+First Amendment Dumb answer! "Gee, why don't ya just pack up and move?" Wow! I never thought of that! Move where, idiot?! You can't escape this trend. Gas prices, grocery prices, higher rent, insurance rates, this is happening everywhere. People are being priced out. So you suggest just move somewhere far from your family to a place you know nothing about just because it's less expensive? So, like, maybe some shit town in the middle of West Virginia would have appeal just because the housing is cheap? The only way out of it is to move to another country or take your chances with the afterlife. Or, buy a tent. Living in tents is on the rise. Or maybe you can crash out in your storage unit, get a membership at Planet Fitness and shower there. There certainly has to be another way because we need to be able to keep our hard earned money. Moving is very expensive and giving up our job and trying to find another is wreckless. But Americans are stupid and don't boycott anything and buy what they are sold and pay the asking prices. They are easily subdued so this trend will continue.

I live in Texas, bought a condo back in the 80's in an excellent neighborhood surrounded by expensive beautiful homes. Paid the 30 year loan early. I receive calls & letters from investors wanting to buy my condo, even offering to pay cash for it. However, I'm in my 60's now, & don't make the big buck like I did when I was younger. I'm actually making a poverty salary right now, so starting over to pay someone else rent is out of the question??😧. When you don't have rent or a mortgage your other bills are easier to manage without the unnecessary stress.

@@jakejones5736 How is that possible? I live in a rent stabilized apt. for many years and if I had to pay "market" rents I would be homeless and I have a decent job and a college degree but my salary isn't enough to afford $2500 a month rent or more, which is the market rent for rentals in my area. Most who live in rent stabilized apts are there because they cannot afford market rents. Many of my neighbors are in the same boat. They work full time and are not lazy or unemployed, however, some jobs just don't pay as much as others. I'm a real estate paralegal and I make about $60K a year. That is actually more than some paralegals make in larger law firms. My b/f makes around $25k a year (he works part time due to health reasons and is too young to collect SS and doesn't qualify for disability) but even $85k a year isn't much in NY. We are trying to save money so when we retire we can leave NY for a cheaper State. Between food, transportation, cell phones, utilities, credit card debt, and rent, we don't have much left over and we try and save whatever we can. We sacrifice alot to save money. My rent is $1,600 a month. If I had to pay more, I would not be able to save a dime, plus when we retire, our SS wont' be enough to cover everything. I've already done the math based on what we will most likely get from SS if we wait to retire until 65 or 66 years of age.

It isn't any better north of Sacramento. The house we were renting went into foreclosure and sold at public auction.The new owner just wanted to "flip" the house for profit. I lost track of the number of applications we submitted (with non-refundable fees) just to be told that there were at least 20 before us. We got the keys to our current home 24 hrs before we would have been evicted from the other place. There just aren't enough affordable rentals for people that are in that twilight zone between earning too much to qualify for any kind of assistance, but just enough to survive. Add to that the fact that my mother and sister are both disabled, and it makes finding reasonable accomodations next to impossible.

I think it's actually amazing how many people just didn't see this becoming a reality.... If over the course of a 50 year period, people continue to have kids , all over the world, and people continue moving to larger cities, what did people THINK would happen. Most people end up having 2+ kids, in some cases I've seen women have 5 or more. When these people get older they also need places to live. If you want to cut down all forests and wild life to build more, sure, that's possible, but then you end up with a gray dead city. I'm not sure how so many people can be shocked that demand has gone up in major cities as the worlds population continues to rise. Just a bit of foresight, this will only continue and prices will continue to go up because people will keep having kids and land will become scarce, just in case you were unaware.

No, not entirely true. The problem is we haven't built enough housing and that is mostly the fault of of the 2008 bubble. The government needs to get on the ball about making it easier for housing to be built. The population will always grow but we have to be smart about how we deal with that growth (more urban and less sprawl). We need to go up instead of out and we need to build smaller homes and less 3 car garage homes. The size of the homes is also making housing unaffordable. $200 a square foot when building a 3500 square foot home is a $700,000 home. $200 a square foot on a 1000 square foot home is $200,000 and that is affordable.

