Shopify’s fraud analysis helps you identify orders that could be fraudulent. Review high-risk orders to avoid potential chargebacks. Fulfilling high risk orders can result in a higher number of chargebacks and that can result in disabling payment processing and removal from Shopify Payments.
Credit card companies can reverse funds for stolen cards after orders are fulfilled. Shopify helps you to gather evidence for any disputed charges. However, the decision to reverse funds is made by the bank that issued the credit card, not by Shopify. Shopify does not cover charge reversals from banks.
Fraud analysis is designed to work with online credit card orders, when Shopify can verify the payment. This means that some types of orders, including those that are processed offline, don’t receive recommendations.
If your store is on the Basic Shopify plan and you don't have Shopify Payments, then fraud analysis includes the following:

If your store is on the Shopify plan or higher, or you have Shopify Payments on any plan, then fraud analysis includes the following:

support for third-party fraud apps
fraud recommendations.

I recommend cancelling high risk orders and requesting a different card be used. I've requested over email additional verification and while I give them the chance to send this (which of course they never do), they issue a chargeback and I get charged extra bank fees.

Hey Man, thanks a million! I really loved your advice. You explain things the way we can understand. Shopify doesn't use normal lingo and you can tell they don't even want to bring up the topic or explain the outcomes, Bad PR. I'm new to this online store thing, and I had no idea that so much credit card theft was going on! Crap! I thought it was a real safe way of going about taking payments. I thought the credit card companies take the hit, not US. I wonder, is there a "Bank Card Only, or Debit Card, or Interac Only" way of taking payments? All I see is credit card names.... if you could tell me, Id really appreciate it. First-time "Shop-Owner" and just trying to set up my store! Thank you!

Excellent video keep going. Btw could you make a video about if it is worth linking your shopify store to a facebook shop on sales channels ? I am having a lot of trouble with fb shop load speed and others bugs. and I am wondering if its really worth it.

HI Miguel! Thanks for commenting! Alright I will def look into this. Quickly - You want to get your products on the most channels possible IF you can do it without bugs. If it takes you weeks to set up - thats a different story. I believe thats your case - so then I would look at where your buying persona is hanging out (on which channel) and if you're buying persona is spending time on the channel you're having trouble setting up, then I would get some expert advice on helping you move fw. if you're buying persona is not on that channel - I would drop it for now. here is a video on buying personas: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qa5-qaaDu86xpGg.html

Had the first order of expensive goods for over $15,000. Shopify payments marks it as high-risk and freezes payments. I am making a return. My account is minus -500 pounds and a notification that I can no longer use shopify payments!

Fraud issue on shopify are very very bad. If the order is already flagged as fraudulent CANCEL or not Cancel shopify is withdrawing money from your bank account. What can we do to avoid all these?

What to do if there is a conflict between the Indicators and the Risk Assessment? Like Risk Assessment is showing 'Medium Risk' but all the indicators are Green. Or Risk Assessment is showing 'Low Risk' but some indicators are red. How to reconcile them?

what if i call the customer that's bought and in my policy is that i have to record the conversation for purchase proof, or i confirm the purchase proof via email and ask them to send a picture of their driving licences is that too much?, because i have a hair business and for each order spending is around £300-£1000 so i wanna protect my business at all cost but then again I'm thinking doing all that is a bit much.

What's funny is everyone in the comment section have never even attempted to fulfill any of the "high risk orders" 🙄. Like sheep they blindly comply and quiver in fear. (Guess thats the tech industry for you). I've had Like 70-400 "high risk" orders. NONE have charged back. Like this guy said there are MANY MANY real world reasons to trip up the payment algo.
