Delighted for John Higgins making this epic clearance, retaining his Top 16 spot ...& into another Crucible QF (his 18th !). This match will go down in the annals. Words like classic and great are bandied around far too much but this was absolutely captivating. Allen was looking bang on it in that last frame too but just over cuts the red. I’ve been watching snooker since the 80s. I’ve never seen a more remarkable counter clearance to win a deciding frame. Even by John's standards, that's an outrageous clearance. The double to start it off, the last red near the top cushion, not to mention all the permutations that if he'd lost he was out the top 16. That's up there with the one he made to win the Masters against O'Sullivan in 2006, arguably even better given the circumstances.

That was epic the double or nothing shot, plus that red he had the cue ball to perfection up to that that moment. Hendrie called it "What have you done John" after catching the jaws on that colour putting himself in a presure cooker shot on the red but the pot and position after that was perfection. Somebody put the braveheart theme tune to this.