If there is no capital available to get a lone to build high density apartments or buy land to do so and regulations make buying and building very difficult then the cost of land and/or housing rent is going to be artificially inflated many fold. Also, if tax insentives are established to encourage people to speculate on housing purchases rather than view housing as a cost then buyers of houses will desire housing costs to go up instead of down. All of these things occur in the USA so it should not be surprising that housing costs are much higher than they should be. Also, many people have an irrational aversion to living in small apartments so they are not built. 21 to 30 square meters is all a person needs and this is what a single person uses in Countries like Japan or Korea or even less. A person in Tokyo can also rent a nicer whole house for less than a studio efficiency in the USA. Search for the KZfaq video "What a $1600 House Looks Like in Tokyo!" for example. Japanese does not have the level of regulations when it comes to building so it is much easier. Financing laws may also be different. Putting regulations on the economy as controlled by the state is called Fascism in contrast to outright ownership of the property by the state which is called socialism/communism. Fascism drives up costs, but is very popular even by the very people who complain about the results. The population is not rational or rights respecting and thus suffers at their own hands.

I see stories of rent being to high, buying a home is out of reach for most people, jobs not paying enough and the list goes on and on, the one thing i have noticed in all these stories no matter which state red or blue, the one thing these stories have in common is this. Urban and suburban sprawl, and the fact that cities are giving huge tax breaks to companies just to relocate or build in their cities, then after a few years the business shuts down leaving unused land, and buildings leaving community blight. So here is my solution and some one please correct me if i am wrong. If a city can take land or a home from its residents under the guise of eminent domain, and give it to a corporation, then why cant the city take urban blighted land from the owner of the land and give it to some one who wants to build more affordable and community friendly homes for purchase and for renters. They have already given the company a tax break, taking money from the community so wouldn't it make sense if the city recouped the tax money from those who want to buy or rent in a particular area?

I remember back in 1971 an organization called "ZPG" Zero Population Growth came to my college (B.U.) to give a talk and I think only 5 people showed up from the entire campus! Basically, everything they said & warned about, almost 50 years ago now has come true. Also, (and I'm absolutely NOT a GOPer, never will be) but our country simply cannot take on 20 million illegals. Perhaps it's more. Our physical and economic INFRASTRUCTURE simply cannot handle it all. If the population grows but you can't grow more land to accomodate that growth, what you're left with is the US's job & cultural centers become unaffordable to middle income wage earners. My net worth is seven figures but in Manhattan where I hope to retire, I'm not even sure that would allow me to rent a studio! Yes, you can find more afordable housing if you're willing to go further away from your job, or where most of the high paying jobs are located, but the trade off then becomes insane amounts of commuting time. Do you really want to spend 60-90 mins commuting 1 way daily? 2 hours a day simply to get to your job? Do you really want to spend several of the best years of your life waking up before sunrise and returning home after dark completely exhausted? That's what it's increasingly become. Not only that, but in my bedroom community of Westchester County, NY - there's absolutely not a single thing to do on weekends, unless you want to commute back into NYC again. The joke here has always been that they roll up the sidewalks after 5pm. It might as well be true. Yes, the 'burbs are great IF you want (and can afford) a private home with a porch, front and back yard to raise a family & have your kids attend the best private schools, but just know that for anyone who doesn't have kids, these vacuous suburbs are the inspiration for "The Stepford Wives" way of life. Do you really want to spend every single afternoon chauffering your kids from one after school play date to another? Yech! It's all really simple economics. Nothing terribly difficult. Yes, there's lots of places to live where the rent is cheap in the USA. In Wyoming you can rent a palace for what a closet will cost you in Manhattan or Frisco. But you better be ready to spend all your free time in front of the boob Tube because there are (no joke) more Cattle Than People in Wyoming! An old friend's father moved his family out to Backwater, Indiana several years back & it was so dead & desolate, they ended up moving back to just outside Boston. Mind friend said that there are parts of the mid-west where he could drive for 1 hour and not see another car. And if you didn't like Nascar racing, you were totally out of luck! Put a male & female rat in a cage & a few months later, you now have 6 rats. A year later that could double or triple. Eventually they will start attacking and then killing each other, and eventually, it'll go back down to just one or two rats. That's what's happened to places like once thriving Detroit. It's killing LA & more Angelenos are now moving to Texas. In my own County, several years ago there was a fire in a private home. By the time the fire dept & police arrived, they determined that the home, which was leased to 1 couple, & zoned for a single family, had illegally housed 17 illegals! (most of whom split permanantly before authorities arrived). The landlord knew what the situation was, but all the illegals pooled their wages and were about to pay a higher than listed price for the rent. That's just one of many cases in my home town, which has now become a sanctuary city. The "starter" apts in my town which used to house new college grads, have all now become over-priced co-ops & condos, permanantly out of reach for all but perhaps the top 10% of wage earners out of college, or couples who're retirement age & have saved up enough. So what's the answer? We really need MORE, NOT LESS goverment intervention to prevent landlords fro rent gouging. I spent a decade watching corrupt landlords and politicians, as well as the local news media, all collude to keep increasing yearly rents with no caps, no watchdogs, essentially, no conscience or concern for others, just their own pocket books (btw, all the while pleasing poverty!). Concluding, the ONLY way we're ever going to knock all our societal problems - Healthcare, Housing, Education, Transportation, Infrastructure & on & on down to size, is to knock our insane population growth down to size. We absolutely HAVE to limit immigration to a Meritocracy. We allow in only those Skilled people who speak English & whom will be an asset to our country. I.e, Doctors, Englineers, Scientists, etc. We don't need any more gardners and construction workers and taxi drivers. Sorry if I sound like a Republican, but hey, even a broken clock is right at least twice in 24 hours. Illegal Mexicans need to correct their own problems & they have to stop have large familes they can't support. Perhaps the time is long overdue to order incentives for couples of child bearing age NOT to have more than 1 child, 2 max. You only have to do the Math to see that anything else is simply a recipe for long term disaster. Control our population growth (Hear that Mr. Pope & Catholic Church!?) or it will control us, and disaster will be the consequence of our lack of forward and long term thinking. But those are SOME of the reasons the Rent IS Too High.

