just today i finally fixed my e46 from rough idle over a week ago, i kept getting cylinder misfires on 1 to 5. it ended up being a failed disa valve, got it all cleared up 🔥

Do not pull out the injector and swap it BMW injectors once you pull them out of their factory packaging within minutes the metal swells ,I assume so it fits tightly. You’re just gonna have to get all new injectors or maybe replace just that one ,Most likely doing all the injectors would be the smart move.

Sounds like you are down a cylinder at idle. My guess is also bad injector. The super strong smell of fuel is a pretty good indication.

Hey man this is a common problem for these cars, I own the same car a 435i. As long as you didn’t run it too long with the faulty injector(s) you’ll be solid cause it can hurt the motor.

My very first car was a BMW E46, I fell in love with the brand. From the ages of 16 all the way to 30 I have owned 5 BMW’s, never buying outside the brand. My fiancé bought a brand new Mazda CX-5 in 2014 and she has 110K miles and the car has not had a single issue outside of routine maintenance. It made me realize as much as I love BMW, they are very unreliable vehicles. I still have my E92 M3, but it’s in storage. I bought a 2016 Mazda CX-5 like my fiancé and while I know it’s no BMW, it feels good to know she won’t ever leave me stranded like my BMW’s use to.

Man changing injectors is a piece of cake unless one of them suffers from black death. Injector removal tool they probably even have in Autozone. For coding stuff it's really time for you to finally stop fulling around with Carly and get a proper tool. There is plenty of places where you can get ISTA for free. Once you have it, it's really trivial, go to service functions, power train, DME, adjustment functions, injection quantity compensation and enter values written on your new injectors. Paying someone $100+ for this is just dumb.

Pera Kojot ProTool has made this way easier now. You can do all the stuff from a tablet now. It’s $100 but it’s not vin locked and can be used along multiple chassis bmws

@@piovo5222 Nope. It's more common with diesels for sure, but it can happen anywhere with carbon buildup and a leaking injector.

Pera Kojot N54/N55 injectors are known to take a crap. Bad design they are already on index 12s already(revision) lol. If I was him I’d run my vin to make sure he isn’t on a recall. Many bmws had extended warranty recall on those injectors

@@JSpool1 Yeah N54/N55 injectors are notoriously bad. Not sure if there's a recall (he should definitively check for his VIN). Otherwise pity his millage is so high, as he's in CA he could have asked for a free of charge replacement under CA emissions warranty that is 7 years / 70,000 miles from first date of service.

That spark plug being black is because of unburnt fuel. Definitely weird also seeing misfires on 5 & 6 after clearing. Hopefully its just injector issues. Relative compression cranking it over sounded good. I didnt hear a skip! You technically dont need the tool to remove those injectors. With some careful prying they will pop free. The "exhaust harmful" is just an added note as a misfire dumping raw fuel into the exhaust can harm the catalytic converter. Love the pay to play line. I use that with all my customers and people who want to drive euros or higher end vehicles. Great cars when they working, but don't forget the additional cost to repairs!

This happened on the same cylinder in my N54. Most likely your injector 5. Replaced them with some ebay injectors and all good!

@@NourHummadi I just let the car run for a bit until it burnt off all the fuel it had dumped into the cylinder. No need to change the oil though.

Nour Hummadi I would change oil, the fuel must have been running down past the piston rings when the car is off. The oil will be diluted and less viscous than it should be.

You don’t need the injector tool to remove it btw. Just get an indexable pry bar and leverage that injector our. Replace that spark plug due to fouling. It’s not programming you need it’s just an abl that they have to do to tell the vehicle what injector was installed to what cylinder. Just trying to save you some money.

Make sure if you ever pull a injector you change the seal otherwise youll run into leaky injectors in the future. Same goes for used/ refurb injectors. Precision raceworks makes a nice tool for injector/seal removal and install

Fuel injectors are unique, they all have different flow rates.. so coding through INPA is necessary. I have basically the same symptoms rn so gonna wait for this diagnosis

It sucks that the 435i has all of those problems, but at least it is not anything too major. I mean it creates more content and I kind of want to see how to replace the fuel injectors on it. But overall I can’t wait to see what’s next for the both the 435i and 128i!

You need the coding so the DME knows what each injector flow rating is since each one has different flow performance. This is to ensure that you have enough fuel in the chamber especially when your turbos are spooling up and in WOT situations. You don't want your afr's to be all messed up. Also, I’d suggest buying BimmerGeeks protool and getting away from Carly. It’s 100X more In depth and you can literally code the injectors with ease.

Hey bro injectors have specific numbers on them that you have to input into the ecu so you will also have to code them if you buy them used. There are scan tools under 300 bucks that can code injectors, or you can look up a guide on how to set up impa on windows and that will allow you to code injectors as well.

you still need to program the injectors if you buy all 6 of them. Get protools on android and a usb data cable to code them ~100$

Hey bro. Just buy the ProTool app from Bimmergeeks. I believe it’s works with F series. Just make sure. That app can code everything just like insta/inpa. That’s what I use for my e9x cars

Please save yourself the trouble and take pictures of the new injector part numbers before placing them in the engine. When you program the new ones you need to have the numbers on hand or else you’ll need to pull the injectors again just to get the numbers off them

Bro I had to change my injectors in my N54 & I have the mini slide hammer & this schaben scan tool specifically for Bimmer’s that lets you code the injectors! I replaced them myself and also coded them by myself! I’m not sure if this tools work for the N55 but if you want to try I can definitely let you borrow my code reader and the small slide hammer! just let me know I’m located in San Jose about an hour and a half or 2 from you!

i have similar problem to my e46 325i bought new ignition coils and the same, change their places, and still missfire in cilinder 1 no one cant help me at the moment. When i start the car, it runs and ~900rpm, then drops to 600rpm, but the car shakes like crazy. All the pipes are checked there is no air flow leak. I dont know what to do :/
