Ordered mine in November 21. Received it 13th April, and it’s hardly left my wrist since. I’m absolutely loving it! I have more watches than I have any right to deserve, but this one is at the top. It’s not perfect (no watch is), the 904L stainless scratches easily (same as Rolex) the ghost hour hand only moves forward in hour increments, so you have to re-set the date if you travel to timezones behind GMT, but it does have a quickset date. It keeps great time, looks fantastic on the wrist, and Horage customer service is second to none. Those of us who pre-ordered were able to vote on various design feature before the watch went into production. I don’t know of any other brand that offers that. Well done Horage, and thanks Andrew for letting the secret out of the bag!

One more cool thing about this watch: it uses 904L steel, the higher end steel (the same used by Rolex). For those who don’t know the brand but they want to get into it: they offer good discounts if you place your order during the early birds; for example you could have had this watch for about ~$4,500. Second, they offer a loyalty discount if you already have a watch from them. PS. I an not associated in anyway with Horage, just someone who did his research and decided to vote with his money for a Supersede.

1. I like this watch because they correct so many obvious design errors of other watches. This is so good I can forgive the dial-side power reserve. The problem is the price point. Not that it's outrageous or unjustified, but there's a lot of competition in that bracket. 2. The watch is a mixtape. And I like mixtapes. Thank you Mr. Hands for the memories. Here are a few more for you. 2. Moments in Love is really about Trevor Horn. I also like these two brilliant Trevor Horn tracks in the same vein: Grace Jones, "Don't cry, it's only the rhythm" and Seal, "Violet". If you don't have quality speakers or earphones, you do yourself no favors... 3. Papua New Guinea. Most excellent choice. Mix into Little Fluffy Clouds by the Orb. Or get a bit more soulful with Loose Ends, "Don't be a Fool".

I finally got mine today. It's a fantastic watch, I love the fit and the finish of this thing and for the price it's a steal. I got mine in the October early bird pre-order wave and it finally showed up today. It was a bit hard to swallow the time gap where I paid my money and then had to wait until now to finally get the watch but all of that just kind of melted away as soon as I had this watch in my hand. The micro rotor is a little loud but that's okay and the watch wears like a 39.5 despite being an integrated bracelet. It's very thin and also hefty, nothing about it feels cheap. If I compare it to my VC overseas you can see that both of them are of similar quality. In fact, I took this watch to my local AD to get it resized and every single person in there was talking about it. It is truly an eye-catcher, and I had multiple people ask me what about horage. In fact the guy who did the resizing kept saying that the movement looked like a patek.

The question is can you get another GMT micro rotor watch rated at 200m? The only watch I can think comes close is the Slim d'Hermès GMT. The cheapest version of that watch I could find was the Hodinkee version that sold for $14,700 dollars and was gone in minutes on the hodinkee site. I like the quirks of the watch and as I got in on the pre-order it was as cheap as something like this was going to get. There are other GMT watches (not micro-rotors) from JLC and Cartier but they start at 9,000 dollars. Of course there are cheaper, more basic GMT models but if you compare feature for feature, this is a great watch for the price.

I need it with the brushed links and the platinum rotor. I also need a pay raise to justify its existence in my collection. The toolier, the better. One of my new grails? As to the mixed tape, Close to the edit, The Art of Noise, then some 808 State, Pacific 202, a sprinkle of Cameo, add a little Donna Summer and infused with a smidgen of The Specials, Ghost town is a must. Honorable mentions, Howard Jones, the Thompson Twins, Matt Bianco, the Eurythmics. I digress. The watch is everything I want except the logo, it's too modern, date position, six please. Also, bring the power reserve to the three to balance the appearance. This would allow full indices for the whole dial apart from the six. Oh crap! By writing this, I just realized I don't want this watch.

