Key takeways from the game for me - a near loss at this stage of preparing for the RWC is much more valuable to the ABs progression than a blowout - if the Wallabies play with the level of cohesion and agression like they showd in the first half they will surprise a few teams in their side of the draw. - the level of relief from fans when Smith and then Mounga make the field says a lot about how valuable they are. Conversely not convinced about Smiths backup - Is Savea the most consistent player in world rugby - Dmac has had better days but his versatility will mean he gets to go -Unlike the Springboks ,the ABs now would be are pretty sure about their best 23. -
@Cabolt44
@Cabolt44 Жыл бұрын
+ Smith isn't even our best number 9, that's actually TJ Perenara - but he's been hosed out by the NZRU for his very public stances on the LGBTQI+ community and Ihumātao. So instead we get the actual backup as our main (Aaron Smith), and the back ups, back up as back up (Christie). + The ref was actually abysmal, and helped a lot of the advantage for the Wallabies in that first half (typical French ref). Line out throws, scrums and breakdown plays - majority of which went to Australia in that first half. + Savea is basically the same consistency machine as what Richie McCaw was for the ABs. + DMac could only play what was in front of him - not helped by the poor go ahead by the forwards (like Taukei'aho and Laulala) + The "best 23" will actually have to change each game, since (being a World Cup), we don't know how conditions will change. + Red Card ruling will mess up a lot of teams. Reffing of today's calibre is going to be the norm - so navigating that (for all teams) will be key to RWC 2023.

As an All Blacks supporter, i feel like the wallabies need to work on the full 80mins, they came out strong in the first half, but like last week they failed to keep the momentum for the full 80. All Blacks are used to pressure and they play the clock to the last second, if the Wallabies could master the same, i think it might have been a very different outcome. All in all well done the All Blacks as usual you pulled it off under pressure, but there was never any doubt you wouldnt 😅 To the Wallabies dont be down you played magnificent this game and should be proud of the teams efforts! Bring on the WRC! ALL BLACKS forever!!

Big respect to the Wallabies for the way they responded to last week's game.The talk and comments about it was the ABs BTeam is so cringe and not needed from us AB fans. Instead of talking about it was our B Team give the credit and applause to the Wallabies and their team spirit.Eddie Jones and this Wallabies team are real WC threats with a good draw at France.Congrats to both teams for a hard fought Bledisloe classic.

Finally the Aussies show up. Why has it taken so long? The Southern Hemisphere teams need you to perform for the good of all, so it's great to see. Now stand up and go again. Some great debut performances for the ABs and a never say die attitude. A good game for them and to build for the French and SA teams. I'm still worried about the depth of the AB squad if Whitelock and Retallick are injured, but starting to see new blood in the squad is great news.

Cut it out mate, he's in there on his Super form with the Chiefs & the way he controlled the game v the Pumas. He earned his spot today but didn't do himself any favors. But mate, he was behind a pack that was getting pumped by the other side, when Foster changed the front row & they started to get some ascendancy at set piece & winning the contact, Mo'unga controlled the territory well, Aaron Smiths speed to the ruck and passing increased the number of phases/pressure & Mo'unga had a much smoother ride. Also, who else would you take this late in the day?

@@navahchapman8793 so the RC is knock out tournament like a rugby WC quarter final game is it? Wow I didn't know that, I always thought that teams played the following week win or lose. Just like the AB and the boks, if you look at the lineups it's easy to see that the wallabies used the shortened RC to try out different squad members, rotated players, tried out different formations and positions. The wallabies team in the world cup year since the giteu rule change is the most disjointed ,and this team with the most amount of non super rugby players in the squad naturallys going to start off with early cohesion and familiarisation issues, yes the wallabies lost to Argentina a few weeks back but I wouldn't look too much into a loss from a team made up of players returning from long injury spells, alongside young inexperienced players who were blooded in early with some experienced players back after several years ineligible, all. Playing in their first games under a new coach and new structure. Will wallabies win the world cup this year. No of course not. I think the all blacks will be 4 time champions this year, I just think its quite idiotic to say that the wallabies have no shot of passing the quarters, that would mean it would be wallabies equal worst world cup performance ever. In the professional era a qf exit has occurred twice in 2007 and 2019, to do it again in 2023 the wallabies would need to be facing againt someone equivalent to those past. Both teams who beat the wallabies went on to play in the final, one the inform team and serious contender for the wc, the other a team built on experience and long success. I can't see a team like that in either England or Argentina 2023. They (like Australia) sit outside the groups of teams like that. So If Australia finish first in their group that means that their opponent being one of those 2 teams already has lost atleast 1 pool match against a side who sits outside the main contenders. This says to me that Australia would be more favourable to win that quarter final than loose. If Australia comes second in the pool then a quarter final exit is more favourable. In the end if Australia or whoever wins the quarter final NONE will go any further than the semi final because that is when the team will face an actual contender (be it France or South Africa or New Zealand)

I’m not surprised at all with the first halves performance by the ABs. All new combinations most of whom have never played along side each other. Good on the Wallaby’s for touching them up. However once the experience came on even the remaining rookies adapted to the Aussies pressure and finished the game well. Great exposure for both teams leading into the WC. Aussie will go okay i think.
@KiwiGraggle

Yeah 11 odd changes kind of does that to a side and as a Kiwi, so not "neutral" like yourself, we kind of know how competitive those Aussies can be and as usual, they prove to be much better than people give them credit for. Australia always give NZ at least 1 hard game a year, this was no surprise. 11 changes and this shows NZs depth is strong. NZ had to dig deep to win the match, and they did that. As a non "Neutral", I know who our no1 side is and they are becoming very strong. Whether they can win the RWC though, we shall see. All I want to see is Ireland downed again by NZ.
