You know a story is fire when it's called "Vegas Kid" and the word *Vegas* isn't even uttered until 9 minutes into the 16 minute story.

It would be great if that kid grew up to be be some diabolical Protoss mastermind with a bunch of dummy accounts. Every time Artosis freaks out about Protoss, imba, and goes off on a rage induced rant… it’s always Vegas Kid he was playing.

Microsoft's Zone was the scene back in the day. The "official" ladder was like 5 separate independently run websites tracking 1v1 vods submitted to GameNoob. The Zone lobbys were password protected, and the only way you could get invited into a lobby was by trying out with any of the handful of professional clans, and actually getting your vods reviewed by pros. Otherwise, you'd just wander around the unlocked lobbys and play cbt or 4v4 black forest random, (of which everyone would end up losing to the one guy who rolled britons lmao). Good times.

The qualifier got announced a day or two before it happened so since I lived in the area I was one of the only two people who showed up for bw (other guy was warming up on fastest and ended up taking the travel voucher money instead of attending). Ended up playing vs sadist (not Artosis) in the first round and then rekrul in losers bracket. I'd never played on LAN latency so I miscontrolled a lot in the beginning and ended up throwing my prep out after that and tried some weird proxy build that slog4 was warming up with before the tournament on korhal. I felt bad at the time because I thought I could have played a lot better but it's always fun reminisicing with my brother (who took me to long beach for the event) about the time that I was "one of the best starcraft players"

First time ever playing paintball... probably Vegas kid's age. Get dropped off at this place with my brother and a friend. Jeans, t-shirts, that sort of thing. Rent crappy guns that barely function... All of us placed on a team against grown men wearing full camo, ghillie suits, etc. with 1000+ dollar paintball guns using compressed air, etc. It was a lot of fun.
@CarpeDeezNuts2062 жыл бұрын
I have a similar story. I was dropped of at a paintball place with a few of my friends. They placed 20+ junior high kids against 2 paintball professionals on a small arena style course with the inflatable beer cans/Doritos/snakes. Not a single kid made it past 1/3 of the field. Took maybe 4 minutes total.