 Reply@Felsl Andi I think one of the major issues with Horage’s failure to manufacture, certify, and deliver watches is it calls into question both the horological and industrial engineering capability. Did the design of the K2 fail to take into consideration the intricacies of regulating a watch to COSC standards? And since this seems so difficult for Horage what does that say about the regulation of the watches that haven’t been certified? And from your live streams you were waiting for quite a while after the design was final and parts made for patents to expire before submitting the watch movements to COSC. Why wasn’t this period used to run test assembly and regulation? Instead you were busy designing and assembling another new design, diverting assembly and manufacture engineering resources in order to deliver this newer project ahead of the Supercede; this doesn’t show customer focus. This significant failure to deliver, while you are busy working other projects, doesn’t show management focus on the Supercede project. Additionally failing to meet a specification requirement, like the thickness (which was advertised and part of the purchase agreement), to meet an optional goal calls into question engineering design processes at Horage as well. And the thickness was advertised at below 10mm up to a few weeks ago. While it might be arguable the extra half millimeter isn’t a big difference, it was one of the selling points (as shown by Andrew highlighting it), and one of the items that define the relative value of the watch-and the whole reason to use a micro rotor. Making a regular self winding rotor in a thin sports watch was seen as too difficult (yet CW has now shown the way).

As of now we are happy with sales. We are running pretty small volume on that. Including our investment into engineering of K2 since 2016 we end up somewhere in this pricing category. Sure excellent product for acceptable price is the thing we work towards and of course there are also some limits both up and downwards when it comes to pricing. Established big brands might go much higher with their pricing if they would have such a product. On the other hand our pricing capacity downwards is somewhat also limited if we want to continue to innovate and operate an above average large engineering team. Thanks for your thoughts, Andi.

It's nice but not worth the money IMO. Especially when you look at the fact that you could get it cheaper a few months ago with various early bird offers. It devalues the entire proposition. I don't like thinking of watches as investments. But I'm not going to pick something like this over a JLC Polaris date (used) or an Omega GMT. At least with those watches I kinda know where I stand should I want to resell for something else.

Unfortunately this is a very misleading review. To start with, from my experience you can’t have one. I ordered one in early Apr 2022, and paid for it, but still no watch and no indication when I might eventually get one. It seems Horage is having serious problems just trying to make these. Also, it is not slimmer than a centimeter as Andrew states, and Horage advertises. They fattened it up by 1.3mm in order to get that 200m water resistance, and it is now 10.3mm thick; still rather slim but not really anything to write home about. But since it remains to be seen if you can actually get one in hand maybe that isn’t important. But since you can get a Christopher Ward integrated bracelet COSC certified watch in titanium instead of stainless steel that is thinner than 9mm and costs less than a third the price the Supercede no longer seems the big leap it did last year.

