Alright Randi, #highsteaksreview time @thepalmtribeca (Tribeca, NY) with special guest @jaggerwalk ….. sponsored by @runawaynewyork
Two steaks, everyone knows the rules. I will admit, lack luster performance… hand up, that’s on me. I’ll acknowledge my shortcomings and be better next time.
I got the porterhouse rare, as per usual and Jagger opted for the 14 oz strip steak. I also got the lobster truffle butter. If you know what I do, you know that if a steakhouse has truffle butter I’ll stop at nothing to get it. “Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night” will keep me from getting truffle butter.
May have over-scored the truffle butter. 18.8 was high. I was not on my game.
As for the porterhouse, it was decent. Quality of the steak itself was great as expected. Preparation was sub par.
The steak was dry aged for roughly 30 days and had decent flavor to it. You could relatively tell it was dry aged, but it was not extremely apparent.
They cook on the porterhouse was where they really fell short. I ordered it rare, but it was definitely under done. It also didn’t have a pronounced crust. Unfortunate.
Also, they seemed to season the steak with only pepper, and no salt. I’ll leave it at that.
Jagger’s 14 oz strip steak seemed like a better choice. It was well marbled and cooked well. He thoroughly enjoyed it.
Guest reviewer should have been first, but I was off my game so. Jagger went 7.2 on the NY strip which is a very good (and in my opinion) very fair score.
I went 6.8 on the porterhouse which was generous to say the least. First score sticks. I was off my game. It happens.
So 7.2 (fair) on the NY strip from Jagger, 6.8 (generous) on the porterhouse from me… The Palm, Tribeca, that’s your review.
