Oh, my heart! How could it be such a sad and happy moment at the same time? Yesterday he was a little kid, and today he has already graduated. I love that you gave Blake the option of taking a year off. I did and benefited so much from it despite some of the criticism I received from others. During my gap year, I found what I really want to study instead of what I thought I wanted to study.

I look forward to watching Blake's future at trade school. We are possibly on a similar path with my son, who will graduate high school in 2 years. We've been really debating what is best for my son, and not trying to fall into the "trap" of society's college expectations. We hope to be heading in a direction that will keep our son's interest, while providing a fulfilling career and independence, and happy life. Best wishes to all of you.

I remember the daunting task of trying to decide what I wanted to do after high school and the pressure from the school advisors to attend a University. I did end up going to a four year college and am in my last year of nursing school and I couldn't be more happy with my decision. However, I think college is not for everyone, the choice on what college to go to or what trade school to go or future plans are as unique as the person is. Congratulations to Blake on graduating! And I agree with many others that Andrew is a great vlogger!

My advise to anyone thinking about taking a year off is not to do it. I started out with a year off that has now turned into 5 years more then that. I am finally starting college classes in the fall but I do feel regret about not going to college after graduating high school. I think maybe taking the fall semester off after graduating high school is good but trust me when I say the years go by fast. I will say if you take time off that's fine but don't forgot your goals in life or your plan like I did.

That sucks when my mom was 18 and wanted to go to collage they denied her to go because she was pregnant and so they gave her the choice because my dad was always working to go to collage and find someone to take care of it or try again next year so she tried again next year and that one year turned into 10 years of her not getting into collage `

I definitely think if you feel it’s necessary to take a year off then go for it. But I think it’s easier just to go right after you graduate high school

Congrats Blake. I think he may change his mind next year when Lillie goes to college. He seems like a shy guy and she really balances him out. Although he seems shy, he seems like he would do great in college and really blossom in the experience. College is such a catch 22 because it isn't for everyone, it is expensive but the experiences you gain while in college really molds so many-especially if you live in the dorms. I remember when people used to tell me that college was the best and you really grow as a person and during the experience I had a lot of ups and downs but looking back I now know they were right. It really is an awesome experience and you do learn so much about yourself when you are in that environment away from home and in the unique world of being around so many people your own age group doing the same thing as you are with, mostly, the same goals. But then again if there is more chance you won't use what you are paying so much for, your degree, then there is that catch of whether you pour money and time into it for the experience and life lessons or start something like trade school where you can jump start your lifelong career and bypass college. Hard decisions.

Where I live (Latin America) not going to college is seen as a REALLY bad thing so I graduated high school last year and started law school this year and after two months I decided to take the rest of this year off. I love law school but i felt so pressured to do it that i felt miserable and I just needed some time off. I need this year to focus on me. I lost myself in high school so I am taking the year off. just so you understand a lil bit more the school year starts in March and ends in November where I live. I think what Blake is gonna do is awesome. All I hope is that he is truly happy. He is a great kid and even tho he never really opened up to us I really enjoyed watching his journey and can’t wait to see where the future takes him! Much love xx

I think it’s a great decision to not go to college! It’s not for everyone and unfortunately so many people get pushed into it and drop out with a lot of debt.

I am so proud of blake!😊my uncle's owned an electrical contracting business with their dad for many years! It got it's name shields electric from the shields Michigan area. I myself went to art trade school. Andrew cracks me up! 🤣😎😎

I’m so happy for Blake i remember i watched ya when i was 12. So he was in 8th grade when i started watching y’all but Ik Im not like a parent but watching kids grow up even myself growing up and imma be a senior next year it just makes me tear up because i wanna live my dream but i need more time to plan and save up but i don’t want to waste time and i wanna spending time with my friends. It’s just crazy i can’t wait until Karli graduates high school imma really be in tears and by then and imma be 20 omggg wow watching how time goes by is crazy 😢

It's great to see that Blake isn't "following the crowd" and choosing to go to college if he knows it's not for him! I'm currently a junior in high school (going to be a senior) and thinking about college is very stressful... :( I plan on going to college, majoring in nursing and then specializing in obstetrics!

My graduation was on Wednesday may 23 we had to be there at 12:30 because it stated at 2 and ended at 4. there was 700+ in my graduation class. Good job Blake great accomplish

Hey blake! I graduated from high school last year and I also did trade school instead of college! It was the best decision ever! I am going for cosmetology and I graduate already next Saturday. It was a 9month program! And then I'll be off working!

I can’t believe I graduated almost a year ago (June 10th) time flies so fast! I remember I tripped during my graduation practice and I was so scared I was going to trip again in front of 1,000 people. So nerve wracking! And that’s cool that they let them keep the balls. We threw ours up and 3 seconds later they took them away lol

I graduated this year too! I agree that college isn’t for everyone (even though im going) I have friends who would be better off somewhere else because they have no desire to go to college and that’s not a bad thing. It all just depends on your career goal. Like I want to be a Veterinarian so college is kind of the only way for me to go in order to succeed.

Trade school is a superb choice! He can take that all the way to electrical engineering. I strongly recommend the union though. My ex was an electrician and they do experience lay offs during the winter season, but once he joined the union they would find him jobs while he was off the payroll. That’s in Chicago though not sure if it’s the same in Michigan! Best of luck Blake!