@andifelsl

@cos-9113 First of all thanks for deciding to order this watch and support us by doing so. Yes you are right, we have some challenges getting the watches out the door faster. This is mainly due to the fact that after having started the development of K2 in 2016, this Supersede project served as an initial going to market platform where we would inevitably face some unknowns along production. And with this uncharted territory situation some challenges arise when putting a new movement through its first major production run. We were and are convinced that the K2 design is ready for series production, but sure we have also underestimated the process of getting through COSC with a new movement. This is because our team needs to figure out how to regulate accordingly, to be able to increase the pass rate during Chronometer certification. There is a lot of dialing in of internal processes coming along our way right now. Furthermore, since the movements will only be tested without winding mechanism and dial side GMT module due to COSC testing requirements, we need to add parts and go through an extended additional test-run after the official certification process. Again there is a lot of fine tuning to be done and with every optimization on some aspects of our workflow we basically need to go back through a test cycle. Just to make sure watches leaving our workshop work fine. We have significantly increase our workforce to cope with the job at hand and as of now we stand at around 60% of watches from the current order backlog being shipped. We hope all of them are finally being shipped until middle of July. When it comes to thickness, we had to play it on the safe side and communicated this change. Perhaps in the review this information got lost. As you said and from the first feedback of the people who wear it, the thickness and overall proportion are well appreciated, and these extra tenths of millimeters do not make a significant difference. Perhaps on paper it would have looked nicer I agree, but in reality, it works fine with the overall look and feel. You bring up Christopher Ward as a comparison both in price and thickness. Firstly I want to congratulate them for the good job they do. We know members of the management and people working there and sure they have done a very good job in the past 19 years. They have been the first to understand the online business model and that going as direct as possible will allow them to offer a lot of watch for the money. Amazing achievement and as far as I can see they are a brand which will stay in the world of watches. It is these brands which we can credit to that fine mechanical watchmaking is gaining wider popularity, because they give this industry a new direction and make interesting watches more accessible. Well done. The Twelve is built on a SW300 which comes COSC ready from Sellita. My assumption is that this movement is currently produced at around 400.000 units per year. Although a more than 40 years old design it is a very good movement which through shear economy of scale over centuries can be offered at a fraction of the price compared to a brand new movement like our K2. At Horage we develop new high performing movements, and we try to offer them for an acceptable price by scaling production within our capabilities and keeping cost in check. Maintaining an above average large engineering team as a small company is unusual for an industry where most companies put their resources in sales and marketing. We think our right to exist is based on our ability to design and manufacture our own high performance movements and to give people access to the act of doing this. Perhaps there would be more easy ways to earn money, but we have made this decision to play the long game because we think there is room in the market for a brand like Horage which wants to demonstrate its chronometric capabilities and take its customers on this creation journey. Yes, and there are a lot of uncertainties along the way and we appreciate the trust and patience most of our fans put into what we do. Everybody who has a chance to come to Biel is welcome any time to get a first-hand impression on what we do and sure at some point some of the challenges we face along the manufacturing will be more understandable. That should not be an excuse for our current delay, but sometimes some things are being underestimated by people like us who take risks to make this industry more versatile and exciting. Then the only option left for risk takers like us is to ask for forgiveness and do our best to get the problems presenting themselves out of our way as quickly as possible. I think nobody is more happy than our team when all the watches have gone out the door. Just because the pressure we expose ourselves to during this first production run period is pretty high and not very comfortable at times. But we need to get through it now. And with the help and patience of our supporters I am sure we are only getting better every day. Finally some thoughts on the height comparison with the Twelve. Compared to the SW300 3-hands spec of the Christopher Ward watch, we need to make room to stack two additional hands (day-night indicator and GMT hand) underneath the regular 3-hands arrangement. Although the movement features the same height of 3.6mm as the Sellita (which has no additional function), we needed to make room for the hands with enough security in between them. Adding this hands stack in combination with our desire of better water resistance we ended up a little above the 10mm. In the overall context looking up- and down-market at comparable products, we think this is a very competitive offering in terms of style, performance, pricing and the story which comes a long with it. Including all the hiccups which we try to reduce to the minimum and handle them in the best possible and transparent way. Thanks again for your trust and in case you feel you want to have a more direct line of communication please reach out to me via Whatsapp or just drop a call. This is my private number +41798207402. I still think Horage needs much refinement to their design language, the digital-grid pattern is basic and not pleasing to the eyes. Instead of cramming more on the design, they need to think more about nuances and proportions, maybe take a page off the similarly positioned modern styles of Fortis flieger or Hermes H08.

Let’s say we are getting better and better with every watch we make. At least this is what I observe from me being inside the company and being able to see how much refinement and discussion is going back and forth between the designs and engineering teams. But of course tastes and expectations vary a lot and we think this look goes well with us.

@@TheOwlGuy777 I had a look again at the piece in the metal here and moved it around in the light because of course I appreciate every input as a founder of the company. I also checked the pictures which have been made by independent reviewers online to see if there is really a problem of legibility with this combination. When pictures are being made with perfect lighting and from the front it might appear that the contrast is low: However in reality and due to the angeled diamond cut surfaces which point in different directions, the light hitting the silver surface, when slightly moving the watch out of its front plane, creates darker shades on at least one of the angled places to make good contrast to the white underground. I would even say the white is perhaps the one with the strongest contrast effect under changing light conditions. But anyhow thanks for your input.

Nope. Appears well executed but some puzzling design choices. No indices for the GMT hand? On a $7k watch that is a deal breaker for me.

Really nice watch, but who buys these cheap rubber bracelets that most luxury brands offer these days? It's an offense to these kind of watches.

@@Griffin1994 source? It’s a kickstarter brand with verbiage specifically about design and engineering in Biel, not manufacturing all parts there. It’s well-known in the watch industry that the label “Swiss made” is a very weak standard, to the point a watch with only a Swiss hairspring and all other parts Made in China, but that’s assembled in Switzerland, can be labeled “Swiss made.” Even Omega sources from Asia now and and even changed the verbiage on their website from “fully manufactured in Switzerland” to “Swiss made.” I applaud the small companies, like Sartory Billard, who actually list their suppliers and countries of origin. “Swiss made” doesn’t actually mean much.

@@cedshred1676 I am not sure where you get all your insider information from. First rule should be to buy from the best. And I think we have been very transparent about what we buy from where. But of course this requires following us and looking at what we do in detail. I can assure you that the majority of movement parts are being sourced from within Switzerland, because this is the place where you get the quality parts you need to make a premium swiss movement. Law even if it exists is secondary in this regards.
