I'm also very passionate about Martial arts, ever since i was a kid, but sadly i was unable to train because of voices from the Christian community that we as Christians should not engage in Martial Arts, I'm very thankful for this explanation, I'm 27 now and planning to start training, i don't know how i will react when i achieve my first Black belt i might burst into tears that's how much i love it, may God give me success in Jesus holy name Amen.

That scripture is great, it seems to emphasize that spiritual training should be prioritized being the more important aspect I am currently going through some rough times, and I see myself as a type of Christian soldier or warrior and I believe in training my body in service of my wits, training my wits in service of my spirit and training my spirit in service of my LORD, and I workout hard and work long hours driving for Amazon(which I like) and my training has helped discipline myself so that I can also pray and study scripture more which I love

I studied Bujinkan pretty heavily as well as Chi Gong, all of this Japanese Ki school of thought, English wizardry, scrying, wand making, et cetera. I was naturally adapted for ninjutsu, jujitsu, Judo, it just fit me like a glove. I was really really good at grappling, and I could take down people well above my level with a little bit of slight of hand, and a knowledge of anatomy and physiology. I got into remote viewing, telekinesis, pyrokinesis, and telepathy. This stuff has scarred me for life. Once Jesus found me at the age of 26, it was amazing looking back at just how far down the rabbit hole I really was. This stuff is real, and it's really terrifying when you get into it. Deception and magick are synonymous. Run to Jesus as fast as you can. Jesus is INFINITELY more powerful than the devil will ever be. The devil just tells you "A little bit closer, a little bit closer, a little bit closer," and the next thing you know, you're screwed.

It is important to yield great power with respect. Do not lash out in anger, but lash out in love. To fight the opponent with protection for others in mind, and also the opponents well being. You do not fight an opponent because you want to.. you fight only if you have to.

As a Christian and as a practitioner of multiple martial arts I can agree with everything that you have said here. There was a time in my life that I too got into a meditative aspects of ninjitsu, or even some of the things that have been intertwined into the teaching at specific schools that I was attending. It wasn’t until I had a coming home with Christ that I would make sure that the schools that I was attending had a Christian philosophy.

I believe you can separate the occultism from martial arts. I've learned some tai chi without any taoist influence. I just looked for teachers who never mentioned "chi" as a magical energy or whatever. I personally believe a more scientific explanation of chi that it's just the electric impulses from your brain to your extremities and the blood flow. Like adrenaline. I don't believe in casting chi or auras or whatever I just focus on the physics of the art. And mostly I learn it as a base so I can learn the sword styles. The teachers I go to don't ever mention chi. It's arguable that their not "real tai chi masters" for excluding the taoist aspects but again I only focus on the movements mostly for a base to learn the sword forms and its great cardio. I learn muay thai and jiu-jitsu also but I also throw in a little tai chi wing chun and pak mei and even some kyokushin karate and shotokan. Whenever I meditate I meditate on scripture. I literally sit in silence and listen to my audio bible and sip hot tea. I separate the spiritual occultism from any system that has historically included them. I don't even think about them. It's fun to watch in movies but I personally believe it's all fake.

@@JJ-pl5cj Oh yes, it’s for real! Every single yoga pose is an act of worship to a Hindu god… It’s a case of the East has seduced the West, and wow has it been seduced!! I’ve watched many testimonies of those who got into yoga, and the end result wasn’t good. Fortunately the ones I read about or saw, were rescued by Christ. Some go insane, especially if they move onto transcendental meditation. I read a book years ago called ‘The death of a Guru’ and it was an eye opener! If you have any interest in finding out about what happens within Hinduism spiritually, this is an amazing book to read! God bless

Hey Jeff! I was practicing Wing Chun back 2003/04 and my Sifu incorporated Qi Gong meditation. In 2004 I was in a near fatal car accident where a lady found me and pleaded God's mercy over me. Which was my Saul to Paul conversation moment that brought me back to Christ. I don't practice Qi Gong and haven't since 2004. Altho, I do still have the EXPLOSIVE energy that comes from my bodily energy which I attribute to God being the source. Do you see anything wrong with that?

