So early today. Good on ya Gurl. Accurate and precise. 3.25" rainfall previous 24hr. here in the hot spot, Guate. The fish are happy in the lake, but not as happy as me, a long time dryland permaculturist. Living in a rural indigenous community where supplemental irrigation is simply not practiced, rainfall is pura vida. Feel like a little kid in a candy store! and you say the best is yet to come! You made my day! Thank you very much Gurl Dani'i! ❤

At 00:38 is marked in red where a tropical low pressure system will be, in the Gulf of Campeche. Anywhere in the world, there are 3 fundamentals regarding whether a tropical low pressure system is substantially likely to become a severe tropical cyclone in a rapid manner. 1. Sea surface temperature above 29 3/4 degrees Celsius. 2. Sufficient distance from the Equator. 3. Low enough wind speed at 19 kilometers of altitude. In the Gulf of Campeche on Monday June 17 2024, the first two requirements are met, but there is a definite "no" from requirement 3. Regarding requirement 3, the windspeed at 19 kilometers of altitude is about 70 kilometers per hour. At about half that windspeed, requirement 3 would be a "maybe", but 70 kilometers per hour is simply too fast of a wind at 19 kilometers of altitude to allow speedy development of a tropical low pressure system at the current sea surface temperature of 30 degrees Celsius. In a science fiction world where the sea surface temperature was 40 degrees Celsius instead of 30 degrees Celsius, the answer would be "maybe", but in the real world of the early 21st Century, the answer is a definite "no" to rapid development. Technically, the reasoning has to do with wind shear. With a 70 kilometer per hour wind at 19 kilometers of altitude, the wind shear numbers will simply be too large to allow rapid development. Interestingly, the windspeed at 10 kilometers of altitude, a windspeed that is now at mostly less than 20 kilometers per hour, is much lower over the Gulf of Campeche, making the formation of a tropical depression there easy. At higher altitudes, though, the strong wind currently over the Gulf of Campeche makes hurricane status very unlikely under current conditions.
