While his campaign is always horrible, Teclis in sfo and radious is WILD. The unique spells in Radious do SO MUCH Damage. "teclis' Vortex" I think its called legit deletes any infantry it touches and hes got a few other super strong unique spells. In SFO he gets spells as army abilities through unique research and a few are pretty wild. I agree his skills are lopsided but even in vanilla hes plenty strong, chain lightning is good. Hes a case where a few minor tweaks could really make a big diffeence. ( and better climates at least jeez)

I have to say it's fun sending Tyrion up against an army almost single handedly and crush them beneath his heels.

I actually like Teclis' starting position cause the other starting positions are too easy imo (one exception might be Imrik but he got a fire mage, who is very effective against skaven/low tier chaos dwarf slaves). My strategy for fighting Kairos early (within turn 10-15): eagles. Recruit 3 of them and with your phoenix you have a pretty decent goon squad vs the flying demon. After that sell Kairos' territory to Oxyotl you will have a pretty decent foundation. The only annying things are the victory conditions, which should be reworked. @Costin: Isn t there a quest battle for Teclis after that you have vision on Ulthuan? Just wondering.

Ive been playing an Imrik Campaign where ive secured my starting province then ditched it and gone to eastern colonies, then ive gone and secured the daemon coast and given half of it to teclis, Ulthuan has been invaded by morathi and skeggi so im about to go up and reclaim the homeland after ive secured a bit of lustria, really good fun.

I actually quite like Teclis. Not overpowered to say the least, but I enjoy him regardless. You make several good points about him but it also shows you are not quite objective in his review (for example bashing his fireball bound and saying you would much rather have fiery convocation...which he actually also gets). :p

I feel like Teclis was put where he was purely to be an opponent for Kairos and Teclis himself has been forgotten. It's genuinely baffling that you think teclis is a bad spellcaster though, with Yuan Bo's defeat trait he can cast Chain Lightning for 3 winds, 3 winds, and he has life leeching. The amount of Ward Save he gets also makes him one of the easiest one man doomstacks to build, I did it pretty much by accident on my campaign. You're absolutely not playing him right by spending skill points on his army, they're just his audience.

Teclis is easily the strongest high elf lord if you know how math works. At 90% damage reduction a unit is ten times stronger than it is normally and teclis can get 86% from quest items and skills alone. If you combine his extra winds of magic, his extra lore passives, and cost reductions he is vastly better than most spell casters and almost as good as Balthazar. (Balthazar's searing doom spell doesn't cost down to 1, it costs down to 1.75 but it still says 1 which is deceiving)

They should make Teclis a semi-horde faction like Malakai to fit on his role of defending the world from chaos, mby Elsbeths gardens of morr mechanic to teleport to allied cities (kislev, empire, the donut , cathay ? exc..... think i just love malakai horde army letting you play around the world with him.

@@OctoberSaint500 I could see that but I don't even think it is necessary. He just needs a better spot on the map. They keep giving him the worst places. First Lustria now this. I think giving him a Saphery confed event would be nice as well. Saphery are usually the biggest dick heads of the High Elves and get wiped out by Tyrion or Alarielle anyways (there is actually a mod for this on the workshop for Teclis to get a Saphery confed event). I think making him be similar to how Gelt is for Cathay make Teclis that but for the Empire would make more sense. Have him ally with Karl Franz and be trying to build an alliance between the High Elves and Empire. Teclis created the college of mages for the Empire hundreds of years ago so he has ties to that. As well he should be able to learn any spell from any lore of magic with some kind of unique mechanic I think. So you could customize him to use your favorite spells rather than just giving him all the passives and like 1 spell option from each lore.

@@quickpawmaud Hmm... the problem is that you would have to fight against Teclis as Franz when uniting the Empire. Like currently you have to fight against Kislev when they conquer empire territories captured previously by Vlad/Drycha.

@@quickpawmaud Hmm... that would make more sense but that would throw him out of Empire's sphere. They could put him in the Empire and give something similar to Changeling (undercities system) but focused only for empire factions. When somebody that is not the part of the Empire would capture the city of your host then your undercity would be destroyed. That could allow for symbiotic gameplay with the Empire. But knowing the Creative Assembly we will never see such ideas in action 😢

Teclis needs to be somewhere else, and be far better than even what Gelt has being that you know.. literal magic God mage for the Elves that brought magic to the Empire and showed them how to use it. Aweful skill tree, position, campaign, it makes no sense at all.

Dude honestly thinks starting area climate is Teclis's biggest issue. His biggest issue is that he is weak compared to his lore.

Eltharion is best. Best climate, most influence, best hero, AP ranged units, unlimited ammo (ally recruit hawk riders and artillery is broken)... only problem is you ally the entire ordertide and then there is no one to fight :(
