I'm back in Europe doing some testing, so I figured I'd share a look at one trail I've been training on in Dorenaz. Had quite the scare involving some hikers! With hiking and bike trails in such close proximity, it's a good reminder of the importance of good trail markings for all. Thankful for their quick reactions and sorry for the close call. 😅

@@HeretiCflow It really depends on the location. Sometimes for bikers it's even "forbitten" to leave the gravel paths and they hate bikes, and sometimes you have practically only bikers on the trails.

I don‘t know much about this trail but it looks very natural in many sections. Also how the fuck are some elderly hikers supposed to know that some clay turns (if you even notice something like that when you are not into the sport) mean “danger riders come down the trail with 40km/h”. If there are enough signs for a trail they should have stay away, but this looks more like a popular locals trail. So tourists have a very low chance to know about this.

with a little bit of wind, the speed of Finn and the steep trail it is easy to not have any clue till the guy is there. Something similar happened to me a few years ago,2 kids were playing very close to and abandoned helipad the trail crossed. When I was jumping off the helipad to the trail the kids were there and made the same move those hikers did to avoid me landing on top of them. So it could dangerous going flat out in some trails.

As someone who's been in this situation its a much better idea to stop, apoligise formally, and see if they're alright. Because its basically a hit and run if you just leave the scene like this (though its not because you didn't hit them) But that lady may have fallen after having to jump out the way. Always better to stop. I'm guilty of doing this and it wasn't a happy ending. Great video and love this trail!

I think he handled it well. Doesn't seem like he was in the wrong in the first place and he remained calm without cursing at the hikers which would be a mistake. That's a good professional mindset. In his place would you stop and try to explain to those people, who may or may not speak English, that they were not supposed to hiking there? Maybe this trail is not a dedicated downhill trail and that makes it a different story but to me it would be obvious with all the berms and jumps that this path is not made for hikers.

This does look like a shared hiker/biker trail. Although it is fascinating how you drove it you should pay attention to the fact that hikers (and cars) may get into your flying route. The way you did is surely high skilled and awesome to watch, but it may be also the way for the cable car giving the opportunity of refusing to transport bikes uphill or even worse the closing of the single track for bikers. There are many examples of that here in Germany.