You can literally just do the movements for different purposes. All things have been changed. Christmas was inspired by a pagan holiday. So as I got older I wanted to get my son involved in body mechanics, I chose capoeira for overall body awareness and most fun. Enrolled a year for the discount, shortly after I learned capoeira is highly meshed with voodoo and the occult, praying to false gods. A lot of pagan elements. Gospel message was is very offensive to many. So much of it is ancestry worship. Had a guilty conscience about it all, to compensate for the guilt I talked about Christ. Its definitely very tricky in my opinion but yes! If someone is literally threatening the lives that were made in God's image you literally have a God given right to defend that life 🙏. If you make a mistake you talk to God about it later 💯. In my opinion if you know they are just trying to intimate you and are not really gonna do anything I think God will give you the discernment to figure out if this person is a real threat that you have to take care of or if its someone that just wants to scare you with their intent.

Much of Tai Chi Chuan is misunderstood because as you pointed out, combat applications versus a form of "power building". Often, chinese jacket wrestling, Shuai Jiao will have a Tai Chi Chuan part of the curriculum because Tai Chi, as an American prison boxer put it, is what we think of as a wrestling style, not boxing style. I absolutely know, much of that milieu is about building "power", and such an art should be observed by Christians in cirumspection because there are Chinese, Christian converts, of multiple generations that train the style. I love MMA and martial arts as a whole but I do agree there are aspects that should not be practiced or glorified. I am very careful with what I allow my children to watch (or myself for that matter) however I do let them watch UFC and BJJ competitions. My thought is it's controlled and after the matches you see the respect aspect. I do acknowledge it's violent but I do not want my kids to be ignorant to the world and I am more afraid of raising weak children than exposing them to MMA. Some Christians disagree with me. Your thoughts on letting them watch MMA?
@caseyfenton90
@caseyfenton90 2 жыл бұрын
I allow my kids to watch as well. I'm a huge fan of UFC and Bellator. I think it's important to consider that this is a voluntary engagement between consenting adults. I feel as though combat sports being as popular as they were in ancient Greece, likely would have been condemned by Paul, if they were indeed sinful to partake in. However, that is speculation on my part.

@@caseyfenton90 I’ve read a good deal about Ancient Greco-Roman fighting. Those were often under political and slave like conditions to quench societies thirst for violence and entertainment, especially when it was Christians vs animals. I would concede that MMA in our culture could be a Segway to more violence and/or conditioning. Again my justification is I’m more concerned with the feminization of men and the assaults on my daughters that I see it as a counter balance and hope it will encourage them to do BJJ and such as a safety precaution. I know that in doing so it brings the respect, restraint, confidence, etc to their life but I’m willing to be convinced either way. In any event I appreciate your response. Good to know there are other like minded Christians.

Would Jesus have gone to the collusem and enjoyed watching the sport of fighting? Of murder? Of senseless beating of one another? It's beating and bruising the temple of God isn't it? Personally speaking it encourages violence and carnality. I don't think it could be justified any other way than appeasing to the flesh. The Spirit is loving one another, never laying a hand on another, and yes, though it's voluntary, it is worldly entertainment that also promotes anger, gambling, drinking, vanity and seeking pleasure from the world and not Word as two men try to kill one another. Psalm 119 37Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things, And revive me in Your way. Isaiah 33 15He who walks righteously and speaks uprightly, He who despises the gain of oppressions, Who gestures with his hands, refusing bribes, Who stops his ears from hearing of bloodshed, And shuts his eyes from seeing evil: 16He will dwell on high; His place of defense will be the fortress of rocks; Bread will be given him, His water will be sure. Christians are supposed to turn away from the world, to stand out from the world, not conform to its patterns of pride and violence. Would Christ sit with you and cheer on with you as you watch men beat themselves? I get sucked in and watch it at times but I know it's my flesh that enjoys it and the Spirit it grieves. You can teach your boys to defend themselves, to be strong. But as a Christian I would never encourage that through UFC or MMA. Train them yourself. There is better ways to teach them of the reality of the world. Perhaps a false equivalency but to teach them about sex/the reality of the world would you want them watching porn?

