@@aj_shooter4097 I lived in Siberia in the 90s. It was a hungry and dangerous time. Crime and drugs flooded the cities. Delayed wages for six months. I remember the products received on the cards in the queues. For me, Yeltsin is a symbol of the destruction of my country.

@@aj_shooter4097 As for history, I totally agree. But this definition works in both directions, and not only in the direction of Russia. In Russia there are bunch of channels that broadcast how bad Putin is (despite what your media says). And I am far from satisfied with Putin's policy in everything. However, when people say that in Russia all people's brains have been washed by "Putin's propaganda", they forget that there is also propaganda in the West. In Russia, many pass it off as the truth. As for the current situation, not everything is so simple. As in 2008, as in 2014. To find out the truth, it is enough to ask people from South Ossetia, Crimea and Donbas what they think about this. Ask specifically the residents who have experienced all this. Their opinions are never shown on non-Russian media channels.

Além disso, nos deram conquistas científicas e tecnológicas que trouxeram avanços gigantescos para a humanidade. Quantos medicamentos e tratamentos médicos foram criados por lá? Os caras colocaram homens na lua e sondas nos confins do sistema solar. A computação pessoal e a arquitetura da Internet começou por lá, e daí veio Apple, Intel, Microsoft, Google, Facebook, KZfaq, etc. Não fosse os EUA, acho que o mundo seria um lugar bem mais chato e difícil de viver. Свобод кстати было гораздо больше, чем сейчас, даже когда олигархи Гусинский и Березовский захватили НТВ и ОРТ, они всё равно продолжали развивать эти каналы, а те в свою очередь не опускались до речей только об одном лидере или партии, конечно за свободу слова тебя могли и убить, но это не совсем верно, однако таких случаев в России 1990-х было немало: Убийства Холодова, Хлебника, Листьева, хотя стоит заметить,что это делали не спецслужбы, а заказывали убийства чиновники и министры, ну и олигархи конечно. В РФ был полностью оппозиционный парламент, который кстати так и не распустили при Ельцине, Конституционный суд отказал Ельцину в праве избираться на третий срок, СМИ его поливали грязью и одновременно восхваляли, так как кое-какая свобода всё-таки была, история с парламентом, там вообще отдельная история, но не только Ельцин в ней стал виновником, но и Верховный Совет, так как они оба не желали друг с другом договариваться. На митингах, даже несанкционированных, людей не избивали до крови, да и отношения с Западом у нас были очень хорошие. Я знаю про экономические кризисы, гиперинфляцию, войны, которые мы ввели и про "дикий капитализм", благодаря которому у нас появились ОПГ и олигархи, но были и хорошие стороны политики в РФ, а учитывая через что мы прошли, то нас вообще не должно было быть на карте, такие проблемы нашему руководству сейчас и не снились, странно, что страна не развалилась, а в ней не случилось гражданской войны. В культурном плане мы догоняли страны Европы, каждый мог делать, то что мог, вообще стоит откинуть это нытьё о том - "Какой же Ельцин урод, а Россия при нём продалась Западу", ведь это неверно, у нас многое получилось, да хоть мы и испытали на себе тяжести, но это наш драгоценный опыт, мы должны учесть прошлые ошибки и не допускать их повторения, опять же, я не говорю, что Ельцин - Дар божий, но и говорить, что он ничего хорошего не сделал, это тоже неправильно, нужно конструктивно подходить к критике любой личности в истории, опираться на их опыт и делать для себя выводы.

@@kasparsgrinbergs6001 Since you're asking, I'll explain the 'pain and suffering' bit. 1. In the Soviet Union drugs were non-existent. Marijuana was the most vile, and even that appeared in the 70s and 80s mostly. In the 1990s, heroin from Afghanistan, and cheap home-made krokodil-like drugs, glue for smelling, hallucinogens etc. flooded Russia and 100s of 1000s of people, if not millions, succumbed to drug-related deaths. 2. In the USSR it was easy to find a job right after college. Work was simply everywhere. You actually got fined for not working as it was so easy to get a job of any kind. The new capitalist system that fell onto the heads of ordinary Soviet people like an avalanche meant millions lost their jobs or had to adapt. But how do you adapt when you're 55 or 60 (pension age in the USSR), your health is wavering, and the state pension you were meant to get from the USSR has been turned to nothing because of the currency defaulting? How do you survive? 3.No advertisement campaigns or scammers were ever allowed to operate in the USSR. And people simply didn't know what scams were. In the 1990s people like Sergei Mavrodi, a mathematician, made a set of Ponzi schemes and laundered millions away from the unsuspecting and already-impoverished population.

maybe he was to naive and made big mistakes, but what i really like about him is that he shows his feelings and is not serious all the time, like the most politicans in the world. when i look at most politicans i can't see their humuor and their character because they act and look like robots. yeah, he had problems, but he was also a human and he drunk a lot because it was to much for him. their was to much pressure from oligarchs, the west etc.. of course he could have been a funny AND a really good president. but he is a human, like we all. Man, under leaders like this Islamic terrorists invaded Russia (Chechnya in the 90s) and the economy was in shit, people were dying by the millions each year, but all those so-called 'American partners' and 'Western partners' of Russia loved the president.