Build more houses! No, that will not fix it! They will raise that too!Greed! Brown cotinues to support his sanctuary cities!Some of that money should have been used to build affordable housing for ALL the citizens of the state. Building more is exactly what needs to be done. They just need to build smaller units to make them affordable. At $200 a square foot you will find that a house that is 1000 square feet is quite affordable compared to one that is 3500 square feet at the same cost.

@brucevilla7490
@brucevilla7490 5 жыл бұрын
@@crucisnh The population will always grow and there is nothing we can do about that. However, we can change the way we live by rearranging our cities to be more transit friendly, with an emphasis on multi family housing vs single family housing. If you took one square block of SF housing away and constructed a condo tower just think about how many more families you could house on just that one block.

I tell you ALL what you can do: Write, call, and show up in person in absolute anger and frustration to your "thieving" legislature, the senators, and to both state and federal representatives. Talk and talk and talk to your neighbors, friends, colleagues, and residents where you live; form community forums online/offline and "get signatures" and create representations to the law making bodies in the city, country, and state. We are losing the country,people, to snowflakes, and to those who don't know anything about anything, have not been in wars in person, have not experienced pain (I am talking about those whose worst problem is to be "unliked" in social media and who order the kind of coffees that will take a minute to finish saying it), who think they can do ANYTHING they want in my country without any ramifications, those who break the law and those who promote breaking the law (the so-called DemoKKKRats and their communist allies). While you are doing all that, educate yourself about how the laws work, and work with those who ARE ALREADY knowledgeable about how the law works. Get educated about finance and gather around "government related" financial experts who will help you through the maze of how the budgeting and expenditures work and how to come up with Financial Policies that will prosper YOU AND YOUR FAMILY FIRST, your country first, and don't worry about the rest of the world. Kick out ALL CURRENT LEGISLATIVE REPS fast, and I mean very very fast and replace them (BY VOTING!) with those who value human life,clean communities, safety and security of law abiding, and tax paying citizens, the love of country, FIRST AND SECOND AMENDMENTS, decency and fairness for all, higher wages, lower taxes, promotion of small business development that will generate tax income for local communities and overall nationwide,etc. There is a lot more to share, and I don't get paid for this and my future recommendations. Just wanted to very briefly answer the question in this video's description. If there are enough viewers who are interested in really doing something to better their lives, I am available to work with them and it will be FREE.
