Lots of good info here Jeff. I do not plan to go into CQB situation, but I train for home protection and house clearing. Thanks for the video. You should do a video on this subject. Home Protection and House Clearing using an AR15, and my favorite, the Zpap M70!

From a combatives perspective, the "crash" scenario and going-hands-on leads to the opposite conclusion. If the adversary is controlling my muzzle and preventing it from coming UP, I can bend my knees and just launch him to create enough space to get on target. If the adversary is controlling my muzzle and preventing it from coming DOWN, I can struggle to maybe do those muzzle strikes... but I'm just raising my center of gravity and forcing myself off balance. This is related to the tall stance, heels close, giraffe neck body position that is becoming too common today.

Hey Modern Tactical, Thank you for these videos. It’s super interesting to hear all the history and development in gear. There is one piece of gear that is intriguing. The pipe looking grip on the bottom of the hand rail. In almost all the photos you show from the early 2000s, the M4s have them. Could you explain what they were used for? Do you know why they aren’t seen as much anymore?

Good video man. I have some weird hangups from shooting so much PCC in USPSA that my carbine handling skills look awkward AF because I am instinctively trying to prevent breaking the 180. Should give High Ready more of a chance.

Thank you for another great video. I like how you wear your sling, most everyone runs the back end over the shoulder, and the front under arm, and this method works but the rifle tends to "nosedive". I also run the back end of sling under my arm, and the front end over my shoulder, I call it "guitar carry". Rifle tends to remain more horizontal, which i believe is more comfortable especially on recon patrol. It does help if sling is attached to lowest part on stock.

Good stuff. Guys who care about this stuff should know that low ready is not low "compressed" or low retracted... whatever your terminology. But high ready is basically identical to high compressed. We find that in a stack or close proximity to teammates, go barrel UP. When you're the #1 man and have space, low is the way to go. A low compressed posture is usually awful, but for some reason LEOs are obsessed with this... probably because they prefer a low ready to high, but can't maintain it without flagging others, so they depress from low ready to low compressed. Instead, try low ready to high compressed when necessary.

Jeff, I know it is a photo and may be deceiving but it appears that in the room entry photos it appears you are neither on-line with the 1 and 2 men nor are you on-line with them (shooting past them from behind). If they were to run into a threat that pushes them back into your shooting lane isn't there a risk of a friendly fire incident?
@ModernTacticalShooting
@ModernTacticalShooting 2 жыл бұрын
No there is no requirement to be perfectly inline. If you have clear line of sight on threat..shoot.

@@gunnierunner1 that's just port arms... Jeff is actually going from port arms to low ready every time... that's why he is bringing the sight UP to his eye - aiming from a genuine high ready would mean bringing the sight DOWN to the eyeline. I hate when people muddle a clear definition and then start pretending to investigate some great mystery ☝️
@gunnierunner1
@gunnierunner1 2 жыл бұрын
@@kxkxkxkx Your initial comment was an opinion. What he is showing in the video is fairly standard in civilian, LE and Mil rifle training. Is there any specific courses or modern training you have received that provided different information? Also port arms is a drill command. He does not demonstrate port arms in this video.
@kxkxkxkx
@kxkxkxkx 2 жыл бұрын
@@gunnierunner1 the proper sequence is "ready aim fire" If you have to add "bring up your gun and shoulder the stock" as a vital step in there then you obviously ain't ready... It's science! Otherwise the term "ready" is meaningless and a guy sitting on the toilet with his pants down and rifle slung could call that his "ready position" LOL some internet operators probably do
