Agreed. Their midfield is based on just outclassing their opponents. That won’t be good enough in League 2 where the players are of the same caliber or better.

Very true. They also kind of need to do it to prove they can triumph in the playoffs if that’s where they end up again. No good coming second if the reason you missed first is a tendency to choke in the important games. Could very well get upset by a pluckier team coming from lower playoff spots if not careful

its to do with how in control he is, the challenge is two footed (both feet collided with the opposing player), there were no mitigating factors in how he collided with the opposing player (studs showing, off his feet) and he was already the player in control of the ball (the last player to touch it) so him getting the ball does not play a role in the decision, he techincally already had it. his lack of control caused a dangerous playing situation with no mitigating factors, therefore its a red card

@@meatballg8655 to me that’s not a lack of control, that’s just momentum. Both feet collided with the player because they are moving towards each other. His feet are off the ground in order to kick the ball. It’s a physical sports, contacts will happen. While by the modern rules it’s a red I don’t think it needs to be. I’m not sure what decisions like this are preventing or what problems they are solving. Let me put it this way - what is he *supposed* to do in this situation? Not go for the ball? Should both players just stand there and go “no after you sir I do insist”? Not a red card. Accidental collision caused by the physical nature of the game. Treat both players, drop ball, move on. Football doesn’t need to be ice hockey but it doesn’t need to be basketball either.

@@Jayfive276 the argument of “what is he supposed to do in this situation” doesn’t work in this situation when it’s his cock up that caused him to perform a dangerous move in the first place. He kicked the ball too far away from him while dribbling, which made him perform a dangerous move to try and keep possession. He followed up a mistake with a dangerous move which could’ve led to a player being properly injured (kicks to the ankle are dangerous, especially followed by the full force momentum of a whole human being behind them because it can cause joint damage or in very unfortunate circumstances a break). “Contact sport” does not mean “let the players get away with stupid things to make up for their bad plays”, it means “the players can touch each other”, big difference. In the rules it’s a red card, morally it’s a red card.
