I had those on a HL running 34.5 HL2. Was a great setup for for the bike. was using it in combination with HL 3-5 bracket lift, kept all the suspension geometry correct the bike would articulate great and suspension would actually work. problems came when the SATV output shaft snapped off and flipped me upside down. Ended up in the hospital with broken ribs and a shattered collar bone. If you are running SATV portals, take the time to pull wheel and brake assembly after each ride and CAREFULLY inspect shafts for fretting/cracks. Just really glad I didn't have a passenger that day!

Robert Wingate dont think those portals are made to run on high gear..heard it over heats a d burns the portals up. or maybe its just how you take car of them..this is good advice tho

king Romeo it's not the speed of the bike that causes the failure. after my failure and wreck, I had about 7 weeks of recovery time sitting around letting everything mend and heal, took the time to study the failure and found the other 3 wheels loose on the portal output shafts. I did the install myself and know without doubt it was installed correctly and everything torqued properly. studying why they were loose I came to two conclusions. I HIGHLY suspect the quality of the SATV supplied washer that is installed under the castle nut outside of the brake rotors hub. It's not hardened, and bends under the stresses of driving, which will cause the hub assembly to work loose. once allowed to move on the shaft it was only a matter of time before it broke the shaft. my other concern although not as likely is the SATV supplied tapered spacer behind the hub assembly. when I pulled the remaining 3 sides of the bike apart those spacers were micro welded to the shafts. I still have those 3 portals and the spacers will not move.

dude this is alot to write down.I do appreciate the info tho. because i am looking into getting them for the ranger or my 850 sportsman.but this on your behalf of your wreck should be a video of what to look for...all those bolts should be grade 8 with some kinde of lock nut or lock washer...wonder if you could put thread locker on it even...but i look into everything b4 i buy.esp if i know what im going to use it for.

Let's see how long those portals last in some real mud. I've yet to see anyone keep a portal longer than 6 months. Everyone I know goes back to regular hardware lift.
@NorthernRiderOffroad8 жыл бұрын
Funny, Ive had mine for 5 months and have done nothing but punish them in every situation possible. In the worst mud possible. These portals are beast.
@dickblack77788 жыл бұрын
Even Ostacruiser destroyed one of his. He has a recent video of a rzr being dragged off b/c of portal problems also. I'm just not confident in them personally. I'm glad it's working out for you, but I don't know if you're an anomaly or the norm yet.

+Dick Black Dave is running the POS Rock Crusher portals and so does Mess. Those are complete garbage. The Super Atv portals seen in this video and all of mine are mint. Cant be broken. Ive tried!
@dickblack77788 жыл бұрын
Those are the ones that I've personally seen destroyed, the Rock Crusher ones. I'll check back with you in the spring and see how it's going. I love the idea of the portals so maybe the SuperATV ones are a better design/quality.
@NorthernRiderOffroad8 жыл бұрын
+Dick Black yea, Rock Crusher is garbage and speed limited. You can only do 30mph. My super atv portals have been tested in peanut butter mud, water, high speed and everything else. Really an awesome product.

How much width do those portals add? I've read they add 4" per side. Thought about stacking them on top of a 3-5 highlifter lift. I'm just scared it's gonna be too wide to fit in the wooded trails.
@NorthernRiderOffroad8 жыл бұрын
They do add width. This is by far the best lift out there. Rock crawling and mudding is ideal for this set up.
@chriscrowder85057 жыл бұрын
They don't add width if you buy the right offset of wheel, you can keep a 50 inch at 50 inches with the right wheels.
@PlayafromtheHimalayas7 жыл бұрын
There is a limit on offset according to Superatv for wheels, so you can't get something offset so much that it negates the 4" width increase.

what size superiors are those? (34s or 35s). Is he running a bracket lift as well? I have a 15 HLE with a 5" bracket and super atv portals, looking to come off my 32.5 outlaws and go bigger. I have been looking at 37" bkt's and superiors, and I know I'll probably need forward a-arms to keep from rubbing (or maybe not, super atv says 36's fit with no rubbing, so maybe my heat gun will do the trick). I'm just trying to decide if I may be happier with a smaller tire. I too ride gumbo and swampy areas.
@NorthernRiderOffroad8 жыл бұрын
Its hard to say. I used to run a 34" term and loved them. My new portal set up only allows my 29.5" terms. Im very happy with the set up but id like to go 28" next time to save 10lbs per tire.
@filthyredneck20838 жыл бұрын
+Northern Rider The weight isn't my concern, you and I ride a little differently. My current tires already weigh 56 lbs unmounted. I looked at some 9.5-18 bkt's (35's) today and honestly they looked too small. That's why I was questioning what the guy in that highlifter was running...the size and is he just portals or does he have a bracket lift too?

I hear these lifts are made of shit metal
@NorthernRiderOffroad5 жыл бұрын
Well whatever shit metal is it's really durable. I pushed every lift I had from super ATV hard. You can see in my videos. I ran the 10", 3", 2" and even their portal lift. They were all awesome.
