trying to work out the best settings though.

Pacific Encounter and Pacific Adventure are sister ships, they are almost identical.
