1.There were two lofty ships From old England they set sail Blow high, blow low And so sail we One was the Prince of Luther And the other Prince of Wales All a-cruisin’ down the coast Of High Barbary 2. “Aloft there, aloft there” Our jolly bosun cried Blow high, blow low And so sail we “Look ahead, look astern, Look to win’ward an’ a-lee” All a-cruisin’ down the coast Of High Barbary 3. “There’s naught upon the stern, sir There’s naught upon our lee Blow high, blow low And so sail we But there’s a lofty ship to wind’ard An’ she’s sailin’ fast and free” All a-cruisin’ down the coast Of High Barbary 4. ” Hail her, oh hail her” Our gallant captain cried Blow high, blow low And so sail we “Are you a man-o-war Or a privateer?” cried he All a-cruisin’ down the coast Of High Barbary 5. “Oh, no I’m not a man-o-war Nor privateer,” said he Blow high, blow low And so sail we “But I am salt sea pirate All a-looking for me fee” All a-cruisin’ down the coast Of High Barbary 6. For Broadside, for broadside A long time we lay Blow high, blow low And so sail we ‘Til at last the Prince of Luther Shot the pirate’s mast away All a-cruisin’ down the coast Of High Barbary 7. " oh quarter oh quarter " Those pirates did they cry Blow high blow so sail we But the quarter that we gave em Was me sank em in sea

So you're telling me, the song I've had on my spotify playlist for months now, is by a severely underrated choir? Come on KZfaq. You'll recommend how to break someone's neck but not this?

I wish I had this drinking song back in college. For all the times I visited college parties or shared a brew with some bro's, we never had a real drinking song.

I love the dramatic take, both from the instruments and the voices! You know how to build up the tension that the lyrics have in them, a very worthy interpretation indeed. Shiver me timbers, t'is true me lads.

@@stormweathershantychoir7613 Aye aye. I think that a classy song like this one might do very well on the channel "A Pirate's Life" here on KZfaq, only in case you haven't thought of contacting them yet. I'm sure there are a lot more pirate and sea shanty fans like myself who would keep this track on repeat from dusk till dawn as soon as they heard about it.

Missed the last and best verse: "For quarters, for quarters' The saucy pirates cried. But the quarters that we gave them Was to sink them in the tide. And sure it was a sorry sight, And grieved us full sore For to see them all a drowning As they tried to swim to shore' !!

Does anyone know what this missing lyric is: Are you a man of war, or a private ______ ? It sounds like ‘ah cry he’.
