Nakata truly was the inspiration for future Japanese stars, as he was the first one to really make his mark in Europe and that's especially tough in Italy at the time. Later, you would also get greats like Ono, Takahara, Kagawa, Nagatomo and Okazaki. Japan has truly become the leading football nation in Asia.
