I noticed Rhiannon sometimes has those moments where she doesn't know what to do during her turn, so I'd like to drop a brief advice I usually give when starting new campaigns: When in doubt, use the Dodge action. Forcing enemies to have disadvantage when attacking you and gaining advantage for DEX saves can be pretty handy, and it's always better than simply not using your action.

Not really a big fan of dodge. And, at least in this case, she wanted to help Tom but didn't see a way to actually do that. All that being said dodge is still better than completely forgoing your turn and would have been something to do here.

What a session! I agree with Tom that Darkness should work on a vehicle and grounding Baba Lysaga was so clutch! Extra points to Mark for crafting such a thrilling encounter and running it so well. This is a pefect example of why I love this channel so much. You all did amazing working together so well to turn what looked like a certain TPK into a victory, albeit a costly one. Speaking of which, now that you have all 3 of the life-giving magic gems as well as probably the Holy Symbol of Ravenkind, the party is in a unique position to potentially bring Yesper back without having to make any dark deals, which we know he'd refuse anyway. I'm sure Trott has an amazing new character waiting in the wings but I just think brining Yesper back so he's there for the final battle would be more epic. I hope you guys at least consider it. Whatever happens next it's sure to be an amazing journey.

Not really. It's a question of being able to affix the spell to something and the rules don't allow for it. Quite a few spells could do this in earlier editions (1st AD&D). But like so many things in early days it opens the door to exploits and shenanigans. A lot of spell evolution throughout Edition changes involved closing OP loopholes (like killing opponents with a simple levitation soell). Not that you can't have it in your own games but I fully understand why Mark doesn't want it in his.

This episode had me so proud of Katie and Kim for being awesome D&D players by taking every opportunity to defeat Baba Lysaga! Just a-maz-ing, and again what Mark Hulmes spoke!! This is why I love CoS because of the dynamics in adventure, story, and really having trust in the DM and their players!!

Rhi with the dice rolls is like the person who plays the slot machine with no idea what the buttons do, so just inserts cash and taps blindly. *zero* idea what's going to happen, but eagerly looking for the outcome. I am suspicious about Trott's new character, I'll know in a little bit. There was a character who appeared in the profile rotation at one point.

This was actually the first satisfying episode since the beginning of the campaign... my god... curse of strahd is such a tough campaign... and such low rolls overall... i am so proud of all of the players!! Nicely done!!!

What a perfect time for this campaign with Wizards coming out with their new guide to Ravenloft book. It would be fantastic if you guys could continue to explore The Domains of Dread after CoS is done.

love Mark as a DM and I understand that you can do mistakes especially If you have so many NPC to control but there were some very big mistakes in this one, Mirrage Arcana takes 10 minutes to cast, you cant misty step when you cant see the point where youre going, the Wereravens have 31 HP so he shouldve survived that hit. It was a great episode regardless but these things made it just so much harder for the party, CoS is brutal enough lol

Pretty sure that portrait is from the changeling notes in the eberron source book. There is no pre existing artwork to represent the creepy mess of the mire 😅

Jeez, when Ireena was on death saving throws I was having flashbacks to Dice Camera Action's run of CoS where they accidentally killed Ireena by knocking her off of Strahds nightmare mount into a 100 something foot free fall and she ended up with her neck snapped in the streets of Krezk.

spoiler mirage arcane (the big forest illusion) has a casting time of 10 minutes, not an action. didn't really matter since kim got lucky with her rolls and it made for a very cinematic ending but still felt it was worth pointing out for future reference.

Have you ever considered trying out Starfinder? Currently, binge-watching the Aerois campaign to learn more about DnD since I'm fairly new, and our group is doing a Starfinder campaign and couldn't see if you had tried it out

Why did Ireena roll for death saves? Did I miss something? I thought sleep just applies the unconscious condition, so you're not dying, you don't even lose any hitpoints from it. Also, I don't like to be the rules lawyer here but Mirage Arcane takes 10 minutes to cast

Yes to Mirage. Ireena was asleep, was woken up, carried by a wereraven, wereraven was killed and dropped her, she took fall damage and went unconscious.

There wasn't really an opportunity. They never attacked it and by the time it became the last foe they were given an alternative means to disable it.

Just the Veteran NPC stat block from MM. No class levels or anything special. PC's just determined to keep him alive. XD

@@kyleweir689 Perhaps that was it,. Baba Lysaga might be powerful enough to cast the spell outside the normal rules, but it was rushed and easier to tell that it was an illusion. *shrugs*

Well, he also had two players use their own abilities to work around the illusion before he told them it was one. Dogsbody used his senses and the ring's connection to Tatiana to find his way through it and Tom Mire tried to use his connection to the land. Mark's already stated the Mire knows what the land knows so the land would know it isn't forest, it's still swamp. So it's more they found ways to figure it out as their characters. And learning it was an illusion didn't really help anyone. Dogsbody seems to have more found his way out of it than really understood that it was fake.
