Some orthodontic mechanics may seem very simple, such as when a canine is in a high position in the upper arch. It seems our fingers itch to place a continuous archwire in a situation like this. However, using continuous archwires in such a case can significantly harm the bony connection and the root of the canine, as it will be pushed labially. Therefore, there are more efficient and quicker mechanics than this approach. The use of loops, such as the box-loop, can be a good alternative, incorporating counter-moments to the force moment, which is undesirable in this case.
