High Voltage Rat Trap Test (with a hot dog)

Using a microwave oven transformer and a 300 watt incandescent light bulb as a quick and dirty, massively inefficient, heat generating ballast, I created this 2500 volt rat trap.
There’s about 120ma on the high voltage side (if my math is right).
I enclosed the high voltage grid in a fireproof box made of cement fiber board.
This was completely done out of experimentation thanks to my microwave oven reaching the end of its life. I do not have any intent on keeping this in service. It is somewhat…. No let me correct this: it’s very dangerous.

Lol 300 watts at 2000 volts aught to do it 🤣. I just built a MOT HV supply as well and used four (a 100w, 75w, 50w and 25w) individually switched halogen bulbs to get me anywhere between 25 and 250 watts of ballast, I love the light bulb ballast method. It let's you know when it's on (or in your case working🤣) and if the bulb/bulbs goes out it shuts the whole thing off so there's no danger of getting accidentally zapped. Have you had any real life success?

I ended up tossing the prototype. It was just too dangerous. :)
