i'm a new soccer fan and i'm really enjoying the MLS games. lots of people only watch european soccer but i think MLS is a good production with a lot of excitement, too. i hope one day that soccer is a more popular spectator sport here in the US.

Im nnot NEW to soccer but havent watched it in years, im surprised the amount of support that MLS is getting, Austin is CONSTANTLY selling out thier games at 30k attendance, thats bigger than some teams in Premier and Serie A. I hope this sport gets bigger over here

LAFC completely destroyed Austin FC. But HOW THE HELL is that not a PK? Making such mistake in such an important game, with the help of VAR, should be passive of termination from MLS officiating. Absurd.

@@Elwer2009 no, they still had a great season. It's their second year in the league and they blasted through this year with win after win after being one of the worst teams last year. They ended high in the western conference, and were in the running for the cup. They had a hell of a season and deserve credit for a job well done.

So stepping on someone's foot is no longer a foul? That call could have changed everything. (or nothing, we don't know) Has anyone heard why the ref decided against the penalty? It seemed clear the foot was stepped on.

Yeah, it's crazy that this wasn't called after the VAR review - I don't know what José Villarreal sees that makes him think this isn't a penalty. I don't always agree with the Instant Replay analysis but this week all three of them (Andrew Wiebe, Charlie Davies, and Christina Unkel) agreed this should have been a penalty. When all three agree without much deliberation, it's usually a pretty bad call.

The thing is, his VAR flagged it and said "here's a clear and obvious error for you to see," and the center ref still couldn't see. VAR did it's job, the head referee failed utterly.

So much skill, but so little collaboration by the forwards in front of Austin's goal. You don't just slam a ball into a goalie, you do a Barcelona ballet and find the empty net. Soccer is a passing game, like basketball.

Esa falta no pitada que probablemente es penaltie no se cobra y acto seguido llega el 3 gol de los ángeles estas cosas son las que tiene el futbol y a veces puede ser cruel, igualmente LA dominó con claridad el partido, pero son jugadas que quién sabe si hubieran cambiado el signo del partido

El pisotón es 40 cm adentro del área!...si de ese penal venía el descuento se presentaba un encuentro totalmente diferente!lamentable y grosero error arbitral,si bien LAFC fue superior,no se puede dejar pasar algo así en una final de conferencia.

mls is a good league, but the spectator seats are a problem. The mls cup must be played at a stadium with at least 70,000 spectators. Also, the number of games should be increased. I like the mls playoffs to be home and away

Nah one and done is the better format. It rewards the team with the better regular season record by giving them home field advantage. That's the way it should be.

@@justinjohnson5906 they didn't have all that back in 2016 did they? Back then, if MLS had the same playoff format they do now, sounders wouldn't have even won their first MLS Cup! FC Dallas beat them 2-1 in the 2nd leg but because of that bullshit 1st leg, Dallas was knocked out. If a team finishes in 4th place then has to play the 1st place team in the playoffs, they don't fucking deserve a home game.

Looks like LAFC won because it wasn't Austin's day. LAFC played better don't get me wrong. But Austin would without the bad day and the clear penalty given. Have drawn and in penalties maybe won.

All season, Austin's been a Jekyll and Hyde team. Really depends on which one shows up. LAFC got the A Team last time, same with Dallas. We just were not good this time. Full marks to LAFC for playing a solid game, and the outcome may not have been much different, but I really wish we'd have a least shown up.
