We have been very lucky in Boston to have decades of mostly great basketball but always great broadcasting. Mike's calm and even keeled style was the perfect compliment to Tommy's tirades on the refs and opposing players. Mike is a legend and many of his calls will be ingrained in Celtics lore forever. I just wish we could extend the local NBC Boston coverage beyond round 1 so we can have Mike with us a little longer. He's the best and we thank him for many years of helping us enjoy Celtics basketball. Let's go get #18 so we can see Mike on those duck boats in June!

As a life long Miami Heat fan who had the misfortune of living in Massachusetts for 16 years… Mike Gorman was and will forever be a Legend in Boston and all of New England. Man has been the voice of the Celtics for my entire life. Congratulations and Enjoy Retirement!!

Gorman did some March Madness games from the late 80s through the mid 90s - he called the famous Georgetown/Princeton game in 1989 and also had the distinction of calling two 15 over 2 upsets back when they were extremely rare (Santa Clara over Arizona in 1993 and Coppin State over South Carolina in 1997).

Mike Gorman, Tommy, Max and a few others are really all I liked about the celtics broadcasts. I don't like the national broadcasts. Mike Gorman was right about the cable networks. Tommy was open about his dislike for felger and tanguay too but had to grin and pretend he liked it. These guys are basically on there to draw attention to the local broadcasts. I dont tune in as much since Tommy left. I used to watch every game. Now there are so many other distractions I still tune in but don't really enjoy it. These guys on sports radio are frauds. They are there to draw attention to the local broadcasts like I said and its all phony. They are not likeable people or trustworthy. Heinsohn despised talk radio.
