Modern solid state HiFi hasn’t progressed tremendously since Pass made himself known. It’s gotten digital with AV types & conveniences like remote control, etc. His earlier company Threshold easily stands along his current models, especially where clarity is concerned. They were a straight-forward, purist designs of no compromise. I own his 1980 Stasis3 amp & SL10 preamp, still all original, but will be restored & upgraded next year. I’m also the original owner of a set of 1979 KEF Model 105 Series 1 speakers. These were used by Pass for his critical listening evaluations! Vintage may be old, but it’s not outdated. You can save thousands vs his current prices, & not sacrifice sound quality at all, even if restoration is needed. If your equipment has you visiting the chiropractor, that’s the good stuff!👍😎.

Absolutely agree that new stuff isn't necessarily better - just different. Sounds like you got some great gear!

I haven't owned or listened to INT-60 but I had a long time back (and repent selling it) the X5 - 5 channel amp and loved PassLabs amps. Unfortunately most hi-end audio has increased 3x in prices. I can't afford a PassLabs anymore! ... and thanks for an 'honest' review :) .. if you listen to other reviewers ... you never hear anyone say anything negative .. everything is better than an equivalent that is 2x or 3x more .. and the ones that are 2x to 3x more are better than those costing 2x or 3x more! You get the drift!

I agree about other reviewers. While I will never call something 'bad' just because I don't care for the sound, I will describe what I hear so others can decide if the gear is right for them!

You described the character of this amplifier perfectly. The bass has mass, but it lacks contour and edge. I listened to the XA100.8 a lot, and although it wasn't bright, it was reactive. The source changes a lot. For some time I had Linn Klimax DSM/3 with Organic and Utopik at home. But it worked with my amp. The progress brought by Klimax was stunning (I normally play on Linn Selekt DSM/3 with Oragnik and Utopik. So the Source can change a lot.

OK guys - for everyone who've messaged me telling me how bad my videos are - bear with me as I've only got a few videos under my belt. :) I hope to improve over time and be as good as the reviewers you compare me to who have been doing this for years. New videos are going to be broken into sections - Overview; Front; Rear; Listening Impressions. I do appreciate EVERYONE who watches my videos!

I imagine the Pass Labs INT-250 would be the best of both worlds here. Would have all the positive characteristics of the INT-60 but with more energy, weight and bass heft.

Could be. From what I hear the INT-60 and the INT-250 do sound a bit different.

Great review. Especially since I am a Naim fan (SN3 in my system and love the sound). But I am looking for a different (warmer) sound in a second system and this might fill the bill. Thanks. Just found you. I will keep watching.

Thanks for watching! Just keep in mind it's a Class A amp and they are an acquired taste. Also be sure to check out Accuphase for a bit warmer sound. They make legendary gear.

Hi guys - a quick note that Mark (goes my MEP on audio forums) from Positive Feeback has been stalking and harassing us on audio forums since he was really offended I used the word "honest" in this review. It's sad to see that the dying legacy old reviewers are taking to harassing vids on YT to make up for the fact they don't like that it's easier than ever for us as audio lovers to discuss gear that they can't control. It's quite sad to see and we feel sorry for such angry old people as that.

Great review I just subscribed thank you very much for this. What do you think about the INT 25 saving few bucks if I got that one
@GreekAudioGeek
@GreekAudioGeek Жыл бұрын
Thanks for subscribing! My issue with the INT25 is there is no pre-amp out. So if you run a line-level sub like I do, you can't use it with the INT-25.

Have you head any of the Pass Labs integrated amps? If so, what is your impression of them?

I've owned the Pass Labs INT-250 for a year upgrading from some EL34 100w mono blocks I'd been happily running for 20 years. The Pass beats the valve mono's on every level with even the mid and treples being very valve like yet with the tranny control. The bottom end is head knockingly solid, imaging, aire, and soundstage are pinpoint accurate. It's so good it leaves me wondering how it could ever sound better. Yeah - its pricy but this is a end game buy for me. So as you can guess, I'm over the moon with the Pass Labs, it's the best amp I've own by some way.

@@GreekAudioGeek awesome amp, bass centric and dynamic, very resolving but yet not fatiguing to me - but I'm 60 so my hearing probably ain't bat-like. Btw Mike from Suncoast seems like a great guy, likely the main reason his business is booming, other brick and mortar hifi owners could learn a few things from him.

@@dman7776 Interesting - I've found my Klipsch speakers (again the latest versions) to NOT be bright at all. I think they are very gear-dependent. They also need at least 300 hours burn in to even off in sound.