@@DylanIsArchAngel I think you’ve raised a lot of good points but my biggest objection would be you’ve mischaracterized what MMA is. It is not senseless beatings of each other and anyone who has actually trained or even watched the sport long enough knows that. Martial Arts is a vehicle that unlocks great human qualities and potential. Things like discipline, health, humility, perseverance, etc. Not only does it build those positive attributes but it eliminates negative attributes like pride, ego, bullying, etc BJJ in particular is not about hurting your opponent which is why you adhere to a tap system that can be activated well before you’re in any physical danger. Even on the street, BJJ is often used as a non lethal, docile way to subdue an attacker (blood chokes for example). In secular terms, the people I’ve been around that practiced MMA are some of the very best I’ve known. Now none of this is to ever replace the gospel nor does a “moral secularist” have any leg up on a “immoral secularist” in the eyes of God but you get the idea. I do like the litmus test of if Jesus was here would he …. But that’s a hard one. I mean one could make an argument he wouldn’t engage and comment on social media but I get your point and probably agree he wouldn’t sit and cheer UFC. BJJ and wrestling? Who knows. Lastly, and this is my worldview coming in and perhaps not a great response, but I think back to all the warriors in scripture. Yes they were led by Gods hand but surely they put themselves in that position to be used. It’s likely, Samson for example, trained in combat. Now where are those strong men now? I look around and see weak men afraid to share anything but a watered down version of the gospel. I want to raise up men and woman, first and foremost spiritually strong, but also physically and mentally tough as well. To me MMA is that vehicle. I’m open to ideas but in the age of everyone gets a trophy and a safe space…. MMA, BJJ, wrestling seems to be my best solution for a well rounded, face adversity head on, fear not, attitude to raise my kids with. Gospel first always, face controversy head on second. That’s my home.

@@sharplikecheddar2 @sharplikecheddar2 thanks for the response! My main contention is with the organization of UFC itself where that itself promotes money, gambling etc. MMA as a practice is much like what you said; a great tool to build discipline, humility, strength and character. So I wouldn't have an issue with anyone learning it because as you say again, so many who do are good examples of well trained men in physicality and spiritual discipline. It's again a great way for men to control that rage and be better equipped to handle situations of self defence and non-lethal like you said. I agree again that we look around and see weak men; both in heart and flesh and MMA is a vechile to grow in for that. So glad to hear your views on the watered down gospel so many have succumbed to because of the fragile mentality this society has seemingly crafted and encouraged. I especially appreciate your final paragraph there and it's a joy to hear from a parent in Christ with such strong values; praise God and may He bless you and your family through Christ to abound in all spiritual blessings ❤ I hope this helps my personal opinion be understood clearer; the practice of MMA is different to watching the UFC and other organisations which through advertisement, social media and the characters they hire/emphasize promote the antichrist qualities mentioned earlier. It is good to be equipped to handle adversity in this life, to be strong and disciplined, I personally wouldn't watch or subscribe to UFC though for entertainment due to its culture.

Filipino Martial Arts are great also. Many Filipinos martial artists are Christians. Filipino Martial arts focus on weapons first also, which is great for most types of people, especially children and women since weapons do not require as much strength. FMA also does have empty hand fighting, wrestling, grappling, and many take downs and joint locks that are useful for military and law enforcement.

As a fellow believer in Jesus, I would like to encourage you in love to cover up your arm tattoos. I understand that they are permanent and you probably got them in your lost life, but those in the ministry are held to a much higher standard and will receive the greater condemnation (James 3:1). Tattoos are clearly spoken against in Leviticus 19:28. I say this not to condemn you, but to encourage you to meet that standard of holiness that is expected of ministers of the word of God. One of the false things I was taught as a child is that Christians are basically ordered to live beneath and as a lower caste than the world. That is dead wrong. If Christians are called to follow the laws and statutes of their nations then as Americans (not roman slaves) you are called to defend this land with the most extreme force if necessary. But growing up Christians to me were like Dante Hicks in clerks, Ever backing down. Shame and disgrace.

What do you all think about MMA as entertainment? I.E. UFC. I love watching UFC and boxing. Wife hates it and says that she cannot see how the violence and ruthlessness can be justified. I usually tell her it is a sport, combat sports, but she thinks it is wrong to be entertained by the violence. What would you say to that?
@DylanIsArchAngel
@DylanIsArchAngel 2 жыл бұрын
I personally think she's right. The Spirit is loving one another, never laying a hand on another, and yes, though it's voluntary, it is worldly entertainment that also promotes anger, gambling, drinking and seeking pleasure from the world and not word as two men try to kill one another.
